Not a delisting but I've noticed Weidemen like a couple of Collingwood posts on Instagram the last few days.. One of Daicos & Brown celebrating the win on Saturday (fair enough if not against us & the circumstances) & now one of Bucks resigning... Seems a bit odd

To be delisted :

Lumumba (he is still considered on the list)

Trengove

Hulett

White

Possibly leaving club:

Spencer (free agent interest)

Frost (possible trade)

Garland (hopefully delist)

Kent (hopefully get rid of somehow)

Would love to see Tyson put up for trade. Sick of him. Not sure if Bernie has received a contract extension yet but if he is not re-signed I certaintly would not lose sleep over it

Delist, give away or get a 4th rounder for: Trenners, Hulett, Lumumbles, JKH, Garland

Trade to highest bidder: Kent, Watts Frost (if Lever comes in)

FA going: Spencer

6-8 come in through trades, draft and rookie upgrades

Watts is worth more than Frost. Could be part of Lever deal.

Yes the rest are crap, but all clubs look for potential to improve their list. Watts, Frost and Kent would get another gig elsewhere. Maybe JKH too

Yep. It does seem a bit odd that you'd pay any attention to what posts players like on instagram.

I wouldn't lose any sleep if any of the following are not at the club next year: Lumumba, Kent, Garland, Vandenberg, Vince, JKH, Hulett, Bugg, Spencer, King, Kennedy, T.Smith, McKenna, White, Wagner. Trengove is another, but at least he tries.

Sadly we can't get rid of them all, but hopefully at least half are moved on. We need to seriously prioritise midfielders this year, and stop drafting flankers and utilities.

Clearly a big shake up is needed in the playing list. Delistings are crucial and there are many players I'd love to see the back of.

I will rank in order the 10 biggest list cloggers

Lumumba

Garland

Hullett

White

JKH

Trengove

Wagner

Kent

Vince

Stretch

The Prince is a keeper for mine. When does his contract finish?

Trengove could be captain at Casey. It seems his AFL days are numbered. However we need people like him around our development players @casey. . Too good a clubman and football brain to let go . Sad, that injury slaughtered any chance he had of showing his natural skills.

Besides he does not desreve to be treated like  *&%$ by some posters. These young men ARE Humans

At least 8 changes are required.

We need to find some established talent and draft for some prospective talent.  4 - 6 changes won't be enough

They are not our problem - only Vince has played regularly this year and he has said he is happy to play games at Casey next year if he stays.

It may make people feel good to delist 10 players but it is only tweaking around the fringe and will not fix the bigger problem.

The bigger problem is a game plan which does not currently match the players we have and a huge lack of player smarts and disposal skills.  If our coach is flexible he can fix the former, the latter takes more than one season.

Spot on.

To go with your point about the gameplan, I think so bigger decisions need to be made about our best 25 going forward.  I'm using him purely as an example, but is Dom Tyson the way forward for us?  I've been a fan but he seems to have gone backwards this year, especially with his disposal and decision making.

Delisting the players outside our best 30 isn't really going to push us forward.  We'll do it, but there are bigger decisions on more important players that need to be made.

A bit hard to delist Lumumba when he's not even on the list anymore....

I don't care if there a special circumstances and he is no longer on our list.

When the end of year delistings are written up I want his name first and in capitals.

I think the core are: Hogan, Jones, Petracca, Viney, Brayshaw, Gawn, Oliver, Hibberd, Melksham, TMac, Hunt, Garlett, Jetta.

Delists: Lumumba, Trengove, Garland (contract pay out, staff job), Hulett, Spencer (UFA), Kennedy, White (R)

Rookie elevation candidates: Keilty, J.Smith, Maynard (but only if we have to). Looks like we're going to retain T.Smith, Filipovic.

There's other players I'd persist with who are still developing (e.g. Hannan, JKH, Weideman, OMac, ANB, King, Johnstone, Harmes, Wagner), have limitations but are depth (e.g. Pedersen, Bugg), have been injured (e.g. VDB, McKenna) or are experienced and have some limited footy left (e.g. Lewis, Vince)

Needs: We need quality, not more role players - Inside/Outside mid (like Gaff, Zaharakis, I.Smith), Lever.  I don't think another ruckman is vital - we can provide cover with King, TMac, Pedersen - maybe rookie a journeyman.

Tradeable: we'll need to give something with potential value - pick 10, 2018 1st, Tyson, Stretch, Kent, Frost

I'd like to retain Salem and Watts - despite their limitations they are just about the only players on our list (apart from Hibberd and possibly Weideman) who can kick the ball consistently well, but if it took trading them to close the deal on a real need then I'd do it.

We won't have to elevate Keilty or Maynard.

I am not sure McKenna that gets another chance.

Agree with all that except I'd look to trade Watts while he still has some currency.

Bye bye Kennedy you spud. Never trade with Collingwood ever again please, they screw us every time.

Kent, Harry "O" Trenners, Garland, Kennedy, Bugg,  Hullett, White, Vince and anyone who effing butchered the ball on Sat.

Salem was a prime offender.

Hunt was never on his man. His running off and then butchering the ball left his man open for a rebound.

Who was meant to be doing the grunt work in the centre and stoppages. We lost most of them.

That performance goes down as the worst for the year. I am glad we didn't make the finals. It would have been a waste of money going to Adelaide Oval to see them thrashed.

Whoever the tackling coach is. Either they dont know their craft or the players dont listen. We have been horrific all year.

No point listing players who already have contracts in place for next year, e.g. JKH and Garland. Not going anywhere unless they a) retire b) get traded.

Agree with the main 4 names being thrown about. Hard to see Kennedy being kept on.

Salem with a disposal efficiency of 92%, the highest of our team, that Salem?

That is the one. The first quarter he butchered it. Turn over after turn over.

I don't know where you got the 92% disposal efficiency, it certainly wasn't by foot.

Did you go to the game or are you just reading the paper.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
