Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

I’m a Garlett fan and still a believer... I’d like to see a final bench of:

Melksham, Kent, Garlett and Fritsch.

Plenty of run and pace there.

Yep that would be the bench for me. JKH didn’t do a lot wrong but Kent is the more damaging of the two.

Not the answer I was hoping for...

Yeah. I guess i got caught up in it being similar dimensions to the MCG than where we've played them in the past at Subi. Which is a little on the agenda in how we cope with their spread.

Does anyone know (roughly) what the dimensions of the oval are over there?

Is it skinny, wide, long..???

Comparable to the G or Etihad?

Goody said in his presser its similar to super hero stadium.

Can’t see us winning this game unless we see a dominant performance by a couple of players. Perhaps Gawn, Oliver and Tmac. I just want to see someone take the game by the scruff of the neck and lead the way (and preferably not McGovern).

Will that be too hot for us?

Disagree. I think we have a very good chance of winning this and cementing a place in the finals. Weagles, I believe are not that good and definitely not a top 2 team. Our structure without Hogan, as funny as it seems will be better and ensure players deliver with eyes open! We will win plenty of the ball and trust they look for our players for a change.

I am confident on this one and we will put all the doubters to bed. I hope!

From the extended bench Melksham is the only certainty.

I don't see the need for Pedersen given we're replacing Hogan with Weideman, so I'd drop Pedersen. That's then Weid, Melksham and Hibberd for Hunt, Hogan and Pedersen and the balance feels right.

I doubt we'll see any more than three changes but I'd be inclined to add a fourth and drop JKH for Kent.

Clarry is going to rip the Eagles a new one!

Yes he will, with the winning goal after the siren.

How that place would melt if that occurred, Oliver’s been copping a lot of flack on the West Coast boards.

Happy to see Spargo backed in, and not surprised to see it. He made some poor decisions last week - but won't make them again. It's called development.

bing.  I am a big fan of Spartacus but I did think he looked to be feeling the effects of a very good, but long debut season and thought that he may be ‘rested’ with ‘general soreness’

Still could be a late withdrawal I guess.  Keep the Weagles guessing.

With Hogan out I would like to see us potentially mix things up in the forward line with Petracca having some time at FF, I feel like we've become predictable with our movements, particularly when it comes to our taller forwards.

I know it's been said a lot already but we need to lower our eyes and look to spot up targets, it can be a tactic to get our bigger forwards to draw the attention for the defenders while our smaller/mid sized forwards and midfielders lead to create options. Hopefully with Melks back we'll get some good delivery in there.

Let’s face it, Hogan is a massive loss as we can’t afford our best players out at this time of the year but like you said it gives an opportunity to throw a different mix up forward.

Hogan is 4th in the comp with 151 score involvements behind Dusty (157), Riewoldt (153) and Breust (152). Goes to show he’s vital to our set-up. Interestingly Oliver tied 4th with 151 ( what a freak).

We have some options, Melksham could play deep and can do it well like he showed us Anzac Eve against Rance, Trac goes well as deep forward also. Weid can crash some packs and create spills for our fleet of foot, doesn’t even have to kick a bag.

We need to make every attack count because we’ll be spewing up if we see the likes of Cripps, Rioli and Ryan getting cheap ones out the back the other way.

Lever, Viney and Hogan are out, and other important players are underdone - Gawn was clearly playing injured last week, while Hibberd and Melksham are straight back in after significant layoffs.

...and yet I still reckon we're a chance of knocking off the #2 team away.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
