Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Bailey Smith's ACL has just opened the door for Harmes at the Bulldogs while also reducing the chances that the trade could come back to bite us.

I'm still kind of hoping things work out well for Harmes individually. Especially if he has a bunch of performance triggers in his contract to soak up some salary cap space so that the Dogs can't afford to keep Tim English!

Not sure that Harmes plays that line breaking role that Smith plays.

He had a personal issue which meant he didn't train for a period at the start of the season. He didn't lose his spot to anyone in particular.

He then had a minor injury in Rounds 19-23 and couldn't get back into the team for finals.

He was dropped after the Brisbane game in round 2. Came back in for 2 games here and 2 games there before once again being dropped for Kings BDAY. I don't know who his replacement was.

In rounds 20 and 21 he was brought back into the side as a last ditch attempt to be a part of our midfield rotation.

Unfortunately for Harmes he was so devoid of confidence that he missed regulation set shots against Richmond that the old James Harmes would kick in his sleep. Then the following week in Hobart he couldn't even execute a 20 metre pass to an open and spare teammate next to the boundary line as his errant ball rolled out of play.

I suspect Goodwin and Co lost trust in him by then and put a line through him before finals.

Highly doubt so.

Harmes has a some making up to do as he turned up in poor shape day 1 of the Dogs pre season which Bevo and the coaching staff were simply not happy about.

He'll certainly play games, but it certainly won't be every week in the AFL.

Ahhh ... Harmesy.
The lifelong Demons supporter who managed to pull on a Melbourne jumper and win us a drought breaking flag.
He'll be forever smiling at me with his premiership medal from my shed wall.
Good luck in all future endeavours to a forking legend.

IMO his disposal fell apart.

His turnovers made him unplayable.

A very good Demon for a long time and wish him well at his new club.

That is surprising if true, as most players starting again at a new club, usually put in the effort to arrive in good condition, to impress their club and give themselves the best chance of success.

Yes and no.

Steven May, by his own admission and the club, turned up in poor condition at the Dees which obviously played a huge part in his 2019 being injury riddled.

No coincidence that since then, his preparation has resulted him in a couple of All Australians and rated as one of the best full backs of the game.

Was a standout according to reports in the Dogs match sim up at Maroochydore. Kicked 4 goals.

Pretty good for someone who supposedly turned up to the first training session “in poor condition.”

I trust Bevo and the coaching staff are happy.

I love the bloke. I hope he finishes top 10 in their B & F.

But I do also hope he hits Fritsch on the chest again when we play them. 😁

Let's wait and see how he goes in the season proper, but it would be very bitter sweat to see him go well for the dogs.

I wouldn't begrudge Hamesy at all really in the circumstances, but would really rather him still in the red and blue and kicking the goals for us.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
