Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I don’t think I’ve seen this asked yet in the thread, but if you had the choice of Cats, Dogs or Power to play in the prelim - who would you choose?

I’d probably take the Cats (just). Dogs have an amazing midfield and I think Bont will play and they did beat us late in the season. Although their ruck situation is horrible, the dogs set up to lose hitouts and ended up winning the clearances easily.. Power have a heap of dangerous small forwards who could trouble us and their defence is in terrific form.

I know a lot of posters are worried about Geelong, but in all honesty, I think we’ve got the softest kill if you’re comparing to the other two alternatives.

Would agree for most posters.

But Dannyz has impeccable mail.

No knock on him having impeccable mail, just the whole I know there is an injury, but not telling who it is. It's not positive to the psych of the supporters particularly right now

This is true.

maybe just give us the initials Dannyz? - we won’t tell a sole.

If initials is pushing our luck, how about position on ground?

Intimidate or crash how? This isn’t the 80 ‘s where the biff behind the play was rife. I am sure our key players are big and strong enough to endure the rigours of modern AFL football, especially anything thrown at them by Geelong, Port or the Bulldogs.

Gee Bobby maybe you don't remember Hawkins taking off half of Mays face.

The number of players ripping Claytons head off and then the full body contact that had him on his haunches.

Scragging , body punches, blocking, channeling.tunneling. A moving blocker connecting a stationary target or the other way round,. Heavy, heavy contact.

All legitimate and sanctioned by the umpires for one team and ignored for the other. Confirm then grows and before you know it they are then appealing for minor indescretions  . Nerves take over and a side of beginners are beaten

I don't think that last sentace will happen to us as we made of sterner stuff, have suffered the lack of support from umpires all season, oh, and last game we broke the cats, they limped into the preliminary beating a GWS that was bedevilled with its own trauma.

I can reveal there is an injury to a player in the 22 and therefore there will be a forced change. It isn't a key player and won't change the balance greatly.

if you can't name the player, can you say if Jonesy is a chance to replace said player?  I assuming a Jordon/Sparrow type

Power are definitely the least of the three I would prefer. I would actually take the Doggies before the Cats. They are still out of form, missing their key KPF , SF and Ruck and have an injured #1 player. The power will maul them this week.

Whenever you have mail, you need to be cautious of certain factors like the players extended family not being told by the player themself.

Also whether the club want the opposition to know as yet.

Its one of the defenders who is out and we will leave it at that.

So now you have only 6 extended family members in a tizz. Why say anything at all?

I remember an accidental contact that broke Mays eye socket. With the amount of scrutiny that is on any physical contact these days, it would be foolhardy for anyone to go outside the rules in a prelim and potentially cost themselves a grand final berth. As I said, this ain’t the 80’s.

Have a feeling Jack Viney is going to destroy players this week.

I have been harsh on him this year, but I think he's going to come out and absolutely crunch some of their blokes.

I can name 2 Cats I would be delighted to see receive a legal, bone crunching bump from him, that destroys their game. One is a captain and the other a hulking full forward. ATM I can't stand either of them.

I saw Petty grab a hamstring in the last minute of the game against Brisbane.

Hmm .... intriguing !!

Not a key player, and is a defender. Well, I think Petty, May, Lever, Salem and Rivers are key players. Smith is borderline, at least against Jee-long. Which only leaves Bowey.

If Bowey is out, then presumably Hibberd or Hunt is in.

And the same if the mystery injured player is Smith.

Agreed.  especially when you add in the Kardinia Park home round factor.  Easy to score from the centre and no width.

The Cats will have nowhere to hide at Optus.

Nowhere to run to babe,

nowhere to hide!!!

So really we dont know anything.

Lets just leave it at that shall we and let the club make these decisions in this vital time. If it was just a H&A game it wouldnt matter so much, but giving the opposition any sort of heads up at all ahead of time is just not on, especially in this game.

Dangerfield and Tuohy, one hopes. The rest are manageable.

God I hope 22 (Nathan Williamson) is not umpiring this week, He has zero feel for the game and always pays those weird block free kicks that have no impact on the game or the contest. super inconsistent with how he officiates insufficient intent too.

Perfect lineup would be Rosebury, Chamberlain and Stevic
Donlon and Meredith are pretty decent too

You're kidding right?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
