  1. Lol massive clean out. Where are these amazing depth players who would be helping us? Hogan went out for May in. Kent went ok at the Saints but is now injured. Tyson - couldn't get a game at North. Bugg - delisted himself from Carlton. Filipovic? Johnstone? King? McKenna? Pedersen? I agree we don't need to make massive list changes this year but the idea that our delistings last year had anything to do with our win loss this year was wrong. Our depth is poor because our depth players - Tim Smith, Keilty, JKH, Stretch, Wagner * 2, Maynard - have either copped a lot of injuries or just aren't very good. We'll keep some, move others on but it won't be a big factor.

  2. The staggering thing in all this is that he’s still employed by On The Couch, whose own hosts don’t even seem to trust him. A few weeks after the so-called falling out between Macca and Goody last year, he made similar claims about GWS - that Leon Cameron had also been banished to the bench. When pressed further about how a senior coach could be turfed from his own coaching box, and by whom, Morris had nothing, except a vague reference to the ‘powers-that-be.’ The boys on the couch were less than impressed. Even this year, when he tried to revive the so-called rift between Macca and Goody, Healy had to remind him that he needed to ring Macca and get both sides of the story - something Morris clearly hadn’t done. I’ve worked in journalism and media for 25 years and can spot a fraud at 1000 paces. This guy is at the very top of the tree when it comes to duds.

  5. jesse hogan @jesseBhogan Tom Morris is commentating the World Cup? It’s his first call up or I haven’t being paying enough attention. #mute jesse hogan @jesseBhogan Honest leech. Had a job at Melbourne football club that was private and used it and leaked private conversations to get a leg up. Not even involving me but genuine leech of a personality. Have never seen a faker figure in media.

  6. As a Brisbanite, I don't get to see many games live. What really struck me today at the game was that a major factor in Oliver and Viney's disposal issues is the gameplan itself. They are brilliant at winning the ball, but when they win it, all the other dees players (as we and every other team knows) are in at the contest, so there's no one to go to. And this results in them either disposing of the ball to another player (also in at the contest) who is already under pressure, a random kick or handball to no one (which the lions players positioned outside the contest are generally first to), or an overly ambitious kick to a Dee downfield which doesnt work out. Maybe I'm slow in working this out, but it really stuck out to me watching it live. I'm kind of relieved. Their poor disposal is less of a skill issue per se than not having any options under the gameplan. Overall, our ills are still overwhelmingly gameplan rather than personnel related. Yes, bring in some run and pressure forwards (they dont have to be stars), but I wouldnt be trading any of our best midfielders.

  7. Has Goodwin moved Petty off Hipwood yet?

  8. One of the most bizarre coaching decisions was leaving Petty on Hipwood after 3 qtr time and then one out on Cameron in the last qtr..

  9. not the reason we lost, but the inter-state bias when it comes to free kicks needs to be fixed, i don't know how but the way inter-state crowds can influence decisions and the lack of consistency applied to visiting teams is infuriating.

  10. Brisbane are a very polished settled side with a fantastic midfield. 14 of their players have played every game this year. This has allowed them to grow together, be very cohesive and have a very settled line up. We have all known that Hipwood is a gun. In contract Hore, Lockhart and Baker are first year players and Petty in his second year has 5 games to his name. In the last 2 weeks the opposition have played through Petty taking advantage of his inexperience. He is a good mark reads the play well but hasn't got the strength or poise yet and turns it over. Hipwood took him apart in the third and the start of the fourth and if you watch the vision, it was May who asked frosty to go to Hipwood. Poor form from the coaches box to not make the move in the third and idiotic to leave hime there at the start of the last. I also think the long season may be catching up with More and I like Lockhart and bake has a go. Lets not forget Smith has played 11 games and if he was the answer he would have played a lot more than that. Compounding all that our mids got smashed today. Neale, Lyons and Zork tore us to shreds and won so many centre clearances we could easily have lost by a lot more. The deficiencies are plain to see I hope we can recruit to fill them.

  11. I think Frost errors are down significantly. He contributes well, although unsteady. He is overly castigated here.

  12. Forward line tackles Weiderman: 0 Petracca: 0 Tmac: 1 Hunt: 1 Hannan: 1 Smith: 1 Total of 4 tackles (average 1 per Quarter) in our forwardline today. Absolutely pathetic forward pressure. No wonder every team just prances out of our attacking 50.

  14. Morris reminds me of Barrett and his approach - they’re tarred with the same brush, got the same style and all. On the Couch is a reasonable program right up until Morris comes on for his little rumour segment to close out the show. *cringe

  16. Anyone else notice May giving Marty Hore a bit of a spray/advice in the 3rd? We were up by about 10 points when Cameron kicks the ball long to a contest in the pocket from about 70m, Hore looked like he was manning Hipwood and they both ran to the contest together which May spoiled to the boundary. Zorko doesn’t give up the contest, picks the ball up on the line and kicks it to the top of the square where Hipwood ran on his own to mark and goal for his first. Hore just stood there ball watching while Hipwood ran off. As soon as Hipwood took the mark unopposed that is when May turned to Hore to let him know about it. Hore will be a good player for us but I liked the way May went about it, just reminding a new player that concentration levels need to be at a high level constantly.

  28. It was an impressive debut from the young Sudanese player who will no doubt quickly become a fan favourite with the Casey crowd. He started slowly but was involved in some very good pieces of play and he looks as if he could take a number of positions on the ground. He had 11 touches yesterday and will improve when he becomes more familiar with the team’s game style.

  29. I think JKH is a much better option than Hannan, ANB, Garlett and Spargo. Those players get numerous chances to play rubbish games for consecutive weeks before the penny finally drops with our selectors and they drop them. JKH can have a run of games where he contributes and then has one game where he’s quiet, next week he’s dropped. He’s got good evasive skills in close, good speed, finds space, and generally has good disposal. Given a fair go to build his confidence, I think he’d add an important element to what we miss so badly, providing outside options and speed, whilst at the same time able to do well on the inside. Being able to handle wet conditions is a good indicator as well. If the club let him go I think he’ll establish himself somewhere else.

  30. Salem is an amazing ball user and would be best used in this side as the last bloke to touch it before it goes inside 50. We just need to lower the eyes and find the target inside 50. He can do that.

  31. the site is full of people who pay their membership subscriptions every year and hope for some return on their money, Some have done this for many years some can barely afford it but the pay just the same, They are usually optimistic at the beginning of the season but bewildered at their beloved team's woeful efforts as the season progresses. i don't see them as "holier than thou know alls" I see them as betrayed supporters who are desperately seeking answers but a fed corporate bulldust by the club after every loss. i personally don't. find the clubs efforts very funny. But I grew out of The Three Stooges, punch and judy humour years ago.

  32. Bulldust. He gives poor handballs and allowed his man far too much space. Only ran one way

  33. Oliver was fantastic today. His work in close was genius. It doesn't always come off, but the problem is typically the disposals after him, not him.

  34. Game style and lack of skills/polish Chook. Today was also alot about a lack of two way effort and will to win the clearance. The Lions showed us who wanted it more. Does the game style prevent the development of skill/polish? Focussing too much on crash bash contested vs a balance of class, run, skill and finish on the outside? In addition, where is the structure/discipline/training to hold the receivers on the outside and get it to them effectively (and wide enough) to allow them some space to work into? How many shovel handballs did we witness today that went to a player a few feet away under immediate pressure and/or about to be set upon? After 14 rounds we are still seeing.... - Too many at the coal face for ground balls and an imbalance waiting / holding their structure on the outside waiting for the receive. - Too many flying for marks (regardless of where on the field) - An insane number of turnovers in general play. Skills generally shithouse. - Forwards often running away from a pressured contest mid field or a player under pressure coming off a wing etc instead of presenting on a lead. - 2 to 3 forwards still crashing packs. - Front & square options almost non-existent, bar Lockhart on a few occasions last week. - Bombs to the top of the square without assessing/looking. - Players obsessed with blindly rolling out to their preferred side and playing on without getting back quickly enough behind the mark first and assessing what options they have (or don't have). - Forwards continually not willing to take a set shot at goal and looking to pass the buck to someone else... Jeffy last week from 30 meters, Smith & Tommy today both very gettable goals. Both of those kicks did NOT hit their target. - Blind faith of Goody continuing to play a massively out of form Tommy instead of Pruess.

  37. We had the handball to petracca's feet which he fumbled, cost certain goal, harmed dropping a mark 40m he should have taken, tmac's pie drop 10m out. They missed easy goals we were too [censored] to even use the opportunity to score! The Hannan switch to no one... horrible horrible effort.

  38. High risk with only very moderate reward, due to mind blowing turnovers and skill errors. Having said that, Clarrie and Viney were being held at EVERY centre bounce. Not one free kick. Harmes tunnelled just before the break - “play on” from maggot 14. 20 seconds later the soft push in the back - thanks maggot 2 who then warned Frosty not give away 50. Gil really has got the game in good shape.

  39. Our list isn't dreadful it's just lacking a little quality around the edges. Just 1 good small forward and a hard runner on the wing would make a huge difference. Goodwin was the same coached who improved us 3 years in a row but nice story about him being another Neeld.

  44. The selection criteria (from the outside) appears unfathomable at times. JKH was selected after an extended period of recovery from his knee injury and performed credibly at Marrara v crows. To be omitted after one game in favour of Mitch Hannan for the big freeze game v pies. Who appears to have had an extended opportunity to gain match fitness whilst playing at AFL level. His performances thus far have not been particularly overwhelming. Michael Hibberd who has struggled at times to replicate a semblance of his All - Australian form post 2017, when available seems to be an 'automatic' selection. Whereas Josh Wagner (who has a chorus of detractors on this forum) is the first dropped but continues according to pundit(s) yesterday at Casey "to give 100%". Admire his attitude and commitment. Beyond the "gruppe denk", fair and objective observation, whilst noting his on-field performance parameters, suggest his contributions are overdue for some revision and perhaps grudging respect. On team selection the match committee would do well to defer to "reputation never has much to do with reality".

  47. Can’t wait for Morris to respond through his tv gigs today... “The Freamantle Football Club are concerned for the welfare of fallen star Jesse Hogan this morning after he was clearly under the influence last night and posting horrible horrible comments about leeches. It’s believed Hogan was on a bender with Cousins and Bennell at the time...” I would like to see players and coaches who have fake stories about them by “journos” like this take a stand against them.
