Its simple. You have to pay the money. you don't have a choice.

We are just getting crap value

Well the club should be doing something about that.

prescribing the money but deducting amounts from the payment for non performance, someone suggested players paying members fees, who knows creative stuff that may make the players wake up that they too can be creative and maybe that this is serious maybe that they must GAF.

I wrote this in another thread.

Article in todays HUN about Melbourne trying to recruit Tom Lynch.

Further in it says Melbourne is adamant it will not over pay Howe.

List Chief Todd Viney said the club " cannot be foolish about how we spend our money"

"we need to be really disciplined the way we manage our list , so Jeremy is an important player for us, but within the constraints of the model we have got " Viney said.

" We will pay him what we think he is worth and hopefully he is going to be happy with that along with ( how) all the Geelong and Hawthorn players have done".

If there was any doubt Howe will not be at the MFC next year that settles it for me.

I read between the lines that Howe wants more than the MFC thinks he is worth.

Big signal to the fans IMO from Viney and the club.

What makes it worse is that he is probably only playing within his limits and to stop himself from getting injured maybe even under instruction.

This would probably present ill feeling in the team ether and should have something done about cases like this by the ratbag AFL if they care...

I'm definitely tired of the player culture around poorer clubs that in order to retain players they need to pay massive overs as compensation for staying in a poor club.

I'm glad Howe is getting the same treatment as Frawley. The only question is whether we're trying to get a player or a pick in return, and if the latter then what will we demand? Inside the top 10?

I agree with your assessment od. The Club has drawn a line in the sand, and more credit to them for doing it. It's about time!

I get the feeling Howe copped a bit of shock when he saw Melbournes initial offer.

The truth hurts, and it must've have hurt to see what you're really worth instead of what you think you're worth.

Hes worth $120 k per year max

Whatever we get back in a trade will be an upgrade

I wonder if we have since reduced that offer given the last few games he has played. He would gave expected Melbourne to help him bid his salary up, guess he will be sadly mistaken. obviously has delusions of grandeur.

Most recent article fro the Hun (about our play for Lynch) says Gold Coast are leading the chase at the moment.

I find that interesting. Could Bennell be the "A Grader" and "match winner" Roos was talking about? Would it be weird to think that GC might want to offload him?

So I've heard today that he wants $700k. I am presuming that he's having a laff, and just wants out of the Dees.

Well we did try to trade him last season (and with good reason ND7 for Howe is larceny), so I am sure their is resentment.

And don't give me the whole "we don't know the club wanted to trade him" nonsense - he admitted he had an offer in front of him to move which means we agreed to the trade prior to that.

It would be best for all concerned - he can take hangers and kick a goal or two in someones forward line and we get Pick 20 and him out of Hogan's forward line or out of Salem's way...

As I said in the Colin Garland post, what we need are above average players with leadership qualities.

Apart from his ability to take a hangar, he is a below average player with absolutely no leadership qualities.

His field kicking is abysmal. What makes Hawthorn so great? Their field kicking.

If he wants to go, let him go, and see if we can pickup an above average mid-fielder in return.

Howe is yet another player who has been a part of our very poor playing group for several years now - nothing to lose by trading him while we can.

Tell him he's dreaming.

I reckon that's what Jones earns. Seriously if that's true and he gets that elsewhere, that is the biggest daylight robbery since we paid Clark $1mil to walk out on us.

Counter offer: $83 240.

Howe plus a pick or player ( Queensland boy Spencer maybe) for Bennell and Hall.

Not sure if there'd be much chance of that happening.

Howe for Tomlinson sounds like a decent transaction to me, although if we pick up Lynch from the Crows we'd be looking for something else for Howe I'd say.

Scarily, on 98 games, Jeremy Howe has played the 6th most games for Melbourne of any player currently on the list.

Given that we've nursed Howe to 100 games, I hope he starts breeding soon. Otherwise I'm not sure why he has played every game this year.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
