I haven't read every post in this thread - (haven't got the time) but there are a lot of assumptions Gys wants to stay at the MFC and get the best out of himself.

Maybe the kid doesn't want to stay here... maybe hes looking for opportunity elsewhere.

And there is nothing wrong with competition for spots all over the ground - Talls are a lot harder to come by then mids - I am confident we can continue to draft and develop what we have on the list.... What I am not confident is that we have quality talls (obviously now drafting Dawes helps)

But Fitz, Martin & Sellar are not going to hold key positions they're all pintch hitters - We need as many decent talls as we can get

Neeld has a mould.

Those that dont fit will be moved on.

I suspect JG does NOT

Many need to stop fussing over this or that favor player and consider whats best for the team and its balance.

Morton and pick 49 for Pederson is more like it!

Fantastic, the club with the worst midfield in the competition trades out one of its few talented young onballers for a 25 year old, bona fide VFL superstar.

How about we trade Trengove for Cale Hooker next.

God Mr Tim Harrington is getting bent over on every trade this trade period. Someone teach this guy how to negotiate...

This fires sale reflects on FD deficiencies, not the players. We've traded one of our few "potential" A graders for another clubs 25 yo C grader...... Because Neeld didn't have the abiliy to coach him........farken joke this trade.

Done deal. Gys for Pederson

Neeld & Harrington are building a squad to save their jobs next season, and have no interest in building a premiership list.

I thought list management was bad under Bailey & Prendergast, but this is disgraceful.

Cant believe this one. Epic fail on our part not to be able to bring this guy on in our system.

If you are trying to re-build a club based on hard work, commitment to the plan, and hardness in the contest, then you draft OUT those players lacking in these attributes, and draft IN those with these attributed in abundance.

OUT: Moloney, Gyberts, Morton (prob?), Cook, etc...

IN: Viney, Pick 4 (Wines?), Hogan, Dawes, Pedersen, Byrnes, Rodan.

No point holding onto a player who does not fit into the team or culture you are trying to build.

Good luck Jordan. Welcome aboard Cam

Go Dees.

This is the first trade I'm a bit iffy on. Not sure of the need to get Pederson in and positive we (or Gysberts himself) didn't get the most out of Gysberts.

Time will tell on this one. On 2012 form, its basically two VFL players changing places.

Way I look at it:

Who would I trust: gysberts or pederson in the heat of the battle? Pederson.

Who would I trust: morton or rodan in the heat o the battle? Rodan.

Simple as that.

My immediate reaction is disappointment because I always thought Gysberts would be a gun but surely, surely......with the experience we have in the FD (Craig, Rawlings, Leigh Brown etc) we must know what we're doing getting rid of him. I guess it's all about whether you have faith in the Neeld way, or you have doubts and think that the "type" that he is trying to have at the Dees is overdone. I'm on the fence at the moment....reckon I'll know by about Round 11.

I thought olisik was going to take the cake for worst post I'd ever read.

I was wrong.

Wow.

Harrington has no interest in building a premiership list.

Just wow.

Like almost everyone else on this site, I have no idea if this swap is good or bad. The only evidence I have is that Gys failed to get into a D-grade side desperate for players in his role, whereas Pederson couldn't break into a better team where his role was covered by better players. On that basis (and leaving aside the question of what roles we need which I guess the FD knows more than me), the swap sounds like a win.

Im not happy but im calm.

Pretty much where I am. On both deals.

I don't hate the trade, I hate our past recruiting decisions.

I'm howling at the moon.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
