Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

I wonder when the last time was that we went in unchanged two weeks in a row?

Good move from the club, though.  When you win by a combined 200 points in a fortnight it's pretty hard to drop someone.

This will actually be three games Wise, nearly unheard of.

It's almost boring for us all the sudden on selection night these days :P (not that I'm complaining as i love our side). Even if we played West Coast i wouldn't change it as I'd back our team.. Hopefully play well again :)

How good is it having a consistent team where we can keep it the same each week.

No one deserved to get dropped and why change a winning team.

I expect the dogs to cone out firing but I think the boys are ready and we will just have to much forward power.

Danger game. Media attention. Coming off 5 massive wins. Pressure on the opposition. All the hallmarks of a Melbourne loss. Let’s hope this is not the case, and we win especially for Jonesy.

We win!

You're absolutely right!

I doubt we've had that happen very much in the last 20 years.  It's fantastic continuity for the side.

Of course we will have only beaten another out of form side you realize.......but thats fine. I dont listen to their rubbish anyways, im sure them team don't either.

You learn to win from winning, not from losing or who you play. You learn way more from your successes, than you do from failures.

Unchanged winning team for the second week on the trot and almost a full list to select from. Good position to be in.

For Casey we have a number of senior team experienced players running around and a number of developing players.

Frost, Wagner Hunt, J. Smith, Bugg, Garlett, Pedersen, Weideman, Tyson, Stretch - that is 10 good experienced players that could slot into roles in the senior team. Excellent depth. add to that Kent who is 2 weeks from resuming and AVB who is a month away and that is very healthy.

The developing players are Petty, Keilty, Baker, Balic, King and Filipovic.

Not sure Johnstone or JK-H will develop much more

McKenna and Maynard are injuried but seem to be on track to resume full training in the not too distant future.

Looks rosy at the moment.

Summary of the 2 teams - Last Round Statistical Comparison

(does not include  Bulldog Ins this week)

Top 10 Players Last Round (10) Comparison / Score / Rank*

image.png.3e8391002e8ffc41badda524e698a704.png

* Apologies to Maxy as comparative score does not account for Maxy's Hit Outs to Advantage, which would no doubt place him easily in the top 10.  Boyd also missing this stat of course.

Overall Team Score Comparison

Demons:  83.80  Bulldogs:  57.87

Differential:  Demons +25.93

Vs Adelaide Rnd 10 (Compiled from previous week's Rnd 9 Matches)

Demons:  73.27 Adelaide41.87

Differential:  Demons +31.40

Based on that last Team Score Differential, the Bulldogs appeared to be in slightly better form (statistically) in their Rnd 10 match vs the Pies than Adelaide's previous game (Rnd 9 vs the Dogs).  But we also upped our form last week from our previous game (Rnd 9 vs the Blues).

Based on pure stats, that should result in a slightly closer game than against the Crows with the Demons only winning by approx 75 points.

However, we should always allow for home ground advantage.  Lets give the Dogs at least a 4 goal leg up from favourable umpiring decisions in the first half or so.  The result..... Realistically we should only win this one by about 51 points!  :D

I feel like I should be worried, but I am 100% not. We haven’t seen this Melbourne side before, past embarrassments are irrelevant.

My only problem about this game is it’s still sooooooo far away. I am itching.

Have you tried rectinol. Soothes that fiery itch.

Johnstone is being 'trialled' as a small defender, receiving extra coaching from Nev Jetta

They may have found a role for him, has improved in the four games he has played, still a long way off but the chance is there

Very happy we aren’t getting ‘cute’ and resting players.

We are 2 weeks from a bye FCS.

Spargo can have a rest then and we can manage Jordan and Bernie over the latter half of the year

My main interest here is the emergencies.  Stretch, Bugg, Pedo and Smith.

I understand Pedo: he is a genuine emergency, next in line if a tall doesn't get up.

Are we assuming Stretch and Bugg are named so that we can be sure Tyson and Garlett get game time? Or have they moved ahead of them in line?

I reckon you're not far from the mark, dean.  It means Tyson and Garlett are guaranteed to get more game time, the same goes for Hunt.  They might make Bugg and Pedo the carry over emergencies as they've played more footy over the past month or so.

Is there a word for,  ....that  feeling you have, .....when you have your own opinion on team selection, But you hold back on speaking up, ....because you trust the selectors, ........ and your angst is replaced .....with a new found faith in the team. Ill call it .... 'Ohmmmmm'     (a throbbing chant in the tantric cross-legged position). And so I say.   'Ohmmmmmmmm'

Translates as .... 'Do what you want my wonderful coaching panel , ....we trust in you!'

The Casey game is on Sunday so I would think that any of the emergencies that do not play in the first team on Saturday will play a full game at Casey.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
