Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I get where you are coming George and we may live in a glass house but don’t think we have thrown any stones. The difference being that in our AFLW team still exists and our home ground whether people like it or not is Casey. Oval 2 at Casey is the home of our Next Generation Academy (including females) so far I think we have kept our side of the bargain with the exception being playing 2 home finals at Ikon.

I'd like to see the government get their money back.

Like the $40+ billion they dolled out during covid to business that didn’t actually end up meeting the original requirements?? Nothing to see here……. let’s get the money back from welfare recipients instead.

You anticipated my intervention that the failure to attract public transport infrastructure could provide a negotiating trigger. That the "quasi utopian development" could maybe benefit from an entertainment facility incorporating corporate and retail. A practical community facility that requires the infrastructure especially if supported by an AFL club attracted there with space allocated for the training grounds. Could be a mutually beneficial submission.

You may be correct about the architectural wankers involvement, but they would have to shove aside the property and financial investors who have been encouraged over the years and are even now trying to recover their excessive outlays. I should add I have no financial interest in either area but am prepared to offer my project management and consultation experience.

As you and other Dlanders may enjoy, the response to me has been muted. There has been genuine interest expressed but most are content to wait for the Caulfield project to kick off. I am also not opposed to that, but just see some opportunities to play projects off against each other to negotiate a better deal and get a better outcome. To do that would require greater detail. I do thank the 3 members who have contacted me offering their direct participation. We are all very much aware of our limited knowledge and experience in such a large project but are willing to continue to investigate options further and expand our ideas.

I incidently have had no response from the club to my questions, but am looking on that positively, that the club are preparing a considered response. I would appreciate meeting the sub committee and may suggest that as a more convenient forum to resolve some issues.

Looks like the Gabba redevelopment is dead in its present form. (Costs have escalated from the original estimate of $1 billion to 2.7 billion and rising)

Haven't heard anything about Docklands being upgraded for a few years.

Money is tight to say the least

How can ANYTHING cost $2.7 bil?

Someone somewhere in construction is making an absolute killing, while governments and councils are busy trying to distinguish their elbows from their [censored].

The Hoddle Street upgrade a few years back was delayed and its budget blew out by some $60 mil (and this was not the only delay or blowout) because someone somewhere had underestimated the amount of crushed rock required. So they had to get in an extra $60 mil worth of crushed rock.

SIXTY MILLION

You could build a row of luxury houses along that same length of Hoddle Street for $60 mil.

But they needed $60 mil of crushed rock.

SIXTY MILLION

It's like developers watched "Utopia" and took notes, while govt people watched it and said "gee, maybe we need MORE sensitivity training!"

What an obscene amount of money for a Sports Venue.
whilst Middle Class Families are struggling to eat and pay bills.
I love sports, but it is is merely entertainment

After the Covid Fiasco, that is an obscene figure

Melbourne Rebels look to be going down the gurgler. (AAMI Park occupant.)

https://www.news.com.au/sport/rugby/melbourne-rebels-move-closer-to-folding-with-staff-including-the-ceo-sacked/news-story/4643f8ba6b9e7f4506390a08bf498cad

Huge debts, no supporters, board collapsing and in administration. They have a team this season, but require a Government bailout ( $20 million in debt, no funds) to keep going next season.

Does this give the MFC some capacity to move our administration staff over to AAMI Park if Rebels collapse?

I think they should look at it, as any better facilities seem a way off.

At least puts everyone associated with running the club under one roof, for the short term. The move may also help with getting Olympic Park developments, if we go down that path.

We would lose any association with the MCC/MCG other than game day arrangements. If we move to a home away from MCG, then that would happen anyway.

I reckon it is a good opportunity, at the expense of the Rebels, to take over their offices.

Caulfield Racecourse redevelopment plans mentioned in todays Herald Sun. High quality new spectator and horse stabling areas discussed, nothing about other aspects of the RC redevelopment (like MFC training & admin facilities) in this article though.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
