Very good analysis but you were hard on Brayshaw. His defensive efforts were brilliant and I thought his disposal was effective for the most part.

To say Gus Brayshaw didn’t play that well is unbelievable, you have no idea

Tyson? ....oops, sorry.

Not to be a scold, but I think that joke played itself out a long time ago (and I was one of the original urine takers who gave joeboy stick over it).
It has been 4 years since Tyson left after all and joeboy is pretty generous in taking the time to come up with these analyses every week. 🙂

Why not frame Joel Smith's game in a positive light. Seemingly waiting for the bloke to fail is pretty poor.

Agree Joel did really well last night I've said this before but those who don't rate him need to remember he has struggled to stay on the park consistently and build his confidence and understanding of the game at the top level

If he stays fit he has a good chance to continue his improvement and become a very valuable player for us

Bowey - fantastic 9 touches

We're used to small forwards having low disposals and playing well, see Pickett in the grand final, or even last night.

But I don't think many half back flankers play as well as Bowey did with just 9 touches last night. I thought his defensive positioning and contests were really strong.

Along with Hunt, Smith, Tomlinson I thought he allowed McDonald and particularly Brayshaw to get in intercepting positions to provide what we usually get from Lever.

I was shocked to see he had only 9 touches.

Also put his body on the line in the last Quarter, it hurt, and he didn’t flinch until the ball was moved on.

Seemed to be playing half-forward for much of the night. Whether that was to change their on-ball mix (a polite way of saying whether he'd been demoted from that role following the pasting they received in the GF) or he had a particular role, such as tagging one of our defenders, I couldn't tell.

Pickett - off the boil (great goal though)

Sparrow - couldnt find ball (hope he hasnt relaxed with re - signing)

Gawn - not umpires friend

Oliver - not umpires friend

Oliver had what 7 or 8 free kicks paid against him for iffy infringements and yet when he was infringed against...... Play on. CLUB might need to make representations to AFL if this continues

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
