Wish i was at the game. Went last year thenhad a week in Alice. Everyone should get there at some point.

Beautiful day weather wise. We need this win to keep our top4 spot. Come on Melbourne get the job done.

Don’t care how much we win by.

I am expecting a 4 Quarter 100% effort.

This “away” game is an atrocious situation, in front of how many people?

Meanwhile our 100,000 seat home plays host to somebody else, yet again

The only way we can bring the Demons back to Melbourne is to win, so that we simply out grow these ca$h grabs

After lamenting how long we have to wait till the start of the game this afternoon and woundering how I was going to fill in the time, I recalled the televised curntain raiser game:

12:00pm Springs Redtails Vs Darwin All Stars, Ch:7 (7 Mate here in Qld).

Keen to check it out.

We go in full strength and in hot form, against a (admittedly very good) team with several of its best players out.  I know they will really want to win this one because of the media beat up about Lever, but as far as im concerned that works in our favor. They can waste a heap of energy focusing on one player while we go about our game.

Dees by 18 points in a tough, physical match.

If the crows were at full strength they would account for us easily I’d say.

Today is 50-50 I reckon. Still don’t faith In us against top teams that set up well defensively so I reckon we’ll lose a close one.

Hoping to be proved wrong!

Could not agree more. Myopic cash grab asgainst increased chance of home ground win. Making finals and flags is the penultimate $ boost. Plus I like to go to the footy.

Even 1 home game in NT would be too much.

The fact we play two each season is infuriating.

Back in 2011-12 we were thrown this scrap. Nobody else would have given it 5 minutes.

To be still held to this contract, shows how highly we are valued by the AFL and the 17 other clubs.

Winning is the only way to break the shackles

We match up very well against the Crows, and the last few years show this.

Bring the style of footy we have played over the last month and we win. Simple.

Match of the round for mine.

Pity that in a week where we broke our membership record, this game is being played in front of max crowd of 5000.

Got a feeling that I'll be watching through my fingers for much of it...us by 12.

Our run of big scores will continue, Dees by 65 points. Oliver with a cheeky 36 disposals and a goal.

What a buzz kill. I was dreaming of 36 goals from one possession.

Beers in the Esky and off with our 3 little Demons to a Crow infested BBQ here in Adelaide... Big day for our club and also this expat family! ?❤️?

I love the fact we play a game in Alice Springs and not just cause I live here, but to play a game in the heart of our country and to have the club visit and work with the communities, some of the most neglected places in our country (to a degree it shocks city folk to their core) makes me very proud of our club - long may it continue

It should be shared by all clubs. The negatives on player recovery will disadvantage the MFC every year.

(The difference between 4th and 5th spot come September)

Meanwhile other clubs push for more MCG Games.

Our Demons have been improving and building in confidence over the last four weeks, delivering four great wins and a very good percentage boost.

While many want to say, who did we beat, I compare our efforts to how other teams went against them, Cats straight kicking got them a 28 point win over Blues, we had the biggest win over the Suns this year, Essendon have won their last two and even the Saints took it up to the Tigers for 3 quarter.

When you go through the Demons line by line, we have class spread across the team, and a lot are still improving in Hogan, Oliver, OMac, Brayshaw, Petracca, Frischt and then add Gawn, Hibberd, Viney, TMac, Melksham, Jetta.

Garlett, Hunt, Tyson, Bugg all can’t get a game.

When Demons win today, people will finally see how much talent, ability and the right commitment, our team is bringing in 2018!

Watching the Redtails game.  Good to see channel 7 have brought Gilbert McAdam in for the commentary.  Love his work on the Marngrook Footy Show.

Disappointed to see that we will get BT for the main game though.  Easily the worst, most annoying of comentators going round at the moment.

Confident we'll win today. Tipping about 3 goals in a tight game. Matt Crouch back is big for their midfield, he's probably their best player. They're still missing Sloane, Walker, McGovern, B Crouch, Smith though. If they were full strength I reckon they'd scrape over the line against us today. As it stands they're not full strength, this one is ours for the taking. Go Dees!

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
