Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

6, 5 and 4 Max the Magnificent - a superlative all-round display.

3 Petracca - but where was he in the first half?

2 Oliver - worked hard but not always effectively.

1 Lever - some good intercepts.

0 - the entire forward line.

6 Gawn - Beaten in the first few plays by Cox but once Brayshaw went down just lifted and showed just amazing leadership.

5 Sparrow - with Trac and Viney quiet in the first half, Sparrow was just so hard at it and  showed what a bull he is. This game showed that he is now an elite midfielder. He's not as clean as others, but he's just so tough.

4 May - just a general down back and held firm all night with one or two exceptions.

3 Petracca - quiet first half but lifted and was just amazing in the final term - albeit with a couple of generous frees.

2 McVee - Just so smooth and our only defender with the pace to go on Hill after his early onslaught. Such was the quality of his work, it makes you wonder how come Salem is getting a game.

1 Oliver - prolific so he gets a vote, but there was a lot of 2017 Olly back in his game. he didn't seemed to sense when to go forward and when not to and I am still trying to remember when he hit a forward on the lead. As for his shot on goal it just lacked confidence from the outset with a couple of stutter steps. He just has to go to bed and realise  that when he's positive he's the best player in the game and he's allowed to make mistakes if he's trying to make the matchwinning pass.

6. Gawn - easily the best player on the ground.  I still believe he'll lead this team to the 2023 flag.

5. Sparrow - this guy is a true warrior.  His second half was excellent and he stepped up in Brayshaw's absence

4. May - controlled the back half along with...

3. Bowey - a really good rebound game.

2. Petracca - a frustrating game I thought.  Lacked intensity early but came rattling home.

1. Oliver - just on weight of numbers.  I'm not sure why he has reintroduced the 2017 circle work back into his game. Needs to drive hard forward.

6. Gawn

The distance between Earth and Mars to the next player

5. Oliver (but please don't kick a 55 metre drop punt to the same place EVERY time you kick inside F50)

4. Petracca (I rated him a bit lower due to ineffective 1st half)

3. Bowey

2. May

1. Sparrow

I do not understand people voting for Kozzie. He was appalling for much of the night with little intensity, looking disinterested, or more interesting in tackling and bumping after the event, rather than getting the ball. He is a real worry in finals for some reason.

Why does Lever get votes?

He butchered it in the first quarter.

Never tackled and managed only 3 narky with 11 touches. Got in Mays way a couple of times too.

Also Sparrow was horrible the first half.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
