Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We've been down that road.

Kochie is a tool.

Bartlett played AFL and is wise enough to make very few public statements ,we hope.

I fail to see how ever being a player makes anyone any more qualified as ANYTHING .

Yes..we're much the more marvellous club.

now that might be an entirely different issue !! lol

Funny..we beat 4 and finished 9th... I dub us the Ninemons! now

We must be an even more average side

I'd say both were average over a season but we had much greater variability!

As for Koch's contribution... just a bit of public questioning of the players commitment andsecond-guessing of the coach's team selection, nothing to worry about.

Has the Baton need passed, is Port the new Richmond?

No, thats currently US... Meet the Ninemons !! Do I get any real joy in such cynical sarcasm ?  Strangely more than I do watching us fumble year in year out !!

I agree ..It's Kochie  Sabre rattling.  and we move along...   to the annual navel gazing circus we call  EOS !!

Can see the argument both ways.

My gut instinct at the time was that his comments were inappropriate.

Were the players committed? Yes

Did they play their guts out? Yes

DId they make some skill errors/miss opportunities to win the game? Yes

Were they unlucky to lose? Yes

Would the players be hurting badly? Yes

At the end of the day, they were beaten by 1 free kick. By an umpiring decision.

I guess my feeling is that people don't respond to a roast, headmaster type tirade. The days of administrators and coaches bawling out their players is long over. It's almost personally insulting for it to be said or inferred that the players weren't sufficiently committed or weren't desperate enough. Sure they threw  away opportunities to win the game but that's a different thing. If Charlie Dixon had kicked accurately they would have won. End of story.  No different if Jessie Hogan had kicked 3 Goals, 5 points, missed a goal after the siren and we lost by 5 points.

Koch was obviously angry post match but that's normal. He is also a publicist and egotist. Most of his working day, it's about him. He is a Jeff Kennett type that likes to blow his own trumpet and be in the limelight. Like Kennett, this behaviour does more harm than good.

Did the players need a lecture from their President? I suspect not.

Did the players need their coach to talk to them about their mistakes and missed opportunities ? Yes

Sorry to derail the thread but how`s the house in Key West Ernest? Hope your cats are OK!

he has obviously never played any sport in his life,  just because you're committed to a premiership doesn't mean you're gonna get one,  what a stupid thing to say every footy player that ever played the game is committed to a premiership, if that's all  it takes Nick Riewoldt  would have 10.

That or otherwise known as getting on the front foot.

I actually prefer Kochies sentiments to the wallowing self pity like mutterings of Bartlett.

I prefer somewhere in the middle

I am still not stuck on our current President, who has said SFA for the whole season...

There are ways to set up unacceptable situations. I think Koch got it wrong...

I have a problem with admin, coaches who use the terms 'they, them' when the team is losing as a way of dissociating themselves from responsibility but latch on to 'we' when the team is successful. Koch's speech is littered with they/them.

Media savvy or not, it's certainly a different take on loyalty for mine.

Took the cats and fled. Fortunately no one knows where I am.  I still have some old commy friends sinning away in Italy, Spain, Cuba and even Australia so I have a few options and drinking friends. My wives and mistresses are all dead, so I am free to do as I please and not be reminded of all my failures and failings.

I have it on good authority that at half time David Koch was so incensed with rage that he starting muttering incoherently before composing himself and heading down to the ground. He then singled out Charlie Dixon among the players leaving the ground, pushing Boak and a runner out of the way before getting in Charlie's face with "You're a c-nt, you're a c-nt, you're a c-nt". Before Charlie could comprehend what had just taken place Koch was already half way up the race to entertain his Sponsor guests.

Unfortunately Koch's well timed and succinct message did not have the desired effect and Charlie proceeded to kick two more behinds in the remaining half of footy.

IF true, Dixon must be absolutely spewing, and would find it hard to commit to anything to do with such a narcissistic bully boy again.  Those utterances presumably were made in earshot of other players at least, and possibly members if the public.  Can't do a lot for team cohesion

What us his contract status?

Koch may play quite a price for his rant.

Appears Hinkley wants to be released from his contract.  http://www.theaustralian.com.au/sport/afl/afl-finals-ken-hinkley-wants-out-of-port-adelaide/news-story/b0cfb3e1f1d9ec8afcd75b5f70122a18

It may become a matter for the AFL to resolve and Hinkley to GCS is probably the AFL's only chance of getting GCS off the road to ruin.

If it suits them they will make sure he gets there and won't let Port sue him for breach of contract.

Hinkley has been there for five seasons now for three finals series, and finished a game or two outside the 8 in the two 'failed' years ...that's not too shabby given their side, which is only average at best

You can completely understand him wanting the security of a five year deal

Dew would be the logical replacement at the Power you'd expect

....and I'd be more concerned about how Dew might make Port more competitive than anything Hinkley could accomplish with our norther basket-casers

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
