This will be forgotten in 24 hours.  Oliver has already moved on by the look of it, and so should we.

Yeah, you're right. Nobody thinks he's a stager any more, because "just moving on" worked so well the last time.

For a poster whose opinion I respect, you've gone off the deep end with this one, Akum.  The 'staging' incident and this one are totally different and will be treated, and remembered, as such.

Go and look at the vision again as well.  Your idea of 'shoved' is pretty warped.

Thats why he's so totally hateable.

The club can move on but I need some time to abuse this poor excuse for a man.

Very funny

The ironic thing about the diving thing is that Vince did one of the lamest, most blatant stages I've ever seen, in a period of the game where there was actually something to gain by doing it, and I literally have not seen or heard it mentioned anywhere. I suppose nobody actually punched him in the face, so there's no actual crime we can blame him for.

That's why I can understand the view of others who would like to see the club publicly back Oliver at some stage. His poor reputation is being allowed to snowball out of control, over stupid things, It's getting ridiculous.

I find this totally absurd. An idiot fan is allowed to shout abuse into the face of a kid, then he gets sensitive about some 'feedback' and the problem is the reaction of the kid who was manhandled and abused.

It's like the absurdity of the Schofield situation. Schofield delivers an elbow to Oliver's jaw and the issue metamorphosis's into the question did Oliver 'dive'.

How do you profile a bloke like that?

  • Lives with mum
  • Enjoys Froot Loops with warm milk for breakfast
  • Waxes his whole body
  • Ambidextrous.....which is starting to cause vision problems
  • Wears a nightie to bed
  • 10 more girlfriends and he'll reach double figures
  • Has one of those single beds shaped like a racing car
  • Never played football in his life
  • Highlight of the week is sipping cocoa with mum and watching Coronation Street
  • Maintains a collection of ancient Playboy magazines under his bed which now cannot be opened......

Lives in a commune at an MCG seating section and contributes thousands of dollars to the MFC

Shoved?  Laughable.  Surely you don't believe he was shoved...?  I've seen the vision numerous times and at no stage have I thought he was shoved.

And how do we know it hasn't been tolerated?  How do we know that the wheels aren't turning behind closed doors and there will be further outcomes from this?  Right now, we don't.  The best thing for the club to do is to get on the front foot and get passed it as quickly as we can.

The club can kick, scream, yell and do whatever... but it means little and won't change a thing.  And our players are never hung out to dry - just watch the Goodwin presser from the weekend to see the standards and culture he wants to drive and you'll have zero doubt that we're in good hands.

OK, so now it matters how hard the contact was? Was "incidental"??

And how do we know it hasn't been tolerated? First, because there's no evidence for it. Because there's no reason for the AFL to do anything about it now that any possible PR fallout has been "managed". And because nothing ever changes for the AFL unless they're held to account for it in public. And because "getting past it" or "just moving on" has done absolutely nothing for us this season.

And when did I say that the club can "kick, scream, yell" and so on? How about a simple but firm statement about players being contacted by spectators during the game is not acceptable? Nobody actually said that yet. In fact, Goody said they'd look at it before commenting, but their silence is eloquent.

Yeah, Goody's presser was great, and today the club (not the coach) had a great opportunity to back up Goody's words with acts, but we just don't have the 'nads for it.

We all know who he is, and what a facewad of come he is.  Punishment enough.  He looks like a filthy kiddy fiddler with a Madonna fixation.  She wrote 'like a virgin for you, sweetheart?

and Clarrie - learn to ignore these idiots.  In your 2018 or 2019 Brownlow acceptance speech, acknowledge 'some loser at a Carlton game' for firing up 35 games of 3 votes in a row.

note he didn't apologise to mummy's boy.  He apologised for letting the team down by taking gloss off the win.  Perfect!

He'll let his football do the talking and his reputation will be just fine.

Alternatively, the club or any other individual speaks for him at this 'grave injustice' and the target on his back becomes bigger again.

I think it's been nipped in the bud in a timely manner.

This situation will pop up again at the next Carlton game at the G. Wonder if those seats were not available at all for the rest of Carlton's "G" Games? What a pity.........

I'm pretty angry about this.

The Carlton coward has a crack at Oliver and then didn't like copping a response. What did he say, "touch me again and I'll kill you" - what, we all worry that Oliver would jump the fence and attack him? It's an admittedly aggressive response to a fl*g being aggressive towards him but it's wasn't racist, it wasn't sexist, it wasn't homophobic, and it was in response to being unnecessarily pushed/touched/shoved.

I see no reason for Oliver to have to apologise which implies the coward deserved an apology of any kind.

Wasn't it Carlton supporters a few years back smashing on the back of the oppositions bench desperate to attack an opposition player? This mob are ferals and have now been given a free pass, or that's how they'll see it. When next we meet them I can almost guarantee it will be ugly, and the blues banner will almost certainly incite them.

This is poor, poor form from the AFL.

Typical gutless pretty boy Gil stuff.

Great post and magnificent vitriol in your first paragraph. "Facewad of come"???

And para 3 puts a different thought in my mind, which I hadn't appreciated until you pointed it out.    He didn't actually say sorry to the scumbag at all.

Still, pathetic that the AFL has done nothing about Mr F of C.

PS spell check - come or cum?

Chris Scott on AFL 360:

"Clayton and Melbourne have come out the bigger man in this situation."

Both he and Richo as well as Whately and the other host all agreed the supporter was completely out of line.

Come on Wiseblood, this is garbage. A number of times this year, the club has absolutely squibbed it in standing up for its players. This is by far the worst example, unless we're going to pay the moron compensation and take it out of Clarrie's match payments. For the second time in a few weeks, they've completely hung Clarrie out to dry without a peep. It's out and out pathetic.

Player pushed towards the fence gets shoved by a spectator. And that's OK? Every other club in the AFL - in fact, every sporting club in Australia - wouldn't tolerate their player being manhandled by a spectator in the course of the game.

I'm sorry but this is absolutely correct. Clarrys momentum took him to the fence as par the course of the game. The moron stood up and clearly pushed him back....it doesn't matter how hard or soft it was. Its unacceptable that a fan can have any physical contact with a player.

No coincidence, that one.

As for the Fairfax article with this [censored] accepting Clayton's apology? Only worth a read if you need any further evidence that journalism in this country has sunk beneath the gutter.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
