Oh I've enjoyed it very much. I'm just tired of Freo.

Bring on a new team as you said, Essendon will do. We can make fun of Dodoro every week!

Yes please. Would love to have Dodoro drive some kind of obscene 'hard bargain' using their future first pick, based on the hubris that Essendon will climb the ladder in 2024, only to watch them bottom out completely and hand us a top-4 pick.

The only trouble is, I'm not sure there's much on Essendon's list we would be making a priority play for. So, all I can think of is the world's most arrogant pick-swap where Essendon think they've sold us pick 9 for a fortune and we get a specific player we've targeted.

A second pick inside the top-10 looks like a particularly good place to be in this draft.

Anyway, in 2024 I'll be looking forward to Fremantle pushing back into finals again. I think they've got the cattle, a great group of young players with good leaders amongst them.

Jackson will be worth the price they paid for him because in that team he'll be a crucial piece of the puzzle and a proverbial marquee player. For us, there's just not the salary cap space to keep someone who gives such a spectacle when on song!

I don't follow junior footy Supreme D so can you tell me how good/promising the tall kid , Ollie Murphy, is?

My apologies "Bitter but optimistic" but I only know what has been written online about Ollie Murphy.

I found these 2 quotes.

Quote 1: From Cal Twomey on the AFL website.

"A leading key defender in the group who can shut down opponents as well as be an intercept and contested marker. He has had some moments in attack and the ruck at different levels this year but has been best suited to a defensive post, where he's among the top group of his kind in the 2023 class."

Quote 2: From Justin Chellappah on the ESPN website.

"Murphy's competitiveness and reading of the ball has been a revelation after spending time forward and on a wing in previous seasons. The East Brighton Vampire is composed and has neat skills to go with defensive intent, and he joins a long list of elite footballers to claim Vic Metro MVP honours. A good showing at the draft combine could see Murphy rocket into top-10 calculations.

Plays like: Sam Taylor"

Anyway, I hope that helps?

Thanks for that Supreme D.

A decent tall - he may well come into our considerations!

North would be absolute fools to beat the GC and throw away the most bonus pick ONE a club will ever receive.

Therefore assuming Freo beat Hawks, I think GC would have to win by 30 plus more points than Freo to bump Freo down to 15th.

And who's to say Hawthorn can't beat Freo? They were ultra competitive against us for 3 quarters and might welcome back Newcombe.

Going to be an interesting Saturday arvo for the death ride.

He's a very good tall and very much has a competitive streak. Excels at taking the ball at the highest point and goes for his intercept marks. Has a lovely left foot and can kick it a mile. Stands probably close to 200cm and probably as skinny as Jefferson so will take some time to build his body.

3) Nick Watson
Eastern Ranges/Vic Metro
FWD, 170cm, 66kg

Surely at that height we can just sneak him into the clubs van on draft night and no one will notice?

A reverse Kevin McCallister/Home Alone situation.

With the Demons getting either draft pick 4 or 5 (thanks Freo!) I would be happy to recruit one of the nine following talented young players in this year's 2023 AFL National Draft.

1) Nate Caddy
Northern Knights/Vic Metro
FWD/MID, 192cm, 91kg

2) Zane Duursma
Gippsland Power/Vic Country
FWD/MID, 189cm, 79kg

3) Nick Watson
Eastern Ranges/Vic Metro
FWD, 170cm, 66kg

4) Connor O'Sullivan
Murray Bushrangers/Vic Country
DEF/FWD, 198cm, 92kg

5) Darcy Wilson
Murray Bushrangers/Vic Country
MID, 185cm, 73kg

6) Ollie Murphy
Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro
DEF, 200cm, 85kg

7) George Stevens
GWV Rebels/Vic Country
MID/DEF, 189cm, 84kg

8) Colby McKercher
Tasmania Devils/Allies
MID, 181cm, 73kg

9) Ryley Sanders
Sandringham Dragons/Allies (originally from Tasmania)
MID, 186cm, 85kg

This is is no particular order though as I have faith in Jason Taylor and the MFC recruiting team. 🙏

reckon it might be a good idea to avoid the Tassie kids. they’ll be 21 by the time the Tassie team joins and they’ll be throwing the kitchen sink at them

I reckon they’ll be tapping up a gun kid like Nick Daicos too

The unexpected nose dive by the dogs might move them into pole position for the suns pick. I expect them to get beat by the Cats this weekend and probably end up with pick 8 and Brisbanes first round pick. They have a father/son around pick 10.

Swans another with pick 12 and 22.

It all comes down to points. Dogs still need points for their father son at approx pick 10 as you say so they can't sell the farm to get ahead of that pick.

The bonus for us is we have our current picks, plus maybe more picks to come in for Grundy and any others that might be on the way out.

We surely have to have the best chance to get the Suns pick.

We're in a very good spot but a lot can change over the the trade period with player movement and compensation picks. Wouldn't be surprised to see Gold Coast hold their first pick until draft night to full assess what's available to them and auction to the highest bidder then.

Maybe but not getting my hopes up.

Freo have actually been pretty decent over the last 4 weeks. Beat Geelong in Geelong prior to them chucking the towel in, two very competitive performances against Brisbane and Port and a walloping of West Coast.

Which ever side can be knackered going one more week will get the job done. The final round is always hard to tip when two non finalists play each other.

Pick 1 figuratively being off the table, and the likelihood of staying around pick 4 brings O’Sullivan into the picture for mine. Particularly if we get the Suns pick as has been mooted.

I see a lot more in him than Caddy, Sanders, Croft, etc.

Hawks have beaten more top sides than Freo. I reckon they’ll win.

Have only seen a little bit of video but he does seem like a very good KP prospect.

On 8/22/2023 at 12:20 PM, whatwhat say what said:

it wouldn't be surprise me at all if we have a different team's first round pick in 2024

we love to wheel and deal

may the 💀🏇 ride continue on!

We might be able to pry a future first from Port or Sydney for Grundy perhaps? Maybe give a third rounder back as part of the deal?

Freo flopping has provided such unexpected joy this year. All i know is i want to death ride again.

Thanks Freo!!  Have enjoyed this death ride more than I should have.  Bell (end) has now paid massive overs for Jacko.  He will serve them well, but he has now served us well - a flag player in 2021, and #4 or 5 now, on top of the other picks.  Seems like a deal we have done very well out of!

GO Dees, and although I disgust myself by saying it - Go….hawks??

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
