  1. I don't think there is any benefit in taking pot shots at a young bloke who has just been cut from a second club and effectively closing the door on his career & dreams. He was a draft pick that just didn't work out for us unfortunately, poor management early could very well have lead to his demise. Seemed like an honest hard worker just not up to it at AFL level unfortunately.

  2. You cant teach this sort of timing, decision making, skill and instinct. Every club will regret passing on this kid... should have been a top 10 pick imho.

  3. IMVHO one shouldn’t call anyone who was drafted and having the courage to even go on to an AFL field a spud. He had performed at senior SANFL level in finals. Sure he didn’t turn out like we had hoped, but he got further than (almost) anyone who posts here. And, by the way, Neeld wasn’t the list manager, for all his many faults, so it was not he who drafted him.

  4. There is a decent amount of human error stupidity in this. 3 of Week 1 finals tickets are sold thru Ticketek: Rich/Haw have over 180,000 paid up members. Demons/Cats have total of about 100,000+. Sydney/GWS have total of about 60,000. Blind Freddy could see the system would crash if about 340,000 members log on at 9.00am - many logged-in on multiple devices compounding the system problems. So totally stupid of the AFL/Ticketek to not consider the #of members and demands on the system, once the participating teams were known. Don't need a crystal ball to predict the meltdown. Ticketek is selling tickets for 3 of the 4 games. So, is it too hard to stagger sales to start on 3 consecutive days!!! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! to start all at the same time!

  9. It’s super special that he’s doing all this in the famous number 11 as well. When I see him wearing it, I always think of Jimmy presenting Max with his jumper and this photo, I think after Jimmy’s passing.

  10. http://m.afl.com.au/news/2018-08-28/huge-demand-sees-ticketek-call-halt-to-sales Saying there will be staggered ticket sales. Staggeringly stupid not to have done it in the first place.

  14. Good luck to everyone else on tickets but this 10+ years consecutive member is pretty much out. My partner took the day off work to get 2 seats with no luck. I raced home at lunch and missed an hours work. We can’t afford to do it all again tomorrow, so will miss out. It never ceases to amaze me how amateur the AFL is. We’ve all been waiting 12 years for this and just get spat on. So much money and time spent supporting a club only to go through this rubbish. I do understand not everyone can go to a finals game, but I didn’t even get a chance. So a big F..U.. to the AFL. Sell the tickets to those who have stuck around and bleed for the clubs you dirty money hungry pricks.

  15. Scalable on demand web servers is a solved problem. This is just the rankest incompetence from Ticketek. It isn't even like thousands of people all wanting to buy tickets at once is an outlier for them, this is core business. The level of incompetence to not be able to manage this is really quite frightening. These people probably have problems doing up their shoe laces

  16. So, who did the Doggies, Saints, Port, Freo and Swans beat on the weekend. Those players selected must have made the difference.... Kane's taking the P... now.

  19. toumpas' year as a premiership player in 2011 with woodville-west torrents in the sanfl as a 16 year old in his fifth game at senior level was sensationally exciting toumpas in 2011: he was lean, quick, and a really neat kick who was capable of being a 75 metre player - he'd run 25 with a couple of bounces and roost it 50 his year as a south australian skipper in 2012 was absolutely sensational; he was being talked about as a likely top two pick and compared to nathan buckley aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand then he had a double hip operation between the end of the championships and the draft period and he was never the same again - he lacked power in his legs both from a running and a kicking perspective he has never had any trouble getting a heap of the pill at both sanfl and vfl level...unfortunately, he's proved to be far from afl-level...compare above at 16 to his farewell from port video: his body shape has never developed and he now looks undersized when compared to his contemporaries unfortunately he would appear to be another in a long line of players who are good enough for a lower level but not the top echelon

  22. Hogan is better than Lynch. Only way Hogan leaves is if he asks to leave. I don't know why we don't sit on what we got and make a move for J.Kelly at the end of next season.

  23. In round 1 they had 24 entries for 20 shots on goal in the first half. They scored 80pts. The second time we played them they scored 8 goals to 3/4 time and 8 goals in the last to win. The past two weeks we have played much better offensively by hit up passes (19 fwd half marks against WC) and much better defensively like we have the past two weeks. We play like the past two weeks and we win.

  27. Who would give us a better overall option than a proven 23 year old marquee key forward? The idea of trading him for something 'better' is moot, since that would have to be so enormous that it would croke another footy club to the point that there would be no point doing the deal. Plus, even if we trade him for 5, Cerra and another first round pick, we're trying to win premierships in the next few years. This is going to be Hogan's prime and the draft picks will still be developing. People give the goals stats, but Hogan's best game for the season was probably in a loss against Richmond. Hogan plays a different style to TMac, who is lower possession and higher goal kicking. Hogan plays much better than Tom when further from goal and is a far better goal creator. As a key forward, Hogan averaged over 18 disposals and 2.4 goals a game and Tom 15.5 dpg and 2.8 goals. We have a proper competitive advantage, and people want to trade that away?

  31. He was very one-paced, and used to wear Fluro boots which only served to highlight how slow his legs were moving Bad recruiting decision dor Melbourne, probably worse for Port

  33. Incredible that there is no prominent notice on the homepage of http://www.afl.com.au/ - there's nothing in the carousel at the top, there's only a text link to a story and that's buried 5 down the list. But there still IS a link to "The Finals - Get Tickets" underneath the Match Centre widget (That widget is a disgrace btw - does not update properly when matches are in progress)

  35. This is where season ending injuries to important blokes like Lever really have a silver lining. If our backline remained healthy and firing on all cylinders, I doubt Frost ever gets back in our best 22 and playing the sort of footy that has seem him become one of the most improved players of 2018 in the entire league. He has been an absolute revelation with his closing speed, spoiling, and his run off half back we can now confidently say Frost is the gorilla backman with x factor we were desperately hoping he'd become.

  36. Mate, we don't want Jesse traded. We are discussing the scenarios in the event that the might be traded. You know... he may one day request a trade. Or perhaps another club makes the mother of all trade offers, unlikely as it is. If you bothered to read the last couple of pages rather than just the thread title before you post you would see some pretty good discussion on this. Of course everyone wants to retain Jesse and see him reach his full potential. That should go without saying. And FYI, Hogan has not kicked 50 in a season.

  38. If nothing else playing well without Hogan will be good for Hogan. He is not the messiah and may have to rethink his attitude, perhaps he may even choose to chase and tackle and perhaps even try a second effort. I think he will stay but trading him would not be the end of the world.

  39. Of course I wouldn't expect you to comprehend. You probably do the easy crosswords too. We actually play more fluent football without him I'd argue. Just like you the whole thing became too Hogan- centric. Have you read Red Fox ? If not do so...it's about a team orientated bloke that emphasised team play. The abilities of individuals are to be welcomed...but if you suffer the folly of allowing that to dictate the team suffers He knew a thing or two. Again WB...how are we travelling without Hogan ? Dare to answer ?

  40. One of the most ridiculous comments yet. Have you not been paying attention . Many of those 47 were in the bullying games. He kicks very few under pressure against harder opposition. So the value isn't quite what it seems. Of course he's replaceable. We've had to cover him often. We're covering him now. We're traveling ok are we not ? Tmac has kicked more from less games. I'd challenge the veracity of the idea one person replaces another in pure goal kicking. It can be argued a better performing team is less reliant on individual return and more upon what teamwork provides. But still.. even if say Weed stood up for 1 and half goals per game.. that's 30 odd. The likes of Vanders would be good for similar.. there's 60. I fully accept it's all numbers and hypotheticals but then so is much of the hype about Hogan.

  41. Unless Hogan asks to go, he won’t be traded. You can blow on about professional club and every player has a price and improve the list and blah blah blah, but at the end if the day, no club willingly parts with a player of his calibre.
