What song should the Demons run out to?

Maybe the 'Land needs a theme song? Whenever, a poster writes:

* about how a certain thread is a waste of time.

* about how there is nothing to see here.

* an uninformed opinion before reading a post in it's entirety.

* how the club should pursue a 'Moneyball' recruiting strategy.

* how someone has an agenda, is trying to destroy the club, is dividing people etc.

this song should be embedded in their post in midi or wav format.

Personally I like the idea of the song before the game starts.

I think it has been reported incorrectly about an entrance song or theme song that every club is going to have.

I go to a lot of games at the G and have heard Richmond play Welcome to the Jungle by guns ‘n’roses as their song last year. They still play “Yellow & Black” as they run out and the away team still has their song played as they run out. The song is played between the captains tossing the coin and the first bounce and is only for about 45-60seconds. Essendon have the big air raid siren and I think that works as well. I don’t know if it was a good choice of song or a good idea but I think it worked, people got a little more excited as the ball bounced compared to other games I’ve been to and that’s what is all about, getting people involved in the game, a little bit more entertainment and people having fun. Who knows, we might get more than 20,000 to a game if they are having fun….a win or two would probably help that as well. If you don’t like the song then just time your beer or pie run so you miss it, that’s what I do with the guy and his trumpet. I can’t stand it but I’m sure there are people that love the trumpeter and good luck to them, they are enjoying the experience of going to the footy.

I don't mind a bit of metallica to get fired up before a game maybe For whom the bell tolls or Seek and Destory

Is that a gay joke? That's about the level I'd expect from you, thinking that calling someone gay is an insult. Grow up dhead.

I see this as a marketing opportunity.

We need to get the next generation of Dees aboard - we NEED to boast our membership numbers and become a force.

This ploy to have a song is purely for entertainment purposes.

So here's what I suggest, get in contact with an artist - say 50 cent, who is business minded and will actually embrace the idea

of Melbourne running out to his song.

In return, when he tours, get him to do a concert in a Melbourne Demons guernsey.

That would go a long way to getting the youth on board, if they see their idol in a Dees jumper, it's all aboard.

Just a suggestion.

You can pick any artist that is touring next year and even line them up to do it - and take it a step further and get them to do it live!

What about Matchbox twenty real world. Because I wish the real world would stop hassling me. Or if we lost we could play long day after. Even though we cant play it after.

I have no idea. It will be interesting to see what the other clubs use. But it has to be something upbeat not something that people go typical Melbourne

And something far more recent from 'Switchfoot' ...if it's not blaring loud it doesn't work ... no wrinklies ...

Sorry Macca but I'm not sure the God fearing boys of Switchfoot would welcome the idea of the Demons playing one of their songs, which is a pity as "darkhorses" would also be a contender. May i suggest a little song by the Beards called "You should consider having sex with a bearded man".

You really add nothing to this site Biffen. Trying to call someone gay because you consider that an insult, what are you 13? Most of us are here to talk footy, and then there's fwits like you who crave any kind of human interaction in their lonely internet based lives so they rely on antagonisation to get attention. Do us all a favour and go on school camp next time the holidays roll around junior.

I don't understand the point of this song.

Grand Old Flag plays as we run onto the ground. If the club wants to change that, they'll have 0 members. So when does this song play? Beforehand? Then no one can see the players, as they're still down the race, so what's the point? Afterwards? Totally out of place, unnecessary, and reminiscent of the bugler, who was not the best (read: was an embarrassing joke).

May I suggest you are half to blame for these constant back and forth jives?

I mean, you keep feeding the antagonist...

I like Biffen and BBO's input, get a sense of humour stuie, it's not all doom and gloom :)

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
