Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Footage on the AFL app if you missed it.

Gut and heart says he has to go. We've got a duty of care to protect the head and he did get him.

Ironically it was close to the Maynard rule, jumping to smother and then caught him high.

There are actually some technical aspects to it:

Will they charge him under the specific rule for smother that they brought in? Or regular old high bump? Or rough conduct (they then don't need to prove it's a bump).

First look he almost pokes the elbow out but then tucks it in. Does that make it worse? Or is it actually evidence of him trying to tuck in to avoid elbow to the head.

Also, one mitigating factor for Kosi is that he had open jazz hands not clenched fists when the contact happened. The tribunal has used clenched fists and tense muscles as a proxy for bracing and bumping, as opposed to open hands, which they claim demonstrates a you didn't expect the contact and tried to show a duty of care to the played in an accidental situation. Bizarre but they've written that multiple times in their official adjudications.

One to watch.

No changes, just noting that the open hands I think is demonstrating "body position that minimises the force of the contact"

  • Demonland changed the title to Kozzy bump on Soligo

I think Kozzie's direction might save him from 2 weeks, I'd take one on the basic premise of protecting the head. In real time looks innocent and actually much more innocent that the Bailey Smith incident, slow mow looks like he lined him up. But both running in same direction and looks like he was trying to squeeze past Soligo. He also seemed apologetic which is unlike him.

Must admit will Kill me being first team to have a suspension from the 'Dog' rule.

Careless/low/high = fine apparently but medium impact would be 1 week.

Also here is the wording of the new smoother rule. I truly believe they could just have charged Maynard under existing rough conduct rules.

Hoping for a week or 2 downgraded to a fine. If Sicily got off, there is a glimmer of hope

I don't reckon the impact was hard enough personally to get suspended, Soligo played on after it.

No momentum going through contact.

Fight to get it downgraded to a fine.

100% they could have.

Kozzie should be fined, but we all know he’s going to get a week. It’s easier for the AFL to justify a suspension as opposed to a fine.

One day this boy will miss a Grand Final.  He should only get a week as impact is low. But really just unnecessary.

It’ll be graded as Carless under the new rules.
If it’s graded as Carless, high contact, low impact it’s a fine.
If it’s considered medium impact it’ll be 1 week max

If graded medium we will go the tribunal and argue to downgrade it to low since there was no impact.

Kozzy is getting a reputation and a track record that is not good. Times have changed since Uncle Byron played. I suspect his on field behaviour is “in the blood” but his indiscretions are undisciplined and unnecessary. One day it may well cost the team and the Club dearly.

Max gets hit in the head twice as hard as this multiple times EVERY game and it never gets reported,

This incident, whilst duly making contact to the head with the shoulder was nonetheless light. Soligo was not concussed. Soligo played on immediately. Come on.

Fine. $3750 downgraded to $2500 with an early guilty plea.

This would have been a been a useful grading for a number of players over the years, including Clarry, Jurrah and Hogan. As to Pickett's stray elbow, nothing in it. But two of my most frustrating things in life are the sudden emergence of the word 'bias' as an adjective/adverb and MFC players being used as test cases. Viney, Trengove, ANB, and JVR just to name a few in recent years.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
