He looks like like a big unit. I'm thinking some keyboard warriors on here should shut the [censored] up for once. Yes we paid over but we got who we wanted with the likely chance we have our eyes on someone else in the PSD.

The thing that annoys me is if we wont even use 53 then why couldn't we upgrade 53 and 40 to get back in the 30's.

I'm for giving up 23 to get Frost in now and move back a little in the draft. But to go all the way back from 23 to 40 is huge. Moving down a whole round in the draft is too much for a guy who's still really a speculative type.

Plus GWS charged us absolutely full price for Dom Tyson last year.

Our strategy seems to do what it takes to get the guys we need. Which is fine for Hawthorn. Overpay knowing that you've got a great team and great development model, all you need to do is get the guys in and you'll turn them in to gold. But we don't have that. We do have draft currency, so we need to spend it as wisely as we can.

Instead we get the end of the deal that means Frost has to make it to provide any value to us.

JKH last year at 40

Kent the year before 48

Tom McDonald 53

Neville Jetta 51

You can get some gems post pick 40

Not to mention Lachie Neale 58, Luke Dahlhaus 70, Michael Walters 53, Rhys Stanley 47, Allen Christiansen 40 and Sam Reid 38.

So much sooking from so many who have no idea what might have been really happening! Have some faith - maybe St.Kilda had a trade on the table for Frost that GWS was tempted by. The problem is we had 23 and they had 40 and 53 and that's all the currency there was. If Frost turns out to be a starting 22 KPD replacement for Frawley, we're laughing.

Agree completely Ol 55. Only time will tell whethet we paid unders or overs. Too many armchair generals prepared to throw the towel in because clearly the people running the show have no fortitude or brains. Oh the irony. We traded in identified list weaknesses with the exception of dragging in an elite midfielder. My relatively uniformed view is because we rated 2&3 higher than what others were prepared to pay.

The MFC were into Sam Frost for sometime. Acknowledging that previous MFC football administrations got drafting and trades terribly wrong in the past, this regime is different and switched on. They have identified talent and I for one have faith that this time around the footy department has hit the mark. Let's not get morose over this, even if history tells us we should.

I don't understand how some posters think that St Kilda was playing poker and we blinked. What did St Kilda have to gain from that?

Their position is not improved by forcing us to trade for Frost. The only thing St Kilda could have gained was from us NOT picking up Frost.

As for Frost, I'll show the analysis a bit later when I get some time, but there is a lot of information showing that gorilla taming key defenders usually only present themselves in their early 20s. A number of successful ones were not drafted until then, since it is a position that requires a great deal of physical maturity to become successful, and it's only then that this ability shows itself.

Frost is in the perfect window, where they have shown they can be successful in that role but don't yet have the runs on the board to command huge amounts of attention. I think he's a smart choice.

Just this morning I was thinking our back half is swimming along nicely (pun intended) but was wondering who will take the gorilla forwards. I think this lad will be groomed for the job in the coming years. Just need to have Lumumba floating across to double team for a year or 2.

Spot on. We are crying out for a big unit down back and this kid looks a big unit. Plus he has a couple of years development & some senior experience.

And for the doomsayers, content yourself in the knowledge that if Frost can hold down FB, Tommy Mac at CHB will be turning the ball over further from the opposition goal !

The idea that comes to the fore for mine is there simply is no prize, nor benefit in ending up after trade Week with anything other than youre going to use.

We didnt land the big fish but we sought out specific role players. We STILL have picks 2 and 3, not too shabby and and some room to play.

Seemed the club happy enough to use picks as they did. Fine by me; anything left over is just useless anyway.

There's no point screwing GWS when we are going to want to deal with them for the next few years as their kids keep coming home.

They're going to deal with whoever the plaeyr nominates/whoever gives the best deal, they won't give a [censored] that we bent over for them in this ridiculous trade.

Ridiculous post. You have used logic and considered reasoning to substantiate an argument. What were you thinking? You should have gone off like a rabid Rottweiler instead. Logic and common sense have no place in these forums.

Wow I can't believe we gave up pick 23 for him. Have we re-employed Barry Prendergast?

Let's just wait until we see him play under Roos before making drastic, potentially career ending and downright evil statements about our recruiting team please.

Yeah fair enough, just a bit surprised that we had to use 23 to land him. Won't care in an hour

Hoping Frost comes out in 2015, kills it, every backs into a corner and thinks pick 23 was a bargain.

Good luck to the kid.

I'll reserve my judgement on what pick we should of used until he actually PLAYS a game for us.

Is it just me or does he look way bigger than the 194cms he's listed at?

How so? There''s nothing to reference his height against in those photos.

What did St Kilda gain?

Keep all their draft picks in the 20's and still pick up a young tall in Membrey.

They stood their ground when Swans wanted a pick while we gave up 23.

It's done. Frost is a demon.

I don't know but he is defiantly not 93kg.

Welcome Sam to the club.

I think Axis of Bob is correct that has the makings of a good defender, maybe even freeing up another man (Garland?) for attack. I think pick # 23 is about right.

Looks like he still has room to fill out. Is only 21, after all

This deal is for those that want the list changed quicker than otherwise possible.

ND23 and Frost through the PSD is what we were looking at with our last two list spots.

Now, they have Frost, ND40, ND53, and, potentially, PSD2 as the last four list spots.

So for those that want to see more change, this deal potentially created 2 more changes.

Oh, and we got our targeted replacement for Frawley locked away.

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
