Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

No I didn’t pal. Nor did I drop chest marks out in the open that were lace out pal.

And you played at AFL level intensity in front of 30,000 people as well am I to suppose?

The thread is not about me mate. Obviously you are a, nice little chino wearing boat shoe, toe tapping Melbourne fan boy.

I played good standard local & country footy infront of good crowds.

Jog on Earl.

Wow another faux tough guy, I'm impressed, well actually no

The 1st half was a horrible team performance

Every player got better in the 2nd half including JKH

Never missed a kick or handball, never dropped a mark, never missed a goal in front, yep I've had rhose dreams as well, but back to reality

JKH didn't set the world on fire but he was solid, if Goodwin thinks he was, he will pick him for Geelong, strangely he won't read Demonland before he does

Looked a mile off in the first half but lifted after half time.

He's not a rubbish footballer - he can kick, he can handball, he can tackle, he can read the play, fit enough and a good burst of pace.

But he's small, clearly doesn't relish the rough stuff and he seems to lose confidence very easily. The spilled mark running with the flight off the ball was alarming but credit to him for lifting.

Also think he's also the latest square peg in a round hole trying to play on the wing. Surely high half forward (in competition with Spargo and ANB) and even some centre bounce time is a what he's suited to more than the wing.

Nothing special, but I thought he got better as the game went on.

Defensively he was good, tackling and chasing/pressuring. Offensively, though, not as much. Didn't appear very confident with the ball, didn't seem to get involved in the play too much.

I'd be happy to give him another game next week, see if he can build on this, but I wouldn't be holding my breath.

Poor first half, but positive 2nd half, used the ball well and 8 tackles.

Worth another week.

A couple of very strong tackles. Definitely worth another week. Give him a chance to settle into the AFL intensity. And he’s NOT slow. He has a turn of speed in fact.

Looked more comfortable than Tyson playing on a wing / out of position.

His game was OK and unlike others, I expect him to take a week or two to adjust to AFL level.

He 's a smart footballer with neat skills and maybe just bought himself another game.

Good luck to him.

He tackled strongly and he was quite neat with the ball at times and quick to release.  Had some poor moments but worth another chance.  Probably playing in a position not suited to him as well (wing).

He played a game like this earlier last year too, where he tackled really well and that was about it. At least, he had a couple of good disposals to go with the tackles today.

Not sure he has the tools to make it though. This off season will be interesting. There are probably 4 or 5 in the gun to be delisted and Jay is one of them, although judging by Goody's bear hug on him after the game, he liked what he saw of JKH.

I actually thought he played well? 9 tackles and 15 ddisposal. He can build on todays game..

He did a lot of unrewarding running and i hope over the next few weeks he's rewarded more.

Keep it up JKH!

He's very soft when the ball is in the air. He got beaten a couple of times in the air today and at least one of them resulted in a Bulldogs goal.

Was ok. Got better as the game wore on. Very good defensive pressure. Gets another chance.

Vince and Lewis are destroying my soul

Pretty much sums up my thoughts. Vince in particular, with Jones not far behind.

JKH definitely gets a game next week. He must deliver again next week otherwise his time might be up.

I watched the game from my phone in North Qld and saw this too.

I actually had him mistaken for Jetta a couple of times going for a spoil. Was then surprised with the lack of physicality in the spoil attempts and realised it was JKH.

Thought he deserved his game and he worked into it well enough.  Needs to work on a couple of things, I think he has something to work with at AFL level and offers a point of difference.

Agree, he has the run and skills to play wing, but it's going to be hard to make sure the match ups are right because wings will get kick to 1 on 1's at some stage so they better make sure he's not matched up on a strong marker.

Worked himself into the game in the second half. Looked off the pace in the first. His tackling pressure is something we need more of. I hope he continues the way he finished this game next week. If conditions are not ideal it would suit him.

I personally just think the kid needs some credit.

Hasn't set the world on fire by any stretch of the imagination. Makes mistakes but is still a young player.

Im really glad he has put together a couple of games and I hope he can build on it again today.

GL JKH keep up the good work

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
