The bald umpire- number 15.

He's on my list.

What made it worst was he was joking and laughing with a north player as they walked off at 3/4 time!!

Appalling stuff and a terrible look especially after giving them all the 50/50 and soft calls and not giving us any of the obvious ones let alone the 50/50.

We lacked spread first 15 of both halves which cost us the game. We continued to bomb it to no one. Effort at the contest was par but the first point and shocking turnovers (jones) coupled with missed opportunities (Bugg) cost us. Trac, Salem, Clarry, Hunt all had quieter than normal impacts. last week was no more than an incremental improvement rather than a break out moment or false dawn. The rollercoaster continues. Reset and go again.

We're the catchup footy specialists....who don't quite catch up.

Top game plan btw

Worst part is ONCE AGAIN riding for an hour home on the train with the hundreds of other dejected demons supporters.

Same look, different week.

Weeds is getting game because of his height.

A 195cm wooden post would have more of a physical presence and impact than Weideman. Keep him at Casey for the rest of the year, he is clearly not ready, and gifting him games when he doesn't deserve them won't help his development. Same goes for OMAC.

I'm so sick of this sh!t. I'm so sick and tired of Goodwin's post match interviews of 'it's not the type of footy we want to play'. It's getting predictable. You're the bloody coach!! You have a whole week to get your team to try. That's all..try! If the players aren't buying into Goodwin then he needs to go. Simple as that. I don't care how early it is or as good as our win against adelaide was. We're not consistently trying! Pathetic.

Also for fellow demonlanders, you guys were calling for Hannan's head but clearly you don't know anything about footy. He needed a string of games to feel at home on an afl ground and this performance was always coming. He played a good game today and would've lost by more without him.

Now for the umpires. Disgusting. That lack of 50m against Bugg was pathetic. Yes, Bugg should've kicked it anyway but it was an absolute buzz kill. I'd like there to be a review into that decision and whichever umpire was in the prxominity to be sent back to country footy until they understand what a 50m penalty is set up for.

Petracca, terrible!! fumble fingers and kicking is sh!t. How long does it take for him to build a tank and play as a midfielder. He shanked the ball so much today. disgusting.  Get some bloody awareness and stop getting chased down from behind. My God!

Oscar McDonald. I seriously can't put up with this guys sh!t for 10 more years. I've already gone through Tom Mcdonalds lack of awareness, disposal and lack of basic human IQ for many years, how can I go through another 10!!!

The club has physio's, specialised coach, psychologists, doctors, motivational speakers etc. at their disposal all week and they put up cr@p like that in the 1st quarter. disgrace. I want to say we 'should be near the top of the ladder' with all of our close losses but what's the point of making finals if we don't even try. These guys get paid to shank the ball for 2 hours and play one-way football. I can't take another calm Goodwin presser.

Season is over.

Bugg was actually very good today.

Frost was terrible- then awesome.

Jones was immense.

We were too short and couldn't get a free kick.

Kent wasn't great.

Weeds is getting game because of his height.

How can you come to this conclusion?

I can recall 6 attempts at goal for a return of 4 behinds. He was horrific.

Well,
We've gone from being the worst team to follow, to the most frustrating team to follow over the last year and a bit. I guess that's better, but it doesn't make me feel better this season. At the very least we're keeping our percentage nice, in case it clicks later in the year.

OUT: O'Mac & (maybe) Kent
IN: Not sure for O'Mac, Ben K for Kent?

I'd like more changes, but I don't quite see where they will come from right now, and I'm talking KP players.

Another wasted opportunity!

Most of the team is still in Adelaide!

Most of team were still thinking of their best win last week!

Another deflating Sunday to ponder what could have been, Nth,Hawks,Freo,Tigers.....

Definite Mental Toughness issues!!!!!

The point being he had those chances. Screwed them up, absolutely. But if he hadn't he would have been the second coming on this board.

Not as bad as Salem getting hauled out of bounds - taken off the ball - only for the free kick to go against him. The club should demand to the AFL that Nicholls doesn't umpire a Melbourne game again. He cheated. Plain and simple, and I never whinge over umpiring. Today was clear bias. It was a game full of terrible decisions. Cost us the game.

Went in against one of the premier ruckmen in the competition without a recognised ruckman. Proved the difference.

We will struggle most weeks against the better ruckman. Spencer/Gawn can't come in soon enough

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los
