It's here and I'm excited about this game and our inclusions.

I haven't been to the G in about 5 years to watch a game so I'm looking forward to seeing the boys live with my kids and hoping we play a hard contested game and come out on top.

Firstly I'm off to a pre match function where Bernie (slugger) Vince will be in attendance. Should be interesting. Hope he doesn't hit me!

One final thing GO DEES.

Working hard in the Bahamas, will be early in the AM at game time on this side of the world, please refrain from giving away the result on here until I've woken up and watched the reply. Cheers ?

At work today, dammit.

I've decided to avoid the interwebs / social media and watch the game as though live later tonight (thanks @binman for your decisive persuasion in the Match Preview thread). It's going to be a loooong day.....

Good luck boys and girls

Spewin I cant get into the big smoke today. No idea how this will fall...

We need to stop them from starting fast.  That I think is the challenge. Make it an arm wrestle early, dont leery them get their tails up.

C'mon Dees!

What a strange time to start a game of footy. Sat around 2pm. ... Oh, hang on, there's something strangely familiar about this.

(In my mid forties, things start to flood back) I remember son, at quarter, half and 3/4 time, filling in the footy record, A v B, C v D etc, taking a tram to this other that suburban ground, the thermos of soup my aunt and her friends brought. ...

(Shaking myself back to today) It feels good not to have to wait too long into the afternoon for the game to begin.

As I posted in the Match Preview thread I'm pretty confident of a win and wouldn't be suprised if it's 5-6 goals. All year I've been saying one day this team will explode and from the 1st bounce they'll be on.. Similiar to what we saw us do against Sydney in 2010, I dont think it will be to that extent but today's the day

Strange move by the AFL to put football on at the MCG at 2pm on a Saturday.

Innovative and bold-I wonder if it's something they copied from the NFL or Basketball ?

We have never won on a return game from Darwin... we will find out today if thats just cos we have been such a poor team for many years or if the trip drains the players.

Although we have changed a quarter of the squad from last week, four of those guys are returning from injuries and haven't played in a few weeks at least.  The other guy hasn't played AFL in a year.

Interesting times ahead.

Hopefully if Adelaide's performance last night is anything to go by we should be fine!

With 3 Jacks coming in you would go a long way to winning.

Praise the Lord for a decent starting time.

I can get boozed while enjoying the footy and still return to the warm bosom of Romsey Manor at a respectable hour.

What's a respectable time if we win?  I'm thinking 4am, especially after a few hours of the warm bosom of Goldfingers.

Dees by 24 points and play ferocious footy to get the season back on track!

i see two very strong forward lines, I think our midfield is deeper, and I am more confident of our backline containing their forwards than I am of their backs containing ours.

The AFL are trialing something new. Melbourne at the G on a Sat, middle of winter, starting at 2.10pm....Simply inspired !!   Someone got a bonus for than I'm sure ^_^

Yep, and they only kicked 3 goals in 2nd half.

To me, that makes how we start today even more important.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
