ANB has been one of our best, only forward applying pressure.

Garlett, Bugg and Kent need to be working harder to punish their own fumbly defenders. IMO both backlines are a liability today. They have just taken their chances.

It's remarkable that Goodwin gets out-coached most weeks. Inexperience?

Yes, and coaching against the best in the business.  This will be a good test for him in the second half.

Raining heavily again...

Here we go...

It’s raining non-stop here now at the G. Hope we can play with that in mind and just move the ball forward. Let’s be clever Dees!

Frustrated, not worried.  We have done plenty right, we just haven't taken our chances as yet.  When we do, like we did in the first term, then we'll be back on top and in control of the match.

And that's what could cost us the game. Footy is a game of momentum more than ever before. If you don't capitalise when you're dominant you tend to loose the close ones against even teams. You won't keep getting chances to miss, eventually Hawthorn will have their time in the sun. We've won the inside 50s both quarters and are behind. Extremely concerned.

Before the game, I thought to myself the only way Hawthorn would win would be if we fluffed our chances and they nailed theirs. Not feeling good at the moment.

I agree we’re definently not out of it and can still come back. It’s a long way from over, but how can you not be worried? We looked awful that quarter

Someone organise The forward line ffs

Hogan starts deeper pls and plays in front.  Jeffy front & square.  Kenty leading out.  Clear everyone else out and away from designated space / fat side with multiple leads

Can we swap coaches ?

When are they going to teach Max how to kick straight. Exactly the same error as against the Cats. Surely it is not that difficult to adjust. Our decline third quarter directly stemmed from that....

Goodwin is a bad coach. While having talent on tap he has taken us backwards. He seems to have a bright idea every week that confuses the players. If we win it will be because of the players and not because of his inventive tactics.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
