Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

anyone considering the Agrade mid Roosy alluded to might be Ollie Wines?

perhaps first pick and toumpas?

Don't imagine that Port would take that for Wines, and I haven't heard any noise about him wanting to leave yet.

That said, Wines is off contract in 2016 and we should maintain contact just in case he entertains leaving at that point.

He'd be close to the no.1 young midfielder at any club that I'd love us to have.

leave off Motlop for a moment.

*give Gawn to the blues for Yarran & a pick.

Yes lets trade a 23 year old ruck man who we have invested 6 years in and has finally arrived and is showing all the hallmarks of being the next dominant ruck in the AFL

and you wanna trade him for that lazy [censored] Yarran

There is a lot of talk about how Geelong will manage its list given the number of aging stars it has. Should we consider offering one of them a lifeline ala Daniel Cross and Paul Chapman?

I think Steve Johnson looks finished and I cannot see Enright, Bartel or Lonergan (contracted) going anywhere. But James Kelly looks to be still going well and would fit in well to our midfield nicely. Matty Stokes has been up and down this year, but has still played half a dozen good games. Jared Rivers was in excellent form early in the year. And Andrew Mackie is still good enough to go again.

Enright, Corey (33yr 10mth)
Johnson, Steve (32yr)
Bartel, Jimmy (31yr 7mth)
Kelly, James (31yr 6mth)
Lonergan, Tom (31yr 2mth)
Mackie, Andrew (30yr 11mth)
McIntosh, Hamish (30yr 10mth)
Rivers, Jared (30yr 9mth)
Stokes, Mathew (30yr 7mth)

I actually hope we hold onto Howe and even try give him a spell in the midfield. I beleive he can be a really damaging big bodied mid if used correctly. To find utilities as good as Howe with the skill set he has is tough.

We have some depth in terms of talls at the moment due to having players like Howe/Watts on our list.

If we end up recruiting more midfielders at the expense of talls and we have a few go down injured early next year it could impact our team. It has happened before and now we have good depth in talls I want us to try to retain it.

Jack Hutchins would have to be a chance for a rookie spot, like the look of him. No way would i consider Leuy, would rather sign Jamar for another year than waste 3 years and 500 plus per season on a dinosaur

if he does stay he showed yesterday where he plays his best footy. Hes always looked at home across half back using his leap/marking ability to intercept opposition kicks

Hes a terrible forward and struggled as a mid under Neeld

Prestia would be the best fit for us. One of the elite young midfield talents in the competition. To bring in a 22 year old who would immediately become our best midfielder and ball winner alongside Nathan Jones would be a huge plus. We'd have to give up a first round pick to get him. He was a pick 9 in 2010 who has proven to be worth that and more, with only Heppell from the top end of that draft being as good or better. We should go hard for him if there's even a tiny chance of getting him.

As for Motlop, doubt he'll come to us. We'd have to give up a first round pick and I feel our pick 4+5 is too high. Second round pick and a player wouldn't cut it. We'd need to get another first round pick via a trade to get him and I don't think it's worth it.

We should trade Howe for a first or second round pick IMO. He's inconsistent, doesn't have impact on games despite his physical attributes, therefore he's of limited value to us. We need to build a midfield for the future. Games are won and lost in the midfield and unfortunately ours is still bottom 4. Bringing in Petracca and Prestia if possibly immediately improves it in both the short term and long term. We need quality young mids!

FWIW I also heard that Demons have spoken to Motlop. Heard it this morning, I work in the industry, so take it or leave it, but was mentioned this morning.

I would expect us to be talking to a number of players, and Motlop would be top the queue. We are generally a one paced side and someone like Motlop would instantly bring some x-factor to the middle of the ground that we sorely lack.

I don't think he would come to us but it's pleasing to hear we are well and truly on the front foot.

IMO none of that list FT

We have been the Super Top Up spot too often in the past.

Honestly, for all that I have a lot of respect for that group of players, I don't think any of them are suited to the 'end-of-career consulting contract' we'd be taking them for.

Cross clearly had time left in the game and the Dogs made a bad mistake dumping him, almost as bad as our own club's decision to toss James McDonald. We got lucky, got him cheap, and he has been everything we hoped for.

We should be looking to add players at the free agency age or approaching it, who match our deficiencies. My own thinking is that players like Isaac Smith, Stephen Hill, even the currently out of form but 100% [unknown substance] free Zaharakis, are all at the right age and would each be a valuable addition of speed and 'threat' to our midfield.

It would be better for his music career, might get some gigs in Melbourne at the MCG

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
