Changes vs Essendon

but that rest was BEFORE the concussion. I agree, but the pattern of the year suggests Roos rests players who aren't cherry ripe.. Jetta got a concussion and missed 3 matches

he didn't suffer from concussion, he had what sounds like an injury to the neck.

if he's right, play him. if he's not, don't. we shall see, i guess.

i've come around to the idea of fitz being in.

if he's in, and presuming brayshaw is passed fit:

B: Jetta - Fitzpatrick - Dunn

HB: Garland - T. McDonald - Cross

C: Tyson - N Jones - Brayshaw

HF: Watts - Dawes - vandenBerg

F: Howe - Hogan - Garlett

Foll: Gawn - Vince - Viney

I/c: Toumpas - Lumumba - ANB

Sub: JKH

Emerg: Stretch - Jamar - M Jones

if brayshaw misses, stretch comes in.

the idea of n jones, vince, viney, tyson, vandenberg, brayshaw and occasional stints from lumumba, garlett, cross, and toumpas being a midfield rotation is very encouraging.

Were you watching the Simpsons while writing this post?

Because there is a simpsons quote in the middle of your post.

It's like:

<Jobe Watson-related post>

UNRELATED SIMPSONS QUOTE

<Jobe Watson-related post>

Just drawing a comparison on the level of bafoonery displayed by both Jobe and Homer.

OUT: Matt Jones, Rohan Bail, Billy Stretch, Jake Spencer

IN: Jack Grimes, Jay Kennedy-Harris, Aaron vandenBerg, Heritier Lumumba

B: Neville Jetta, Tom McDonald, Colin GarlandHB: Heritier Lumumba, Lynden Dunn, Jimmy ToumpasC: Daniel Cross, Jack Viney, Jack WattsHF: Angus Brayshaw, Chris Dawes, Jeremy HoweF: Jeff Garlett, Jesse Hogan, Jay Kennedy-Harris

FOLL: Max Gawn, Bernie Vince, Nathan JonesI/C: Jack Grimes, Aaron vandenBerg, Dom Tyson

SUB: Alex Neal-Bullen

Is Grimes part of our midfield rotations?

Grimes has had plenty of opportunities, we've seen what he can do and it's not enough. He is no longer best 22 and should be on the trade table at years end.

A quote rom Bomber Blitz to get you pumped for this Saturday's game. Give 'em hell boys:

- If there was ever a team that we owe a few upset wins against its melbourne. So sick of walking out of the MCG at the final siren and seeing all those toffs in the MCC members going nuts celebrating. Makes me sick

I never understood the Toff insult. I get that it's a class thing and "Toff" is derogatory, but it literally assumes that being called a well-dressed aristocrat is an insult. I mean, I know some of us are *not* that, but it's an insult drowning in envy.

Embrace that shiz I say!

Pretty harsh. His last few games were very good before he got injured. Disposal was good and decision making was good.

Was Brayshaw subbed due to concussion or due to concern over a possible serious neck injury, that has now been cleared?

About 10 years ago there was three generations of filth supporters standing at the MCG and the kid (about 6-7yrs old) pointed to something in our general direction and said "look", the mother said "yes, there are some Melbourne supporters, not all have gone to the snow" to which I replied, "at least we can afford to go to the snow!"

She shut up at that, looked like she couldn't afford a snow cone. Bloody povo filth supporters.

I watched the St Kilda game and he didn't appear to be visibly carrying a crook shoulder unlike Gary Ablett with all the grimacing and angst with his shoulder when he's played this year. Not even bandaged and taped up that I could see as seems regulation for shoulder niggles. He was quoted as being a 100% fit for this game.

You did see what happened right? Smashed his shoulder in that incident then had a shocker in his 200th. Pretty obvious he was not right, no conspiracy theories here, move on.

You are having a laugh aren't you? Both have been OKAY (Mediocre, did not f%%k TO BADLY, Still made mistakes but had others playing well around them, still miss easy goals and butcher their kicking) when we have won, but they are horrible heartless fottballers who squibb the contests and crucify us with their sh23THOUSE foot skills.

Ben Newton may have a future, Michie may have a future, JKH has a future .....enough is enough. I would rather lose with kids getting experience than persist with these duds.

Playing the kids and getting rid of the older players worked so well for us in the past, why not give it another go?

Not really, please don't forget he was left out of the rd 1 team and was dropped once or twice after that and coming back into the side because of our injuries. How many of the other 17 teams would he get a game in? We need to move on. Would love to know what he's earning.

Yeah right because if you are an Essendon supporter you grew up on the mean streets of Ascot Vale, Aberfeldie, Moonee Ponds and Strathmore.

Maybe because we now have a professional coaching panel and off field team.

Sarcasm mono. Would be a grave mistake to do it again.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this and felt this was the best place for it, so here is Titus O'Reilly's 'preview' of the game this weekend. It sums up exactly how I feel about it..

Saturday

Essendon vs. Melbourne (MCG) 1.40pm

Speaking of danger games, if Melbourne lose this, it will arguably be their biggest low point and that’s really saying something.

Playing Essendon at this point is like a UFC match where the ref has let it go on too long. The Bombers are out for the count.

Their captain is gone for the rest of the year, the players are mentally fatigued from the scandal that has no end and they don’t have a coach.

Really, Hird should go back to where he came from — France.

Even worse than those things, they bought in Mark Neeld and Neil Craig to help out. That’s like seeking out Bernard Tomic’s dad to coach your teenage tennis prodigy.

Apparently, Essendon players and coaches held a two-hour honesty session on Monday.

The fact the club has to make a special time for ‘honesty’ probably speaks volumes.

I’m told having Tania Hird in the corner taking notes put some people off.

If the Dees lose this they should just pack up shop; AFL doesn’t have to be for everyone.

I’m pretty worried as a Dees fan. After all, Melbourne lost to Essendon in the NAB Challenge when the Dons were playing top up players, which were basically Melbourne’s cast offs.

Melbourne are returning from a game in Darwin and have often struggled the week after. Luckily they took the second half off last week so should be OK.

I’m going to go against tradition and one of my key rules for living and tip Melbourne but if Essendon win, I deserve everything I cop from Bombers fans

Got to keep ANB in, he is doing his job and will benefit more in the long term playing in the 1's. Gus appears fine and should play, I understand all the concern about Gus (and people suggesting resting Hogan again last week) but if they are right to play and there is no added risk, play your young guns. There is no point putting players who make a difference in cotton wool because we fear for the worst due to supporting MFC for years.

HL, Grimes and Vanders (start and sub off if he gets tired) to come in.

Bail, Spencer and Jones to come out.

JKH can wait and Spence is dropped due to expected wet conditions. If there was to be another change it'd have to be JKH for Stretch, but I'd prefer Stretch this week.

Ok heres my idea.

How about we trade you off to bomberblitz for a bag of spuds.

Haha in all serious i knew you couldn't handle yourself. You start a thread of complimenting how well he played against St Kilda and you mentioned you were willing to give him time. I said to you will be straight off the wagon once he puts in a poor game.

I knew you couldn't keep to your word. [censored] nuffy.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res
