  1. Lewis Young??? Or last year????
  2. Looks like careless conduct to me, with low impact but was high. Should equal a fine. No doubt won't cos Koz.
  3. My reading of that AFL article is simply that McAdam won't be joining main training. Yes, the article does say he "will complete a training block away from the main group" but the article also later says "The South Australian has spent most of the pre-season training away from the main group." Is it any different from the usual rehab? Most likely he will be in the gym/pool/physio until the nerve issue has settled and he can start running again.
  4. LH can probably confirm, but I think if we want to guarantee that we can get Brown in (ie. that we can match a bid during the draft) then we will have to delist and promise to rookie two players - Melksham and maybe Schache. That would give us 3 spots available for the draft (6, 11 and Brown).
  5. AFL Draft Order page says it was our natural F2. We've kept the F2 linked to Sydney.
  6. Acquiring assets to facilitate a fair trade isn't really Peter Bell's MO, but the two big WA names that come to mind are Logan McDonald and Tim English.
  7. WC: ..... Darling? Would you be tempted by 10, Adelaide F1 and McAdam for Petty. Then 6, 10, 11 to WC for Reid and Darling. Deathride 2.0
  8. Wouldn't be surprised if there is a tail end to the 11 for 14 trade where the Dees receive a favourable pick swap later in the trade period for one of GC's multiple 2nd rounders.
  9. From afl.com: end of round two compensation pick - currently pick No.39
  10. I agree that the North compensation pick will affect the value of our picks. Our current pick 5 becomes Pick 6 based on the latest reporting. But Academy and Father/Son picks don't affect our value. With Pick 6 we have the 6th free choice of 'open' (non-aligned) players. If Walters and Read and Rogers all get jammed in before us, it doesn't matter - we still have the 6th free choice of a known pool of players.
  11. If the Bulldogs do beat us to Pick 4 as mooted, I think we should then target GC's newly acquired Pick 10 with our second round and later picks + most likely a future pick would be required. Would be awesome to walk into the draft with picks 5, 10, 13 + Kynan Brown.
  12. If Brodie wants to go, we should ask him to commit to 2024 with us and if he still wants to leave then we will facilitate a trade. In terms of 2023, it is too late/risky to start trialling forward setups that include Grundy for significant periods of the game, but after a full pre-season the combination could be workable. I imagine his first preseason was predominantly focused on working with the midfielders, rather than as a part of the forward line (and the Essendon game showed the Grundy-backline connection was wanting).
  13. I feel for their young supporters, but the Hawks are about to deliver a masterclass in tanking this year.
  14. Yes. The NSW and QLD clubs in particular would love it.
  15. I was stuck at home today, so I tried to find a way for Melbourne to get value for Jackson (if he doesn't re-sign with us). I tried to channel our list managers focus on overall outcomes and came up with this 6-club megadeal which actually kinda makes sense. Things we know or are strongly rumoured about this draft are: 1. Brisbane need points for Ashcroft & Jaspa Fletcher. 2. Western Bulldogs and Lobb are interested in each other. 3. Rankine wants to go back to SA. Preconditions for this megadeal to work: 1. West Coast need to be willing to split their #2 pick (makes sense to bring in a crop of WA youngsters) 2. Gold Coast need to be willing to trade up from #5 (acquired via Rankine) and #7 to #2 (this could be the opportunity cost required to have a shot at Cadman) Anyway, in the end the Dees would end up with Pick 5, Pick 20, Freo's 2023 1st round, Gold Coasts 2023 2nd round and Meek or Treacy. We would be giving up Jackson and our 2023 1st round (hopefully #18). The full ins and outs are below. Is it a Win-Win-Win-Win-Win-Win deal?
