  1. Jayden Hunt played I think one of the best quarter of his career. He was immense.

  2. Egg on my face right now. Put my hand up and openly admit I got it wrong with the Melksham selection. I've bashed him hard this year but the last few weeks he's completely changed his game to the point where he's important member. Sorry Melky, you were [censored] unreal tonight.

  3. I hate the attitude of fans who have somehow forgotten decades of mediocrity and don't enjoy wins. FFS. Huge lifter. That sort of win will give the boys some extra bounce. Jayden Hunts last couple of minutes were unreal

  6. I thought Melksham was the difference tonight. He was fantastic. He needs a lot of praise for that game. It was awe inspiring.

  7. Reckon Jayden Hunt is the only reason we won that game and it was due to a bit of dare - be nice if collectively we could employ that mindset across more than the last quarter

  8. Melk went straight to May for a hug after the song. Yeah the boys

  11. Hamish McLaughlin just openly admitted that he was barracking for us to kick a point so that it guaranteed Carlton a spot in the finals. Hey Hamish, how about you and Gil [censored] off to an island and never return.

  12. If you told me we’d win a flag then win at least 15 games the following season I would take it in a heartbeat. Couldn’t go tonight as my daughter had her 16th Birthday…double celebration for her.

  13. I can't even deal with this. 😂 Melks played the best game I've seen him play in the red and blue. A fantastic performance.

  14. Your ‘reckless’ argument in this thread is constructed on assumptions and hindsight. Injury management is galaxies from being an exact science. It may have been perfectly sensible for them to put Salem back on, if they were thinking he’d just jarred the knee, and could run it off in game time. In this way, it’s a form of injury assessment. This happens. All players carry niggles throughout the season. If I had $5 for every time I’ve advised a sportsperson - “now let’s just suck it and see” - you know the story. Rarely are players niggle free, particularly as the season runs on. Ergo, the decision to rest-play is a risk-reward scenario. You seem to be suggesting they should always honour the risk. That’s never going to happen. There are obvious advantages to the team and player to playing through imperfection. Also, you (and others) seem very confident in assessing who is injured, and it’s so often just based on form - Maxy, Salem, Jordon, it goes on. The number of times I read ‘he’s obviously carrying something, they shouldn’t have played him’ is immeasurable, and mostly a rationalisation to explain a variety of factors influencing form. This belief that the MFC are somehow defying convention by having players play through soreness and mild injury is also nonsense. All clubs do it. There wouldn’t be many players running around if they didn’t. It’s just a risk-reward policy exercised over a very imperfect, multi-factorial game and season.

  16. We must have got flogged based on all the comments with the same sentiment as this. We are up to our eyeballs in this Premiership race. Confidence and momentum are a wonderful thing. As is the fact that we have three undeniable champions in our team. My God there are some sad sacks here.

  17. Yawn. You do this all the time. How about you just stop bagging Melbourne players all the time?

  18. Against one of the biggest clubs, who were playing for a spot in finals for the first time in a decade, who threw everything at us. What a brilliant result and end.

  19. Confession time. 3 minutes to go I got up and said "we're done, we can't do it from here. We've lost all our close ones this year". Well, bugger me. That was as close to a final as you will get. Not a great spectacle, but as tough as hell. Both sides will be very sore over the next 2 days. Delighted, shocked, annoyed, Exhiirated.

  20. That is hopefully the game that will flick the switch for a Successful September. Carlscum were playing for their lives tonight. That was their most important game for 10 years, and we broke them. Attack each contest Demons Help your mates… Fear nothing.

  28. Melk and Petty take a bow. Don't look at how Geelong are playing they are going in with soft lead up games into September. Massive character tonight.

  29. I love that we won, and it's especially sweet that we've done it to the Blues haha, but we seriously... and I mean SERIOUSLY need to take an actual look at what the hell we're doing, and whether we want this bad enough. We JUST scraped past a team whose midfield was decimated. If they make it into the finals (and I hope they do, because it'll mean they beat the pies), they won't get far, but neither will we until we do something about our gameplan.

  30. Never in doubt… haha if we don’t give the flag a shake this year at least we gave this dagger to these flogs. hunt was absolutely clutch at the end there

  32. Forget Grundy. Do whatever it takes to buy a genuine key forward. Our forward line is a mess.

  33. Man, people were whinging about Ben Brown, Melksham, paying overs for Lever and May etc etc. Same old story here. Grundy is a bona fide A grader and would improve our team unquestionably. If Collingwood were prepared to pay a chunk of his contract and we got him for a second rounder, it'd be a no brainer. Just trust our FD because every high profile player we've brought in under this FD has payed us back and then some and clearly if we're targeting him, we'd have a rock solid plan around the way our forward line will function going into next year with Gawn spending more time as that key pillar.

  36. We won the free kick count, but someone needs to talk to the freaking umpiring dept about those post disposal bumps. My gut feel is once they paid the one to Spaz, it has to be paid all night, but geez the Blues milked everyone of them.

  37. Everyone plays out of their skin against us. These f'wits were playing for there lives, they haven't played like that all season. Bunch of crooked, corrupt and arrogant tossers.

  38. We've just played a game against a possible finals contender that gave their absolute all and we won. Last week we played another incredible game against another genuine finals contender and only just got done when we really should've won if it wasn't for some poor kicking. In no way are we making up the numbers.

  42. It was funny, May said after the game "the pressure came off us once we got behind at the end and we started attacking" That is our brand. We need to play four quarters of hard running attacking football. We didn't for most of the game. It was slow and predictable. Such mixed feelings. I'm really happy we won. I loved Kozzies trash talking at the end just as much as the goal. Petty is just a mountain down back. Melksham and Hunt, who woulda thunk? I'm off to the Gabba next week. We have so much work to do. Hopefully this win will give us belief to start playing daring exhilarating football again. It was an amazing and completely frustrating game. I reckon we're playing at 70 percent of our capability. A big win next week would restore my faith. Geelong are looking ominous. We need to take another step up next week.
