Round 17 Non MFC matches

St Kilda v Essendon at Docklands tonight

A loss by Essendon will almost end their finals chances (they would need to win 5 straight to be on 12 games at season end).

A win by St Kilda will see them firmly entrenched in the eight on 10 wins.

Go Bombers (this week only please)

I would love to see Melbourne win (obviously), Essendon, Bulldogs and Eagles all lose this week.  Start to get a gap between 8th and 9th.

I would love to get top 8 secure before we worry about top 4, since I firmly believe once we have our best 22 fit and firing, we don't need a double chance, or a home final (although both would help!), we can beat anyone, anywhere!

Sorry did someone just say Go Bomber???

I see it differently, I reckon there are only 2 teams outside the 8 that can realistically make it. Bombers and WC (dogs have lost 7 of last 10). So I'll be hoping the Saints get up, they are in great form and will make the 8 regardless IMO. Bombers have an easy run home but if they lose they are almost out of it (at 7 and 9) and we only need to worry about one team coming in.

Port have 5 of 7 at home so they are in. Tigers and Sydney are the teams most likely to move out but I wouldnt be surprised if the 8 stays as is

GWS beating Sydney is the absolute number 1 priority this week. Sydney also have Geelong and Adelaide away, so if they lose all those games they'll struggle to actually make finals despite being the hottest side in the league.

Tonight I'm really not sure what is better for us?? My first gut feel is I want St Kilda to lose as they seem to be our direct competitor this year, but Essendon have a soft run home.

Dont think i can bring myself to support anything Essendon, ever. Not sure why StKilda losing makes a difference to us? Yes theyre playing better now, but hey theyve played 1 really good quarter against the Tigers at home, the rest is just normal StKilda.....they will make the finals anyway. Rather play them than Sydney. Go the Orange people!!

Please god let Brisbane beat Richmond. It's starting to set up nicely for a Richmond fail to top all others. They have no place playing in September. Finals sides don't get humiliated 91-10 in a half of a football, no matter the circumstances.

StKillda to beat essenscum.

Freo to beat west coast.

GWS to beat Sydney.

Melbourne winning would be good but all of these results won't happen.

What works better for us?

Peptides, North, GW$, Bears, Carlton and Dockers all winning would be better for us, yes?

Us winning works better for us, then the other teams can go [bleep] themselves.

Apart from us and Brisbane, what a [censored] horrible list of want to wins.

Sorry - I just cannot support Essendon in any shape or form.

The only way I see it happening is if Essendon needed to win for us to make finals. Even then I would feel the need to shower after every quarter.

I'm sorry but does anyone else suspect Jane Bunn's an android?? Alarmingly consistent downward inflection at end of each breath.

I can't have anyone bad mouthing Jane. If she's android, I want to come back in the next life as an android.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
