Not related to the trade period exactly but I’ve been told by a reliable connection that max gawn is nutting out the final details of a new medium term deal.

And Christian petracca is talking to the club about a new four year deal.

Sorry if its onthe wrong thread but just a hyperthetical for next year.

The trtade rumours of Hogan to head back home will be bbeating lowder than ever and I think he is a real chance to elect to go - obviously dependent on where we and Freo finish.

I would be demanding  the 2 first rounders as a base minimum and be looking at slingshotting them to GC for Lynch who is  already talking of heading back to Victoria.

IMO thats a like for like WIn / Win.

Please let me reiterate that I am a huge Hogan fan and do not want him to leave at all

You’re letting down team WA.

Charlie Cameron to Brisbane for Pick 12 then Picks 12 to us for for 29, 31 and 36. You heard it first :)

On face value that is a good deal for Brisbane, but I hope we do it because I have heard the draft seriously drops off after the first round. Have heard it from a few very good judges. I hope we do trade into pick 12 because 29, 31 and 36 may not be much good this year.

Doesn’t leave us with enough picks in the draft

Draft picks are essentially infinite. After 84 our next one would be 102. Of course not every club will use more than three selections so those figures would probably come into 70-odd and 80-odd.

Please please tell me Cristian's manager is holding us over the barrel on his four-year deal.

You're joking right. 84 will be used to upgrade Smith. So you are proposing to draft a player with 102. He'll be a gun.

Not actually infinite.  Every club could delist every player so 18 x 40 = 720 picks

We should pass for 15 rounds and then pick our last intended target at #685 - just to nullify the sort of expectations that Watts and Trengove have had to suffer through. And if he breaks into the team, then we'll have the draft steal of the century.

Possibly infinite, depending on how accidentally forfeited picks (eg, calling it an ineligible player) are treated.

My understanding is that rookie upgrades are the last selections in the draft, so in this scenario Smith would be upgraded with 102. I could be wrong however.

And no, I wasn't proposing that... Just pointing out that if the aforementioned trade happened or similar, there would still be allocated draft picks to make the list changes required.

Entering the final day of Trade Week, what out-of-the-box surprises would people love to see us pull off?

I suspect we'll try to trade up in the draft. Something like 29, 31, 36 for Brisbane's 18 and 43 maybe?

I want one of those mystery riddles to finally come true. @Siren's mysterious Victorian midfielder was this year's riddle. I'd like to snag him. I did see a post a while back about "landing a big fish" and when out on a boat you use a Gaff to do that.

One can only wish

So much for all the player unrest about Watts getting traded lol

Nice reality check for the JW fanboys.

Lets see how Adelaide go dealing with Carlton today , serves then right, both arrogant pack of [censored] teams haggling over extra second rounders to the Gibbs deal.

As I said previously we are the best (and by far most reasonable) team to deal with in trade week. Other clubs have held out for something better or have been hypocritical in their demands when the shoe is on the other foot

no wonder those bastards lick their lips when we come knocking

Apologies Redbeard, wasn't meant to be a riddle but the information at hand at the time.

Not a peep out of the club since trade week officially started

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
