Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

How many will Hogan get on Saturday?

Followed the Dees since 1971 and can only recall someone kicking double figures twice, Jakovich and Lyon. Explains why I find this thread absurd.

I've been following the Dees since 1897 and wow, what a day out Fred Fanning had.  I was there.  He should have kicked 25.  I've seen plenty get in double figures, Hogan will do the same tomorrow and bring back memories of Arthur Cox kicking 12 for us in the 1903 semi final.

Yes I remember it well. The umpires crucified us that day and I thought the downpour in the 3rd quarter would ruin the day. 1d halfpenny for a decent serve of chips. Those were the days !!!!!!!!!!

Hogan will draw a double team most of the day making me think it will be a good day for crumbers. I think Jeffy has a ripper and kicks 4.

Not sure about hogan. 2-5 sounds realistic.

He will not kick a bag. They will put every ounce of their energy into smashing him and triple teaming him, and given his previous display of attitude when things aren't going his way, I would say he won't kick more than 3.

Watts usually plays well against Essendon and given his current form I bet he will kick more goals than Hogan.

Anyone's guess, really. Essendon might decide to try to double/triple defend against him, in which case he might just kick three. (I've decided that for 2016 his default is 3/game, like it was 2/game in 2015).

A figure I'm more interested in will be the clearances difference. We romp all over them when it comes to genuine inside, solid bodied midfielders, and this figure should just climb and climb as the game goes on and the bruises accumulate on their admirable but lightly built second gamer, their old and underdone tagger, and their misplaced and confused flankers who have had 8 weeks notice that they are starting in the centre square!

It would be a sweet sweet sight to see a string of decisive centre clearances cut through inside 50, goal, back to the centre, repeat.

If this game turns into a true blowout, that'll be how.

Notwithstanding Bob's excellent summation, I'm going to use more of a mathematical equation.  We averaged 44.5 inside 50's last year, but have shown a vast improvement in this area over summer and round 1.  On the back of 56 entries last week I'm expecting 60+ this afternoon.  Jesse averaged a tick over 3 shots at goal last year from 44.5 i50's, so I'm expecting between 5 and 6 shots at goal tomorrow.

After implementing all relevant data I can tell you that he will kick 4 or 5 goals depending on accuracy.  This all assumes that there aren't any special circumstances that contribute to an abnormal result.

Jesse will kick either 4.2 or 5.1.

More like how much will his contract offer drop.

Seriously what is going on with him? Looks completely lazy. Didn't even half jog to put pressure on his man waltzing away at times.

No wonder we lost.

Our fans are as ahead of themselves as our players. Good job guys.

Hogan got towelled by Gwilt and top ups.

And the MFC isn't doing him any favours. Bulking him up when he came back out of shape. Playing him deep forward when he's always been a natural CHF.

Incompetent coaches creating a lazy footballer out of a kid who worked his backside off last year.

On a day full of [censored] disappointing moments, one of the worst for me was just after Jones had the shot at goal in the last and Hogan gave the free away. It would have been a point anyway, but instead of standing the mark Hogan threw the arms out and started gesticulating to where (I assume) he thought Jones should have kicked it to his advantage.

The guy didn't run off him while he was having a whinge at the skipper, but it was just a terrible look while the game was still well and truly in the balance.

Some home truths have to be dished out to young Jesse.

I'm not inside the club, and this probably isn't the case, but you get the impression from the media we are walking on egg shells around him trying to keep him happy. He needs a big rocket.

Hogan is overrated. There, I said it.

Yes he is. but still good. hes being played out of position and his attitude absolutely stinks. Should be at CHF taking one on one contested marks on the lead and out in space. his field kicking is exceptional and could be hitting up leads inside 50.

Perhaps a spell at casey to straighten his attitude out. as ive said elsewhere, i believe he will move on next year and if he doesnt have any personal success this year it just makes it more likely.  It will be a "needs a fresh start" kind of thing.  personally i'm not as bothered as some by that thought. time and time again we all get shown that AFL footy doesn't reward teams with an individual gun as much as teams with an even spread of talent.

im sure the club isn't tip toeing around him out of fear he will leave. his attitude needs to change big time. daniher made him look 2nd rate today. he is on the path to becoming another sook who couldve been more. lets hope the club can turn him around so at least we get some good currency next year

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
