If he can't get up after 6 day breaks his future must be bleak to say the least.

However they would do it, they should have a definite plan, and announce it before the event, unlikely as it may be.  But they don't and they won't.

They actually do... It's the afl regulations 2.5 if the percentage is exactly the same then the premiership points between the games against the two clubs, if that is the same then the percentage against the two clubs then a toss of the coin.

KC from Casey opened a new thread on this weekends game which has been immediately closed.

WHY?

what is the story here Mods?

Strange !

The only thread KC opened was this one.

It's still open OD. I suspect that the other thing that might be open is your bottle of malt. ??

You do realise that Dawes wasn't dropped don't you? Roos publicly stated that he was rested as he didn't come up after 6 day breaks.

I suspect, given the way his body is struggling, that he may retire at season end, especially given when asked about Dawes future recently, Roos went out of his way to be non-committal. In a side with only 5 players over 25, surely you can understand why had been regularly picked despite his fundamental flaws?

Semantics, dropped or rested...he wasn't playing well enough and would have been a liability against the Hawks. Was never going to play.

...and since when is being over 25 a key selection criteria?

Lobbe an interesting selection...they've gone in with Trengove playing ruck most of the season.

If anyone remembers the preseason games (obviously Hinkley doesn't), big Max gave him a bath. That game set up Max's season.

I think you'll find out that's not quite how percentage works. Just like in the extreme example 2-1 is 200% and 101-100 is 101% despite the difference being 1 in both cases

I think you'll find that absolute percentage here is not the driver, it is relative percentage compared with Norf.  Furthermore, I think you'll find that it is the points for / points against comparison between the two sides that is the determinant and that currently sits at 138 points in Norf's favour.  It doesn't matter how the gap is bridged in terms of them losing big or us winning big, so long as that net deficit is eliminated.  Perhaps avail yourself of a calculator.....

Our mini elimination final, this is as close to a knockout final as we've played in for a while, if we win this i suspect we'd probably beat the Blues and go into a Cats game that we won last year on the back of 4 in a row and real momentum.

i can't see North winning again this year, and i think the Swans will beat the Saints which means the Saints have to make up a big % gap on North to play finals, where our gap with them is far more manageable over 3 games.

My Middle Eastern Bookie is offerring 150 : 1 Demons to make the 8 Sports bet 101

It should be head to head record not a stupid toss of the coin.

If I recall correctly back in 2011 we drew with the Swans in Round 1.

As a result both teams obviously had the same points and percentage. (2 and 100%)

The ladder at the end of Round 1 that year had Melbourne 8th and Sydney 9th.

Ladder positions were determined alphabetically.

Should we conclude this season on the same number of wins and percentage as North it would be an awesome twist to knock them out of the finals ALPHABETICALLY.

Would love to point out to them that changing their name from Kangaroos back to North Melbourne cost them a finals berth...

I am sure that the AFL, in their infinite wisdom and with their infinite foresight and judgement, would dream up some sort of solution on the run.

I think finite is the word you're searching for Mono.

"Make it up on the run" has been a directive to the umpiring department this year. Must say they are doing it magnificently !!!!!! Especially numbers 2 and 33.

Well that would be really bad for us then. :-(((

Number of wins in the second half of the season would be far better :-)))

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
