I really found it hard to scroll through this thread.. I think my pre-game anxiety is starting early this week..

I saw Brad Scott on 360 this week, flatly deny/dismissing any possibility that Melbourne might be a threat, he could only muster words to the effect “if we lose it’s not about our team or our preparation, but only due to a better team on the day”. I took from that statement, that he can only see us winning by luck.

I’m not sure if I interpreted his comments correctly or not, but it just seemed to wreak of arrogance.

It's one thing for Scott to say that externally for the public, the message internally is different.

I know for a fact that internally at the club, they rate the Dee's very highly...

“Zac Smith had his colours lowered and did little to suggest he will dislodge Ryan Abbott from the No.1 ruck spot for Friday night's AFL elimination final.

Esava Ratugolea played more minutes in his second game back from a three-month layoff but had little impact playing between attack and ruck.”

Too right they rate the Dees very highly ... they had to rely on across-the-game free kicks from the umpires to stay in the game and only just managed that ... then for a whole quarter they struggled without the green snot goblins gifting further free kicks to a demoralised Geelong team, to finalise the game on two occasions (two games played) and poor Maxxy had to wear the blame in one of these games. As for the ruck infringement on Dangerfield, I cannot see any player, ever, stooping so low to pull that one ... so beware, several Catty Puts are on the major injury list for this game.

That performance by Dangerfield flapping his arms like a demented bird to win a free kick was disgraceful. What a piece of filth. Champion footballer, yes...  sh#@ bloke, yes.

I agree with earlier comments about so many punchable heads at Gee-long. Selwood, Ablett, Scott, Hawkins. Sorry if I've left any out.

Apart from the GF team he was gifted, Chris Scott's finals record isnt too good from memory. Winning only 3 of their last 11? No wonder Cats fans were livid on his contract being extended until 2022. Such an arrogant piece of turd.

Interestingly given the apparent GF experience being talked up of Hawkins, inside the cattrey, and directly to me  from a highly respected member of the coaching team on the day, they felt Hawkins didn't contribute greatly on the day, esp given his opponent Ben Reid or Chris Tarrant ( I can/t remember which he mentioned) was on one leg.

The club's analysis was that Harry Taylor's  intercept marking saved them the game, and Bartel' s performance won them the game.  Neither are playing now.

Chris Scott is yet to prove a solid finals record IMO and Goodwin will add another chapter to this on Friday

Don’t forget Cam Guthrie after the Round 1 post match sledge towards Max.

Max’s line in reply to a journo still makes me laugh.

I don’t need the little paddle-pop lion look-a-like trying to be my friend after the Un-Australian bulltish he pulled,”

Tom Hawkins is a Finely lad, so I can't bring myself to dislike him. Plus he is actually a very nice guy.

Cant stand the rest of them though, especially Selwood and Chris Scott. Ablett is a great player but sooks to the umps too much for my liking.

I have relatives in the Blighty area (go the Red Eyes!), so I know what you mean, FD. Still, that means little once the siren sounds! (same for Shane Crawford back in the day as well).

Your wife is an absolute keeper Earl. Under no circumstances get rid of her ( unless she gets it into her head to become a Collingwood supporter) Which will prove she's unstable so moving her on is the only thing you can do.

The only thing I dislike about the cats is the Selwood ducking thing that we don’t see that often now .

yeah they are cocky and have some show pony types and feel free to dislike , I admire their winning culture.

Bartells work in raising awareness around family issues and sharing his story has been first class as is his footy knowledge during his match call.

Lucky you didn’t bump into him, he would have chased after you and slammed into you back when you had no idea he was coming.

I have been having some banter with a Cats coterie member (and former board member), who btw was more than happy when bomber left. Anyway has no confidence in them winning, said he hopes we win the flag.

Personally I'd rather build up Selwood/Danger/Ablett/Hawkins, it makes us look better when we win. And I ave so many Geelong supporting mates (and a few cousins from the maternal side of the family), can't hate them, jealous yes, but they are not Essendon/Collingwood/Adelaide/WCE/Hawks.

Even Scott who I view as a hypocrite of the highest order, I still respect, he has amazing record coaching that compares well (except his finals record which is approaching Hardwick 2013-2016 levels :D)

But -  if they do have blokes targeting Max's back or legs (Mitchell style) Lewis has my full permission to run through and KO any snipers.

Tom Bugg: "you rang?"

Play Bugg for this job. He gets to play a final in his career. (Or 10 mins of one at least.)

Don’t worry, Jetta will check-side his jaw like he did in 2015 at the cattery - it floored him ?

They have no depth and about 6 legitimate spuds will run out for them Friday night.  If we bring our 'A' game we will crush them.

Given our relative youth and inexperience, I am concerned Geelong may "Go the Biff" early to unsettle us. How will Melbourne respond to the challenge?

The way I see things we have a chance to play Geelong and Hawthorn over the next 2 weeks. Those 2 teams have handed out more misery to us over the last 20 or so years than any others. I would love the fact we can wipe their a#$%s in 2 finals in a row. I hate those 2 clubs nearly as much as I hate the filth.

If we beat those two and lose from there I will be satisfied.

It's not the 2000 grandfinal... things have evolved, it won't be like that... and even if there is bit of 'pushy-shovey'  -I don't think it would ruffle anyones feathers, to not continue to go hard at the ball...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
