Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

At the end, when Neal Bullen had the ball in hand, I was screaming for one of the leaders to come up behind Neal Bullen and have a word in his ear. " Where are the leaders, where are the #**{>>!{{ leaders ???? "  Well, one went to the half forward flank and received the ball from Neal Bullen to get 30 more of the seconds off the clock. Thank you Jordan Lewis.

Smith did some good things. It's his second AFL game! Give him a break.

Hogan didn't do a lot but his presence further up the ground was very important. Gave Tom more space up forward.

Totally agree, how is a kid that's been put with a shoulder injury straight back in after one game? Seemed like a very strange selection when we probably needed someone with senior experience given our injury list.

It was a mistake as was probably Hogan in hindsight. It happens. Tmac has again stamped his name as interim captain. Never understood why the poll was so close.

As I said in the gameday thread, good teams find ways to win when they are playing poorly.  This was our game today.

Carlton beat us in many statistical areas today, but we constantly found ways to kick crucial goals and keep up the scoreboard pressure when we needed it the most.  That was the difference today.  Miss a few shots on goal and it halts our momentum and take away our confidence.

We will have more scrappy games to come with some of our midfield generals out, and we are also going to play better sides in the next fortnight, but this shows the playing group that we can win under ANY circumstances.  It creates belief in the playing group and an understanding that we can beat ANYONE.

Many many thank T MCD. You are an absolute star, yes as a forward.

He will kick 40+ this year you watch.

How good is that!

Channe 7 reporting Oliver threatened the Carlton supporter. Sounds to me like a sook playing the victim who can't take what he gives or wants five minutes of fame.

I feel like I put this in here most weeks, but:

Clayton Oliver - 29 touches, 9 tackles, 15 contested possessions and 6 clearances.

Clarence, we love you!

Yes, for a second season player, he is outstanding. In fact, he is pretty damn good for a player with any number of seasons under his belt. He had to stand up today, without Viney and Jones, and he did. Impressive.

Every time T Mac kicks for goal I have to watch through my fingers (remembering some of his kicking from the backline).

he just doesn't miss. 18-4 for the year is simply outstanding.

keep it up!

Who's the [censored] who kept saying we'd lose?

Me.

But seriously we were terrible today, our style of play relies on too much possession and opposition teams just walk through our tackles.

Oliver was back to his best who was a huge positive and ANB's pass to Lewis at the end is one of the most intelligent things a Melbourne player has done in years.

Plugger has been amazing, what a great month he is having.

We take the four points and move on.

I forgot Jetta, the bloke is a star but we all knew that already.

If thats the case 7 and or that fan should be up for defamation. Oliver spoke for 4 seconds how could he have threatened him. "Im going to fyu'......as if he said that. Media get carried away. He probably said go fys which was probably appropriate.

I don't know whose idea it was but that sideways kick to Lewis at the end was pure genious.  A shot at goal and a miss gives them the chance to run down the other end and kick a goal.  Instead Lewis could take another 30 seconds off the clock.

It was Lewis. Nothing like the voice of experience. For all the Lewis knockers on here, we should acknowledge he will help us win more games than not.

I think the Oliver incident is simple. Nicky Winmar proved that players have a right to play without being abused.

A ticket to the footy is not a free excuse to abuse people. Especially when the supporter obviously said something that offended Clarry, but then didn't like it when he gave him something back.

We all go to the game to see the players at their best, not to listen to Jo Public abuse. The AFL needs to continue to focus on that - especially in a season where we've had multiple players take time out for their mental health.

It had all the signs of a disaster. Team with nothing to lose (and that's an important factor in itself), employing a rope-a-dope game plan versus a side needing to win but hit by injuries and feeling the pressure of both these things. I kept waiting for the [censored]-sandwich ending but it didn't come.

And as for that supporter, not unIike the club doctor, Carlton seems to have no shortage of squealers.

Been calling it all week. The game was won and lost in the contested ball and in the air. We won pivotal contests and marked importantly in the last moments. Our good were our defenders in the end? Our midfield was pansied but Oliver was still probably BOG. Jetta close behind.

Agree- they should have thrown the slob out or shoved something in his mouth to stop him whinging to the security guard for the next quarter.

Anyone know how to break down free kicks quarter by quarter? Also, who said Watts will be back next week? I suspect he'll be 3 to 4 from the pre-swans training session aggravation (a re-tear), so will miss the next 2 at least.

Not sure why people are saying it was a krap game. I thought it was bloody fantastic considering the outs we have.

Lucky Carlscum lost their rotations early

Max - Where did the AA ruckman go? Invisible around the ground.

Smith and Jesse. Great to see you both back, but those performances were an advertisement for a ressies game prior to return.

Jetta. Goodness me. What a frigging star of a defender. No plaudits from outsiders, but geez he can play. Saved the game for us late.

Melksham - yuck. What a shocker, save the late goal.

Wagner - How long is Salem out for again? Turnover king.

Oliver - Brownlow hands. Faster than I have ever seen.

T-Mac - Just wondering if he might be playing himself out of a backline spot for good.

Gutsy, hard fought win.

Exciting, and not the "winning ugly" that I was hoping for. I honestly thought it was a great game of footy.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
