Yep we will, and with a short break we play bummers at Etihad.  Every chance we will have lost 3 in a row after that.  This club, this team never take their chances, and as such will forever be media fodder.  OUT MelkSHAM, he has done nothing.

A pair of thongs?

If I sold them I could probably pay for Clarkson to come coach Melbourne.

I agree, but sadly I don't think the FD will be brave enough to drop Lewis, but it would send the right sort of message Goodwin wants the players to bring in terms of non-negotiables.

Well they can just invent an injury for him - calf will do!

Might be a bit early but I will have a go:

Ins: Hunt, Weideman and J Smith

Out: Bugg, Harmes and Wagner (Lewis and Melksham on thin ice).

Jack Viney on one leg would be than half of those that played today!

not a silly comment in the sense that perhaps we need to acknowledge that they are a superior side at this stage and play a defensive style.

If we go head to head with the current game plan it is a low percentage strategy.

As to the ins and outs I tend to agree with Dee Spencer but as many have said you could make a case for the majority of today's 22 to be dropped.

Tyson has to come in, as he is one of our ball winners.

our game plan needs speed in the backline so Hunts in

it also needs speed on the wing so Stretch in

our pressure in the forwards is lacking so Hannan comes in

we need a second ruck so Peders is needed

We are really missing Tmac

Hannan Hogan Fritsh

Petrac Peders ANB

Stretch Jones Vince

Hunt Lever Salem

Jetta Omac Hibberd

Gawn Oliver Tyson

Kent Brayshaw Lewis Wagner (though I would give serious consideration to Bugg tagging Dusty)

Did not see enough, but we need fresh legs.

Leave weideman to learn his craft

and pick players for the conditions expected

wow ... now that could be worth paying money to see... I suspect we would not see Bugg for the next 6 weeks or so afterwards due to suspension

Hunt to replace Lever as a running back.

Yep about right time to send a Giant WAKE UP MESSAGE! Pedo instead of Maynard

Plenty of players in the gun after that one.

Two players should come in - one being Tyson, the other being (hopefully) Weideman to play as the second tall and to give Max a proper chop out in the ruck.

Who goes out?  Take your pick of Harmes, Wagner, Bugg, Fritsch and probably Melksham.  I can't see Goody making huge changes, but it also wouldn't surprise to see 3 or 4 changes.  I'd expect Hunt, Stretch and Hannan to possibly get a look in as well.

In: Tyson, Hunt, Hannan

Out: Harmes, Lewis, Bugg

Harmes is hard but plays like a headless chook. Continually smashes into team mates trying to win the ball and negatively impacts us. Tyson is a clear upgrade with his clean hands in close and a lot better footballer.

Bugg is similar and continually hurts with a poor conversion. Hannan adds as much with pressure but is more accurate. I think the spell in the twos might be good for Hannan so he knows the 100% commitment he has to give for the 4 quarters.

Lewis was awful again. Slow, unskilled and provided minimal rebound and no defensive efforts. Hunt to come in and will stay in. We will need his pace and his energy. Lewis needs to earn his super payments. No one deserves a free ride

Outs Harmes ( How on earth did he get Norm Smiths number? Absolutely no tricks, slow and embarrassing)  Melksham ( another trier without pace and skill set) Lewis ( looked liked he was helping for his old club) Bugg,  midfield absolutely B grade. Oliver excluded.

Perhaps?

Yes he’s had a quiet start, [censored], I would have played him today, he would have kept up with O’Meara at least. He’s a certainty next week.

Edit: Wasn’t aware F a r k is a bad word.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
