Fully agree Forest Demon.
I find it amusing that people on here were cool with Fev telling the media that Carlton were tanking. In that case, he was supposedly speaking from his conscience (though that conscience and his intellect have been conspicuous in their absence in other situations).
But when Brock did it? Judas I tells ya!
At the end of the day, we need to stop playing the 'woe is us' card, stop rationalizing it by saying how everyone else did it and disown tanking as something that was always not on.
I think that list from Demonblog that showed all the things that had gone wrong since 2007 summed up Brock's situation best of all:
Brock McLean donate $10,000 to Debt Demolition then leaves the club two years later in disgust.

Exactly people berate Mclean because he stood up for what he thought wasn't right for this footy club and at the end of the day he is right. That tanking saga ran by two of the biggest [censored] strainers in the MFC in Connelly and Schwab set this club back a further 6 years.

Brock even mentioned that he felt for Dean Bailey because this was coming from the likes of Stynes, Connelly and Schwab who instigated all this and Bailey had no choice but to go by their orders.

Lets not forget he also donated $10,000 towards out of his own pocket money to help this club.

well its been happening again this year. jockying for early picks.

Always felt it hypocritical that he said all he did when playing for Carlton who were the most blatant tankers of all time. Had very selective vision did Brock.

Admired his support of Gay footballers though.

I just think he is a bit stiff. He played some good games this year if I remember correctly. Some good inside play, managing to get the ball out to the Blues runners and went forward a few times and kicked some goals. Have the Blues picked up a raft of young inside mids? They are unloading a few hard heads this off season.

Sorry, I can't take away the tanking drama. He may well have been the pawn of those who had political aims against individuals on the board or the board itself or he may not. Whatever the case, the effect of his stupidity caused untold damage to the club and I for one, would not like to see him near the place again.

His stupidity was no where as stupid as those who put us in that unholy mess.

Brock really enjoyed his time On the Couch.

Now he has plenty.

Well, I really liked him as a footballer and personally believe MFC stuffed up what could have been a great career. Yes he was slow and the game got past him, but his grunt and awareness were a pleasure to watch and he loved being part of the club. He left because the club was going down the path of "the benefits of losing" and when he was asked, he answered. Could he have been smarter when interviewed?- oh yes, he really is not the sharpest tool in the shed - but I have absolutely no axe to grind with him.

I find the whole thing bloody sad and the whole 2007 - 2013 period a blight on our club and our great game.

Chris Connolly did far more harm to the club than Mclean did.

Recruited 2003 as pick 5 in a weak draft.

He would have been pick 3 but the Dees knew that Sylvia would have been taken by pick 4 so they took Sylvia at 3 instead.

Good choice of career, a prerequisite is you have to be a bit of a wan.ker

He ought to do very well indeed then !!! ^_^

People are quick to have a crack & Brock.....

Brock highlighted the abysmal culture & poor development which occurred during our disastrous era from 07-13.....

Maybe your lack of culture & poor development has seen so many early picks of our club delisted......

We seem to forget that Connolly & Schawb screwed our club with the tanking issues!

Whilst Brock may not have been the best player around, I'm sure our club didn't help his cause!

no excuses for doing what he did, he said the culture of tanking made him leave the Demons but then he goes to a team who are the kings of dodginess in Carlton, who if you haven't forgotten the way they tanked against us in the Kruezer Cup!!!

Get your head out of your ass he stood up for himself and also for Dean Bailey. He could see the toxic culture that was developed and eventually explode into a complete mess.

Also the fact the club told him to take a pay cut after he donated 10 grand is a disgrace! He was a leader and a guy that bled red and blue.

Chris Connelly and Cameron Schwab thought they could get away with their little snide games.

Best thing thats happened to this club is Brock opening up the truth On the Couch.

Huh? Stood up for what was right?

Hello...? He went to ..er ..(cough) ..Carlton. They were even more blatant tankers than we were.

A dead-set moron.

My favourite image of him is of him standing there with his uncle Rickie in their Chesty Bond singlets bragging about their connection to the Moran family.

It amazes me that some of our supporters live in denial of what occurred pre Roos era!

Players walked out of the club because it stunk! Why would Brock donate 10k then want to leave???

Who'd have thought that a former MFC high draft pick player would polarise this forum?

Blind Freddy could see this spud would be delisted

Spuds don't play over 157 games at the highest level

Spuds don't carry to teams to a come from behind finals win in only their third year of footy

This guy who you refer to as a spud donated $10k to helping our club eradicate our debt

I think he has earned the right not to be referred to as a spud

Congratulations to Brock on doing something I have never done on over 150 occasions

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
