The Viney decision will;drop the crowd by about 5-8k

People are legitimately disillusioned with the game

Lets hope the appeal is successful

I have a number of very tasteful pink ensembles to choose from - some difficult decisions coming up.

you could just go buff, that should be pink enough

oh wait......just thought of a problem, pink and purple would ruin it

Actually. If he doesn't get off, there are at least 4 here that aren't going......

This might be the biggest crowd we play in front of for a while, in terms of non-final or non-public holiday.

Every man and his dog are going.

The only game on in town this weekend.

50-60?

This should be the one game whereby a 50:50 decision to TV it or go; should be pushed to the latter.

MFC youngsters, unlike Collingwood, Hawthorn, Geelong, Richmond etc..., don't get to play in front of finals-density crowds. We owe em a taste.

As a guide:

In round 7 2010 for the same event/game, we got 45,000 so 50K isn't totally out of the question.

I'd say mid 30's should be a conservative estimation.

Last year we only got about 22,000 in round 14.

I expect a really good turnout especially now with jack let off. We are coming off a great win, we can beat the bulldogs, its for a great cause and its our home game. Lets cheer loudly for them and especially Jack.

Well, I made a snap decision yesterday to spend $300 and fly down after footy to watch the Dees play.

I was angry about the decision and I directed towards my savings...

Now I am not angry but I will still be there.

Going to be a good night of football after the BCNA event - I hope we can show something on the Saturday night stage.

That was the night of the pink umpires fiasco if i remember correctly..

Well just like most around here I'm jumping back on the bandwagon. Puke when I think of the Neeld days. Roos will continue to bring the very best out of the group. Hopefully gone are the days G. Lyon/C Connolly/Healy types have any influence within the decision making processes.

We also lost the match.

Not because of him IMO

It was the umpires dressed in Pink that looked identical to MFC players

I can still see Bartram kicking it to the umpire in the last quarter

I like to blame all the problems in my life on he who must not be named.

Gee, I hope we haven't got our hopes up too much. I'd be surprised (pleasantly, of course) if the crowd reaches 30,000. Being the only game in Melbourne over the weekend is an irrelevancy (OK, it might pick up a few hundred) and the Bulldogs have a very small supporter base.

I commend the two clubs on the Pink Lady initiative and hope that it swells the crowd. But while I'm optimistic in most things (I expect a win tomorrow), I'm not so optimistic to expect more than 30,000 at the ground tomorrow night.

Hate to be the party pooper but

1) The Dogs were a top 4 team they won't pull as many supporters

2) at least 10k would've been part of the "Field of Women" and left before the match even stared. No doubt the weather would've played a part, and we will have them again this week but the "crowd" of 45k was probably realistically 35k for the actual match. Still goes to our coffers though so ill take it.

I was going to go but what's this field of sheilas stuff? It's still a blokes game isn't it?. Besides how can I win fashions on the field against sheilas? It's not fair. Especially if Demonland is the judge. Think I'll watch it with the lads.

I'll be there with my pink-accented outfit. Thinking the crowd will be somewhere between 33 000 & 45 000, dependent on the weather.

Do it Bitty. You'll pull and extra 20,000 to the game if you front in your finest pink ensemble.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
