Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Step away from the exclamation-key Picket and take a deep breath. I'll walk you through it. Martin is in blistering form, and, as you say, is 'a bloke that breaks lines and provides inspiration.' Seems strange that an opposition fan wouldn't be at least a little bit worried about him then, right? But even stranger then that the fan has reported a sense of concern only after that player has come under an injury cloud in the build-up. There seems to be some strange reversal of expectations going on. The next step is to challenge your neural connections to conceptually work out an explanation for this apparent anomaly. Something like; in the past, when a star player has been under an injury cloud in the build-up to a game against Melbourne, that player has tended to come out and tear Melbourne what is colloquially referred to a 'new one'. Nick Riewoldt may repeatedly spring to mind. Then you can deduce that the poster was being sardonic in reference to Melbourne's past, perhaps as a coping mechanism. Finally, if you can determine certain patterns in a poster's history,  their 'schtick' if you will, such as multiple exclamation points and a tag-line like sheeeeit for example, you can be reasonably confident in your assessment of a post and know whether to take it seriously or not.

Right!!

Ahh, I only have a partially completed PhD ! Would you like to finish it for me??

Anyone know if there is seating for Melbourne supporters that's not in the nose bleeds?

I tried playing around on ticketek to try and upgrade to a reserved seat for the kids and myself as most of the seating is exhausted and it gave me an option to enter our membership barcodes under club members and all they could allocate me was M3. I'm pretty sure that's the Richmond area for the game. Won't be sitting there!

Sorry to appear dumb .... but what is the system behind being named or not named in the VFL side?

I am assuming that anyone named in the VFL side who played AFL last week is a candidate for being dropped.

On this basis Tyson could be dropped?

Essentially, yes. But don't look too much into it, Viney was named for Casey at one stage last year when he was coming off that hand injury and obviously was never gonna play 2's.

Yeah well the way he has been playing, he might not be too far of!

Well explained Skuit- you managed to insult Picket in an elegant snd unconfontational manner that was so delightfully expressed that Picket thought you were paying him a compliment.

"Challenge your neural connections....."

Loved it.

You must work for the Government or a body there of.

How and why you are doing a PHd has me stumped.

Do we have to call you Dr Picket if you ever finish it?

God a bad feeling he is Goodys pet.  I sure hope not though, as no coach should ever play favorites especially with such an average player coming off a shocker.

I am starting to agree with this thought - he has been very very ordinary the last two weeks at least.

All I know is that I pay over seven hundred bloody dollars for my MCC membership and I still have to pay $10 to guarantee me a seat on Level 1 this week. It's a disgrace.

In case it hasn't been said anywhere, I know a couple of people that work in the MCC and they're expecting 80,000 at Monday's game, so get your tickets now while you can.

I hope they are right A.F. I would love it if the Melbourne match had more people turn up than the "biggest Home and Away game for the year" the following day.

Might be a bit of rain about Monday evening.

I'm not so sure we'll get 80,000. Although Richmond supporters will come out in huge numbers.

Rain will help us too.

Hope it floods.

Dees.

Steve, it's a Richmond home game and a Melbourne make-up game so 70,000 + 40,000 potential punters before the public gate.  If the weather's fine (latest forecast is more promising than a few days ago) they mightn't be far from 80k.

I'm not sure it does 'steve'...

The numbers say we are playing a high possession game.

Any team that plays that game style struggles in the wet.

Hope it's dry.

My biggest fear around this game is our potential inability to contain their quick, small forward line.

My second biggest fear is our defenders trying to clear the ball with these little guys harassing and pressuring them... our delivery out of the back 50 is shaky on a good day. Hibberd will be a very handy inclusion for this reason.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
