It lauds training and all these standards etc. Yes all worthy and sensible things....all shadowed by ACTUALLY turning up to play !! 

Those having their dig at Jack might actually want to be involved in games in a meaningful way  for the first 30 mins or so before opening their mouths (goes for on and off field personnel ).

Whilst you can not play if not prepared why prepare if not prepared to play. 

Some love to train the house down but forget to turn up to play.

The one size fits all narrative and design belongs with the dinosaurs.

According to my mail, the afl site, he's off touring Geel today.

Hearing JT speak last night, acknowledging their friendship, I am disappointed that Watts with all his talent doesn't seem to have the drive. Surely he doesn't lack for inspiration.

Disappointed we cut JT even more than Watts actually. Sure Watts has the potential. But if it's about building culture and valuing application, then I'm lost.

The Bluey is a look into the way the coaching team is thinking.  Whilst we on the ‘outside’ can see merit in his game (and perhaps he pulls off a blinder and wins the QB after the siren), it is interesting that the coaches are not seeing what they need to see in his play to earn him higher votes.  To finish in 21st gives a real indication that he is not performing for the club in ways that is setting the coaching team alight.  I imagine that all of the 100’s of pages of posts here dissecting his performance from outside - and guessing at what is happening inside - could be summed up in this result.  Here is a player with so much talent who - against the metrics set by the club - was 21st best. We bring in 2 players and he isn’t even best 22....

That's not telling the whole story though.

At Round 14 he was 6th. Then he got injured and his season nosedived.

Granted he doesn't get a free pass for that, but he wasn't the first ever player to struggle coming back from injury.

Oliver was just on SEN and pretty much sounded like Watts is gone - basically farewelled him and wished him good luck wherever he goes. But you never know, Oliver might be just as in the dark as we are 

Having said that, I think it's pretty obvious he's gone...just clinging onto some hope that he'll stay and this will all be a wake up call to turn him into an absolute weapon

Weideman is clearly behind so many players from his draft - just google the list, there are too many players to mention. In fact, you need look no further than the MFC. Clayton Oliver was from his draft. Charlie Curnow makes him look like a teenager.

Even though the same latitude has never been extended to Jack Watts (who was unfavourably compared with Nik Nat from day one), I am loathe to do this with Weideman.

Why? Because it lacks a proper appreciation of his development curve and it would be unfair to do so. I think he has enormous potential and I have high hopes for him.

But, as compared with say Charlie Curnow, I have to say his performance thus far has been a bit underwhelming. I'm not slitting my wrists about it though, nor am I putting the slipper into him.

Because I am rational. And fair and reasonable.

Who's not telling the correct story? How could Watts have been 6th after 14 rounds when Jetta was 5th on 205, and Watts finished on 172 after 23 rounds?

He supposedly had a great start to the year, yet was 11th after 8 rounds.

Has someone actually got any proof as to where Watts sat after 14 rounds?

i'm sorry but you cant use injury as an excuse. he was picked in the team and you're not in the team unless you're physically good to go.

Viney, came top 5 and was clearly carrying a severe injury.  You are either injured and don't play or just grit your teeth and bloody perform. playing and using injury as an excuse is pathetic. Jack isn't using it as an excuse, but some supporters on here are

Watts is 100% gone. 

It has come to my attention that Watts has been shown the door with the full knowledge and approval of the leadership group...... people who love Jack and are close friends with Jack.  The leadership group think the team will be better without him and also think its best for Jack.

The final straw (as previously discussed) was the trip to Byron and his failure to do what ever he could to get back to full fitness as fast as possible.  It angered many players and coaches. It sends the wrong message to the playing group.

I am a Watts fan and this devastates me...... he is gone.

Can someone tell me if the following two stats are correct?

I think I heard Glen Luff stating these stats on  "Pure Footy", but I might have misinterpreted.

1/ Jack Watts is no. 4 in the AFL for contested pressure in the forward line.(!!!)

2/Jack Watts is no. 2 in the AFL for one on one contests.

Surely they can't be true, but he's usually spot on, so I think I heard it wrongly.

Am I correct in my recollection, that in the first third of the season, before our injuries, Melbourne was considered the no. 1 pressure team in the AFL? Watts was part of that side.
