Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Even for you. that was a stupid comment.  If Rawlings was average. Clarkson was a spud. Ross Lyon too, Sheedy, and many others.  Paul Roos picks him - but what would he know.

Yes this is a surprise to me. He's big and strong but I would have thought short of match fitness.

According to some on here Vanders wasn't to miss more 4 weeks. Surely after 6 games he's ready?

I don't think we can actually afford to cut more than one of Kent, Harmes and Kennedy. Their pressure roles are vital to our forward press.

That's well and good 'Adam' but they have been providing no pressure at all in our down games. In fact they are a big reason for the loses.

You're backsliding OD. Yeah, I know you're being realistic but I guess even the fact you think it will be only 8 goals is encouraging. When you think about last year's 105 point debacle, 48 points seems okay.

Dees by 23!!!

You watched last week Rev?

did you notice Port kick our arse by scoring at will and the only  change we make to the back line is Garland out because he is injured. Grimes and Dunn have forgotten more than 4 of that line up will ever know.

we have been failing at the selection table for a month and the trend continues.

You can't pin what happened against port, and the saints for that matter, on the back 6.

The centre line was pushing right up and weren't sticking tackles, or had sprinted to put themselves in to an attacking position only to be caught out.

They were out of position up the field, so the backs needed to move up and cover which left space in behind.

Its team defense these days.

VDB - baffling inclusion

Kennedy - baffling omission

Grimes, Pedersen and Dunn - baffling non-recalls

Oscar McDonald and Kent - baffling that they've stayed in

Again, I'm scratching my head. Why are we bringing in THREE underdone players against Hawthorn? Just doesn't make sense.

Seems a good team to me. Dying to see Frost down back, seems a natural defender. In for Col. Trenners for Viney. Kennedy has been average since round 4. ANB doesn't add much. VDB is a gun I'm happy to rush him back in. Big body against the hawks makes sense. Oscar Mc... Needs time at the level before we make a call I think. We're gonna have a crack this weekend I think.

Not a bad way to remind Trenners about the step up from VFL to AFL level by chucking him straight in the guts against someone like Sam Mitchell.

Perhaps even against Sam Mitchell?

I watched in a bar in Hong Kong with my son. we drank more beer than I could afford to pay for and ended up in a whisky and cigar bar which cost me even more. I've forgotten most of what happened last week. I do remember Hogan taking a couple of nice grabs, beers X many and Glenmorangie and cigars and a taxi and.............

Dees by 23.

I agree, but others don't have the pace to play that role. For example, ANB can't play it because he's too slow. Neither could Trenners or even Brayshaw.

I agree with this too. Most people have probably read my thoughts on him.

This is the on-going problem for this lot. They either aren't on at the commencment of the game (we lose it in the first 5 minutes) or they go to sleep in a quarter where we lose it. They have not been 100% on this season so far. it appears as if they aren't motivated or put to sleep by Mrs Roos' Yoga / relaxation techniques

I hope they are 100% on this week I would love to see it sustained for a whole game

It's all about Roos poor game style. It relys on every being at 100% which very rarely happens.

Blow the cobwebs out against a team we won'tbeat to have them right for the QB game where we have a chance.

Only reason I can think of for VDB inclusion.

Who was it that said the other day every week people freak out over selection we win? A good sign then.

I like the changes. Great to have trenners back in, a good replacement for Viney - Jack for Jack. Dawes brings more balance to the forward line which was too small. Plus he will finally be fit - he cops a lot on here but I suspect he's only played a handful of games for us when he's been 100%.

Frost will play as the third key back - which suggests that the zone defence maybe softened a little this week. VDB always gives 100%. And Oliver will make us more dangerous in the middle.

I'm a Kennedy fan, but he didn't do much last week, think he'll be back in the team soon enough.

Let him learn the game at Casey.

I'm much happier to play OMac in a side with two other big backmen. I think he could be OK as third tall alongside his brother and Frost and adds versatility. Has been hopelessly exposed as 2nd KPD though and I'm against playing him in situations like last week.

One thing Ive noticed this year is that when we dlanders are made completely confused/ angry by the selections the team usually does really well. Hoping that trend continues.

Mind you, doing really well against the hawks would be getting within 6 goals.

You're probably right.

I think they seriously misjudged last week and thought we'd get over the line with the sameish team as has been playing all year. I think it has probably put a massive spanner in the works, because we'll get monstered this week running a number of players into AFL match fitness.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
