Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

presumably this fragmented discussion refers to Hannon?

Great pick up and versatile tough strong player who can snag a goal from nothing.

Um no Stretch! Hannan going along nicely!

Very tough at the selection table this week. We seemed to have a few running with heavy legs, not getting to contests, poor disposal etc... but at one time or another they all played their part.

The trip to Darwin might mean Watts remains another week away so Pedo stays. Darwin is very physically taxing, and Pedo is a grunt running swing man. For me, we are and will remain, a better team with Pedo in it.  He stays.

After the Darwin game it is all systems go aiming at a finals berth, so perhaps we rest Hannan and Hunt who are really important to our September push.

Kent, Stretch and Melksham will hold their place due to Darwin.

OUT: Hunt, Hannan

IN: Tyson, Trengove.

Would like to see JW back in asap. Hes been out 3 weeks and I'm noticing the turn around time for players to get back in their groove Although JW is probably the exception to the rule. Finals a knockin and we need all hands on deck and in peak form.

Must address the centre clear. issue of today. Alarmingly carltons was 3 times higher than Dees. Not common to the have such a deficit and win.

Playing TIO Stadium, small ground, no way we play 4 talls.

Could easily replace Kent with BenKen.

You've essentially offered up a like for like so I'm not sure of your point.

Just realised we play Adelaide on a 6 day break they have 8.. On all of our recent three 6 day breaks the opposition has always had the maximum break possible.. [censored]

It is just unbelievable.  Can not believe this fixturing.  Peter Jackson can not allow this crap to happen ever again.

But isn't that the problem? He's now being asked to play also as an insider, and then with the absence of insiders, there's less opportunity to stand back and be that linkman. Also, he does have decent/good disposal, but only when he has time.

It's an interesting one, not sure of the solution.

Yes he is being asked to play an insider and therefore out of position. I think Tenners would be a much better bet. Saw him play vfl this week. Whilst he did not set the world on fire, he is all class, and can kick - straight!

Yes we had 3 of our most senior inside onballers out - Viney, Jones, and Tyson. This will be fixed when they come back and Max runs into form.

To win last night an outstanding effort in the circumstances. I expect Darwin to be a re-run of the Swans game, thereafter with much of our midfield back plus JW, a very strong finish for the year. Tmac up forward a huge bonus for us - isn't it wonderful to have such a reliable kick for goal??

Vince is out of contract this year. Is 32yo. Not sure he will get another run after this year. Served us well during our down years.

No way will Lewis play out his 3rd year.

Desperately missing viney and jones. We were smashed around the clearances. Hopefully Tyson is right as he will help in this area.

We won the game due to their injuries. Goodwin will need to come up with a plan to at least break even in this area

THis just underlines the importance of continuing to buld the midfield, through the draft and free agency,

Lewis and Vince are almost done, and Jonesy can't go forever. And there are question marks on Brayshaws health.

Jason Taylor might take mids at every pick this upcoming draft. He will be licking his lips that we are back in the first round.

Hogans second efforts were a disgrace. completely non existent.  it's embarassing. And this has got nothing to do with being out of form or fitness its about mental intent. And its a part of his game thats never been addressed or fixed. Needs to be dropped. Cant afford to carry guys who don't chase. People have a go at guys like melksham and even in previous seasons guys like Dunn. but at least they have a crack.

Agree with Melksham. He does some frustrating things by foot, but works very hard. I will always back a player if they are giving 100% of their ability.

Agree I said before I would give Hoges the rest of the year off to recover mentally and physically

I really hope the club sees the sense in this I really think Hogan may give up footy sooner rather than later

I hope he doesnt but it must be incredibly difficult for him particularly if he struggles for form over the next month

Kent was awful today and don't need pedo next week.

Out: Kent, pedo

ps has Damien Barrett seen Tyson play yet by the way?

Kent was awful in first qtr, some of his efforts were atrocious and i was frustrated as anyone. But his effort improved as the game went on. He is rusty but id give him another week. If he can get back to the 2-3 goals per game he us capable of, then that must be worth giving him another 1-2 weeks. It must be his last chance though.

In      Tyson

Out   Stretch

Smith and Kent can have another go around. Smith in particular will be better for the run and Kent was pretty solid after quarter time.

Absolutely agree. Looked way off the pace. Cannot afford to have players "finding form" in the ones, especially at this crucial stage of the season. Back to Casey

I wouldn't be surprised if Hogan steps out himself and takes a week off. But being critical of his performance is silly. His presence is undoubtedly important, and the likes of Garlett, ANB, and yes even Kent are better when he is in the side, regardless of his output. His last quarter was very good.

Hogan was not at his best but creates a presence in the forward line that results in its overall efficiency. The opposition cant ignore him and even down on form he poses a threat. Sending him to Casey is not the way to build his confidence and form.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
