Depth, list clogger?

Here is a conservative list of who can play fwd and who kicked goals las year

Hogan, Weed, Tommy Mc, Hannan, Bugg, Tim Smith, Harmes, Garlett, ANB, Kent, Trac, Melksham, Gawn, Pedersen

We also have AVB coming back

That's 15 players on the list and we want to add a 29 yr old coming off a serious hip injury who has had 2 years out of the game

For me, the last para is the most relevant.

Despite the possible upside (assuming he could achieve and maintain high fitness/match standards, which seems highly unlikely), the upside would be very short term and not represent the future.

Would assume that Gary Zimmerman and co have had a good hard look at him and made the assessment that he will not make it back to the big-time, certainly not at the expense of youth.

So a big No from me, It would send the wrong message.

I'd like to see him as depth. But I'd hate to think that selecting him as a DFA would mean there's no spot (using a pick) for that skinny marking forward for Casey. Forgot his name but would be rapt if he got his chance - yeh Fritsh.

Also I'm keen to see what Tim Smith can provide with an injury free season.

I'd be happy to see him (Cameri) as a rookie selection.

So we chop Kent, who gets constantly criticised on here for his lack of forward pressure, to bring in Crameri who has same reputation?

Read my post above that one. I'd take Crameri to play on a wing, with his forward work a back up. Either way it would be if the footy department decides someone like Kent is worth paying out.

? pretty good, like a one year drug ban and a damaged reputation?  What would bad look like?

He was their leading goal kicker something like 4 years in a row and had come from a mature rookie to a settle senior player. Not like he escaped the drug ban anyway!

When fit, Crameri's a better player than Harmes and Bugg, who were regulars.  He'd also have Kent and vandenBerg covered.

Melksham and ANB's form was pretty solid.

He'd probably compete with Hannan for a spot.  I like Hannan, and am hopeful with a full pre-season he can be involved in games for longer.  Hannan's also a heck of a lot quicker when it hits the deck.

I see the forward line as something like:

Petracca, McDonald, Melksham

Garlett, Hogan, Hannan

But you never have everyone available and form dips, so I'd be very happy to rookie Crameri.

We should not take players with long-term injuries period.

I am not in love with the idea of adding him however I don't think it is accurate to say he has been injured for two years Ernest.

2016 he was cooling his heals with his druggie mates from Essendon then  injured at the start of 2017. Well that is my understanding.

The biggest problem is the judgement of the Dogs,  they don't think he is worth any sort of contract in 2018.

If Crameri joins the Demons then he won't be the only player with that surname to represent the club.

Ben Crameri joined the club in 1954 and worked his way up from the Thirds to the Seconds where he was a member of their 1956 premiership team booting eight goals in the Grand Final. Crameri earned a debut in the Firsts in Round 2, 1957 against Collingwood but played only one more that year before returning to the Seconds where he finished runner up in the Seconds Best and Fairest and equal second in the Gardiner Medal, despite only playing nine Seconds games for the year.

Crameri played only one game in 1958 after which he joined Moorabbin in the VFA. He later coached Northcote in that competition.

When Stuart Crameri joined the Bombers I enquired as to whether there was a connection between the two but I never found out.

Love these kind of posts. "(Completely irrelevant detail). 'nuff said."

I wouldn't pick Dustin Martin because the last Melbourne player with the initials 'DM' was Dave McGlashan in 1982 ..... 'nuff said!

IF his body passes the test AND he will play purely performance based AND we plan on lining up with a third tall lead up then its worth the risk v reward consideration. He would be contesting with Smith, Weid and AVB in that role so it isn't exactly bad to have another option that is proven at a goal and a half a game.

Why are we even considering this? A lot of old Melbourne thinking going on here.

It’s being spoken about because Crameri himself has the audacity to publicly declare himself as a good fit for the Demons given we no longer have Watts.

If crameri is fit and does a good preseason and plays  JLT could force his way into the side during the season as a  forward perhaps earlier. He could be picked up in the rookie draft and that is if he passes the Medical tests.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
