Parish's first three kicks were all absolute shanks.

Crowley is going to be very good for the Bombers this year if he can stay fit. There's quite a bit to like about the Bombers still, more so than Carlton at any rate, who admittedly are missing six of their better players.

Strange times indeed, the drug lords and no Feltcher in the side.

You can't just hate a player because we didn't pick him..........Parish had a very good debut and looks comfortable playing alongside men.

Agreed that the Geelong team was top heavy, especially up forward. Question is what does that do for Mitch Clark and his chances of getting back into the side after last year's injuries and other dramas.

Just reported that he's suffered another calf injury.

I was never happy with having GWS in round one and they are looking alright tonight - a very healthy looking list for this time of year.

The NAB Challenge is up a notch in intensity this year.  I think teams are less willing to 'ease into' the year and wanna hit the ground running for round one.

I see on Twitter that Mumford has injured his toe and will take no further part in the game.  Handy out if he doesn't play round 1.

Never one to celebrate an injury to a player, but that's the 'out' we need.

I feel the same way.  Never good to see players injured, but he is a possible 'out' that could swing the game in our favour.

The one thing GWS did well tonight was with their forward pressure.  Often they forced the Swans to kick the ball forward blindly and they were able to hit them quickly on the rebound.  Their run, of course, is also a strength and we will need to negate this to put ourselves in a good position to win.

Would anyone notice if we swapped Heater for the Prince??

If we need an injury to an opposition player to swing a game then we haven't really improved much if at all.

Let's play their full team and win with no excuses.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
