As lame as this might sound, I reckon if it wasn't for Goodwin finally addressing our failure to make it into the finals, I would not be giving too much of a stuff about these games. He added some closure to my frustration, enough to allow me to lift my spirits and be interested in watching a finals series that does not contain the MFC. I'm not going to do a Taylor Adams and say "we deserved to play finals" because we clearly didn't.

So it starts tonight in Adelaide with what should be a win to the Crows. I'm still holed up in Orange in central NSW so given that the Giants are playing it'll be televised on regional TV. I'd be skeptical of watching any footy out here if there wasn't a Sydney team playing tonight.

Anyway, I'm hoping the Crows get up tonight because I just do not ever want to see the Giants win a flag.

In other games:

Tigers (yeah I hate them but Cats have had too much success of recent times)

Swans for obvious reasons.

Power.

Agree on all except the Richmond result.  I want to see Richmond go out in straight sets and hence, the balance of the universe restored.  Geelong will not make it to the Grand Final regardless, so I won't begrudge them a win this week.

I won't be watching a minute of the finals, but will be getting in the betting side of things. Do like Geelong head to head and Essendon at the line. Port should win but a little too short for my liking.

The AFL will want a Sydney team and a 'fairytale'.  Watch the umpiring assist on this basis.  If GWS get through, watch the Bombers get a ride.  If Adelaide get up, the Swans should get the lollies from the maggots.

Personally, I want the Bombers to get such a flogging that Daniher thinks he is in the showers with Jobe.  Adelaide let us down last week (bastards), so would be nice for them to pay the price for dropping form.  Port are pretenders, and the [censored] away from Symons lose their three best players (usually wearing Yellow) and will require Dangerwood to be prolific.

WCE are flat track bullies and likely straight set losers, even though Port have no chance in later rounds.

Richmond are an interesting case study.  Ninth last year, flag this year sounds like a trend I could follow...

So, GWS, Sydney,Richmond, Port.

Hope Sydney get smashed.

Hope T Green does a knee.

Hope geelong dont win a flag .

Not against the tigers for the same reason we all whinge about how long its been.

GwS can wait their bloody turn. Its a rent a team.

I hate Geelong with the passion, but I hope they contribute to a very black fortnight for Richmond. Richmond going out in straight sets will ease the pain of round 23 oh so much.

If Adelaide lose tonight, I think the criticism should be heaped on them. As in no Sloane no Adelaide, which would be a poor reflection on them as a side.

Two thIngs

1. I am still really annoyed at the way we finished off the season. Normally I get over it but this time it's different.

2. Because of the above I really don't give a stuff about th finals and I'm not even sure if I will watch any of it.

Im just so sic of not being there and to finish the way we did just added salt into our wounds.

IMO Adelaide are not very convincing as minor premiers. They're vulnerable against GWS tonight.

Would love the tiges out in straight sets, sick of Geelong but I think they'll come unstuck in the prelims.

Sick of Sydney having everything, finals , flags, buddy , cola , coming back from 0-6, they will go deep though

Hoping esssendun get thrashed , they were gifted a dream run home into finals.

Wanted port to smash meth coke , might make me feel a bit better about us missing out

i kinda could find a reason to be annoyed at anyteam winning this year, the dogs last year were a novelty even then I was envious they broke their drought

whilst GWS are a facelesss corporate entity franchise, at least if they win then it maximises the number of disappointed supporters of the rest (share the pain with us I reckon )  ... the only winners really from a GWS flag will be that gill will surely land his bonus next year and the local Pizza Hut where they'll have their after party for their 25 paid up members

As you can see I'm not bitter at all about not making it this year

Why the hate for Geelong... as opposed to their coach? Some people can't differentiate...

Geelong finished second and quite frankly can match any team ...aside from Sydney...I just don't see how you can see they are not good enough...

Promises to be an interesting finals series.

My prediction - GWS win tonight and go all the way to the flag.

Hey, better them than Geelong.

Agree.. Gws for the win.. It will actually hasten their irrelevance I believe.. Not to mention see a few players leave for big dollars

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
