We said the same last year about the Lions, I don't care who we play we just need to improve ourselves and the results will come

Good news... hopefully a win rd 1 in 2013

I'd be pretty disappointed if we lost this game - PA have never beaten us at the MCG - lets keep that tradition!!

Go DEES

We're going to absolutely demolish them.

Norm Smith is back.

The G is ours.

Every other club can G&GF.

So does this mean the darwin games are now off? It isnt a bad thing. Id rather play port on the G.

I cant wait. I rate brisbane a bit higher than Port so im happy to play port even thought I thought round 1 would be a win this year. I do expect to win. Can you imagine the crap and the media if we do lose. I can imagine it now.

But I reckon we will get a good turnout even though it is easter sunday, to see Jack make his debut and our new foward line. Bring it on.

Sounded like good news.

Until I found it it's on Easter Sunday. In the early time slot. Right when many people are sitting down to lunch.

Gutted. I love going to Round 1. It's typically one of the few games of the year where we're not behind in the win-loss ratio, we have new players/recruits/list/strategies, and there's genuine optimism. I'd have loved for us to open 2013 with Viney, Dawes, Byrnes et al to a sizeable group of our fans.

Playing port round 1 is not good. If we win which we should I will drink too much and start running my mouth stating we are a top 8 certainty. If we lose I will drink too much and claim the year is over already.

Thats bs mate.

Your family only has 6 months to give you a reason good enough not to go.

You are gunna miss seeing the first person ever to be charged with Grievous bodily harm on a football field.

Oh well, you can read about it the next day, if your family is ok with you reading a newspaper.

Wow! a Blockbuster first up I'm impressed with the AFL's thinking; funny thing is I said to Mrs Robbie last night that you can bet the AFL will give us a [censored] game, probably against Port first up and wallah, there it is.

I would rather we have a test against a reasonably good team than face the other basket case team in the competition; I want to know where we are as soon as possible and a win, if we do, against Port will tell us nothing.

Surely you can't blame the AFL for this. Should get a decent turn out for round 1 regardless of who we play, so that doesn't really matter. And there is hardly a more winnable game they could have given us than Port at the MCG to get spirits up and some momentum going. To me, it is pretty much the best possible round 1 result. Just have to go out and do the business and win.

I've already wagered a carton of beer and my leftie on this with a mate who's a Port supporter..

I will never learn.

Seriouly we have made our own bed on "fixturing" but fark the AFL they love to play us against Port in the early/late rounds and at rubbish times.

We only get what we deserve so that's about it. I'd prefer to open the season against Richmond, North or St Kilda it would attract a pretty good crowd and would give us an indication of where we were and how our season would be.

I hate wasting games at the G and prefer to play a good side in front of a big crowd.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
