Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Guthrie doesn't quite agree:  "They are pretty strong comments. I'm surprised Isaac does feel that way. In the end it was a quarter of footy that cost us," Guthrie said.  "Personally for me reflecting on the game, those kind of comments, I don't know if I necessarily agree with.  "They're quality players and they're going to give us a tough night.

If we’d lost most people would’ve said it was a 5-10min period that cost us. The whole other time the game was largely on our terms.

But hey if they want to believe that and go in with that attitude fine with me.

Stop being a wally.

If he has mail great - I am happy he's posted it.

Thats why we have these forums. If he's trolling he'll be found out.

As it turns out he's on the money. Very happy he didnt name the player, Its finals week and its not his position to do that,

If it's not his position to name the player, why is it his position to name the line affected or say anything?   I don't see much difference.  Since it's finals week I reckon the less and later we give any info to the opponent the better.

If it's going to be public within a very short time anyway, then sure, spread despair on the forum if you like. But be sure you are giving nothing away.

He has gallantly agreed he won't do it again.   No wally there either.

Whenever you have mail, you need to be cautious of certain factors like the players extended family not being told by the player themself.

Also whether the club want the opposition to know as yet.

Its one of the defenders who is out and we will leave it at that.

Good info, well explained

Thanks & kudos

If someone not connected to the club or players hears whispers then it’s OK to post this kind of escaped intelligence  but if someone has access to privileged information because of some relationship to the club or players then best to shut up and avoid hinting. It’s like a breach of trust.

The player in question wasn't named

What's the issue?

I am not saying that he will be playing. I am analysing why he is training with our top squad. This is something that I would like to know, particularly at the training level, to attempt to understand what he is bringing to our preparation (so far, twice in the past week). Alternatively, it may be a decoy to unwelcome observers from Geelong FC or some other purpose, and why? As i stated, inquisitive I do remain whilst also speculative and reasoned in a circumstance where someone on DL might have a more accurate knowledge than my humble reasonings.

Do you speak like this in person?

Watching the replay T Mac did very little and he must be under consideration. Logically the replacement is Melksham or for those who are contrarian thinkers perhaps Weid or Mitch Brown (if fit).

Cannot forget that Goodwin dropped Fritsch for our last PF after a win.

Regardless of your views on TMac's form, he's not getting dropped for M Brown or Weideman.

Neither of them have had VFL matches to press a case to replace a player for poor form. Even if you consider that playing TMac is a risk due to perceived poor form, it's a significantly bigger risk to swap him out for a prelim for someone who has either played one game, and that was back in Round 5, or a player who has played 5 games, the last of which was three months ago in Round 13.

If we want the tall, TMac has the spot. If we want a mid, Melksham had the spot in Rounds 21 and 22 and could get that spot back.

Yes, Goodwin dropped Fritsch for Smith in 2018. That was, in my view, a bad call and I doubt he'll be repeating it again with anything as left-field as that.

It is so imperative we beat the Cats on Friday just to peg this man down a notch. He’s complained all year, made ridiculous excuses for Geelong’s performances at every turn, and made disrespectful comments such as his team didn’t care about winning because there was no home final on offer after they lost to us.

Now he’s come out and bagged Larkins after scoffing at Stewart‘s extremely unlikely return from a serious lisfranc injury which at times has forced players into early retirement. Please for the good of the game, Dees - put this man back in his box.

Silly of Scott to get so wound up about someone's opinion - just ignore it or take a 'straight bat' approach.

The pressure is getting to him.

Cameron is a supreme runner and is not a contest orientated forward - that is Hawkins's job. He will look to work into the wings and flanks and out work his opponent. Not saying Hibbered cannot play the role, but we need somebody  outside D50 to take the matchup because i dont think Hibberd can stay with him all day (if that is the matchup of course).

I actually think Riv could possibly do this role. He is a great spoiler (long arms?). The danger is that Cameron drags him back to the goalsquare and is too strong in the body, but maybe if that happens he can hand over to Petty. They can't play all of Eva, Hawkings and Cameron in the goal square unless the centre breaks are like they were for 15 minutes in round 23.

Scott's 360 interview was interesting.

When asked about how he felt about the bye week being before the GF if they were to get in he responded by saying it would be great as Tom Stewart might have more of a chance to be fit for the game.

There's a number of things to take from this for me.

- Could simply be tactics getting in nice and early. If they were to make it through teams would have to consider Stewart playing and how they matchup/game plan against their most important player... As ridiculous as that sounds.

- Main and positive thing for us is that this is nearer the front of Scott's thinking when considering anything currently. Solidifies just how much they miss him as a player and how we must exploit this loss of their key weapon down back.

I have probably missed something, but why are people so sure of the Geelong line-up already?

The above comment might have been meant as a throw away line  but...

The pressure is huge on Scott and to a lesser degree some biggish names  - Gary Rohan I'm looking at you.

A geelong loss is not worth thinking about for them, the ramifications and headlines will be screaming about cats, Thompson handed him a Flag team etc., wasted year again.....

Its all true of course.

He inherited a great team that has been underachieivng all decade, if flags are the objective as they say.

But hats off if they do win - it will be against all the odds .

I totally understand. It must be the same how the old South Melbourne supporters felt thinking the swans would never win another premiership.

Hopefully for your uncle (and all of us) Maxy does get to lift the cup on the 25th.

I just have the feeling that this is a one in a lifetime chance. If we don’t take it, it could be another lifetime again. We may never get this chance again and we’re close. So close. I have never had this feeling as a Melbourne supporter before and I’m no spring chicken.

More food for thought, Max Gawn is 3 years younger than Jones. How long has he got left? Time will catch up

Scott’s hubris.

He has already lauded the 5 touch Esava and has lapped up the Genius With Staying Power effluent the footy media has showered him with since they went with Hawkins/Cameron/Rohan/Ratagolea.

So maybe he is just bluffing and all this speculation as to how to handle 4 talls may be pointless, however entertaining for D'landers.  Presumably our match committee is considering all possibilities.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
