Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I wonder if Hore comes back in too or too many talls back there?

not sure we can play, Hibbo/Lever/May/Frost and Hore all in the same backline.

Hore has to come in and play against his,  ol' vfl club.

Well, I would not bring Lever in under ANY circumstances. He is underdone and not worth the risk. IMO

just as likely to re-injure playing at Casey. Would prefer he works himself into form playing in the firsts.

Not sure why Hibberd is on this list. He's 186 cm and generally plays on smaller forwards. However, I agree with the other four, although I think the answer is "yes" as both Hore and Frost should be able to play on smaller forwards.

We can't manage him in the firsts...

At Casey he can have long periods off the ground, he's more likely to get a soft tissue injury with the intensity at AFL level.

Serious question, but is there a compelling reason to go to this game? Collingwood home game, any general admin tickets go to their coffers. We’re also likely to lose.

I feel this could be an 80-20 crowd split this game.

To support the Dee's!?

It will 80-20 crowd split if only the staunch turn up.

Yep, it would be fine, great, tremendous, terrific. Leaves a couple of spaces for smalls - eliminates weakness areas, encourages midfield runners to get involved in the backline approaches and is difficult to man up upon. Salem can pass at will with this set-up.

Good, sounds like we're going all in.

In - May, Lever, Hore, Salem

Out - Wagner, O Mac, JFK, Stretch.

Melksham, VDB and Jetta are our only best 22 certainties out.

Lewis and probably ANB are available for good depth.

Starting from the Freo game after the bye (as May and Lever would've shaken the rust off) we should be winning more than we lose. Pure and simple. Excuses are over. The honey moon period for Goodwin is well and truly over.

yeah true, he is 6'1' though and can play tall.

can't wait for Lever and May to be out there.  imagine May wrestling Jenkins instead of O Mac??

True, but I do wonder what constitutes a tackle sometimes. Does anyone have an actual definition? Like, does the tackle need to stop the opposition player? I'm always sceptical when it comes to stats

My understanding...

A tackle is only counted as a tackle if It impacts the play.  Ie;  stops player who has the ball from an effective kick or handball.

If an effective kick or handball (disposal) takes place in the process of being tackled the tackle is not counted and is instead marked down as an 'attempted tackle'* only.

I must admit I don't remember Spargo making an effective tackle, but I'm not going to rewatch the game to look for those two moments :)

What I was trying to say in my original comment is that I think Spargo has some extremely good attributes, but I don't think he is able to impose pressure on the opposition the same way as someone like Lockhart has been able to. It's only an opinion obviously.

Gee Hore has been one of the few good things this year. If Hibberd continues to improve and returns to his old self ....Frost likewise then we have Jetta,  Lever and May......quite formidable.

Tmac better improve up forward as there might not be room down back.

Made me laugh. I know what you mean, but I think most of us would prefer if Frost didn't return to his old self. While the current version still has one nervous every time he's near the ball, the 2019 Frost is far superior in overall output to the earlier version.

Agree.  He now does some good passes compared to the wild delivery he used to do.

Goodwin is really Badloss.

The period of all excuses IS well and truly over.

I'd suggest he's as useless as a wet rag in a storm.

No plan B..in fact plan A is fn useless and we'll understood by EVERYONE  !!!

I'm glad you're comfortable in your little place. That's precious.

No Taylor Adams, Elliot, Dunn, wells, Beams, Langdon. Question mark over Cox and Grundy but they reckon Grundy will play.

After just beating Sydney Bd losing to freo at home they are certainly not in their best form

thats right, I’m getting my hopes up already!

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
