Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Sparrow probably push him out anyways. Not sure we need Cerra. We will need a lot of money aside to satisfy Jackson. Now we’ve won a flag we would probably drop our offer by 100k for Cerra. Sparrow may overtake him anyway, then what do we do. Sparrow was really good tonight.

I love Sparrow. What a booming goal. He's the type of player that wins you flags as a role player. But Cerra is the type of star that wins you flags. Like Petracca, Oliver, Lever, May etc. And we need more skill in our midfield because as fun as it is to crash and bash at some stage hitting some easy targets is probably the way to go!

With so few clubs in the race for Cerra we've wisely thrown our hat in the ring. He's a premium player being made available with only 1 suitor. But sometimes you're better off sticking with multiple team first role players than going all in for one more star.

Tom Morris and 'No idea' Ralphy said Cerra was to nominate Carlton as his preferred some point this week.

However, I've read and heard elsewhere that he's yet to make up his mind.

If I was a young player weighing up my future and an opportunity arose to go to the premiers or a lowly team then my role in the premiers would not matter so I would select to play with the Demons because playing with the likes of Gawn Jackson Oliver Petracca and Viney would make me a great player rather then a good ordinary player.

Great teams have good ordinary players who then become better players because they get feed the ball by these great players and they look very good.

The Carlton teams of the 1970's and 1980's, Richmond teams of the late 1960's and 1970's and the Hawthorn teams of 1970's 1980 and 2010's all had great player the bit players look very good in their presence.

But at Carlton he gets picked every week, he gets guaranteed big minutes and he gets paid more.

And he knows Carlton can get a deal done with pick 6.

He's good enough to be a starting 18 player and get paid a premium from a club lacking midfield stars (Walsh aside, who is a gun). In Melbourne he's third maybe fourth in line. If the kid has ego he goes to Carlton.

I don't think Carlton are looking to pay him any more than we are, and the MFC wouldn't even entertain such a trade for a depth player, so he would be coming as a starting 18 player. Would be curious to see what role we are pitching to him to get him to consider us.

Adam Cerra must certainly be conflicted with his thoughts.

It's a big decision to make for the young player.

On the one hand he has the choice of Carlton. A team with a few young talented players and a new coach in Michael Voss. He would become a starting 18 player and be guaranteed senior games each week in the midfield.

On the other hand he has the choice of Melbourne. The reigning Premiers. He is apparently friends with Ed Langdon(?) and he could be tempted by the choice of immediate Premiership success. He would need to play his role within the team and earn his spot. But he could end up with a Premiership medallion around his neck in another 12 month's time. That's a pretty amazing opportunity. Not to mention the chance to be part of a Melbourne Demons dynasty.

In the end, it all depends how fairly he wants Fremantle to be compensated in a trade.

I think the Demons could arrange a fair deal probably involving a future first round pick and maybe a player like Jayden Hunt as a possibility?

Anyway, we shall wait and see who Adam Cerra decides to nominate. I am quietly confident that if he wants to win Premierships that he will nominate Melbourne though.

I really dont think we need him we have so much youth coming through our midfield Sparrow, Jordon, Rosman, Laurie, Bowser.

Our extra salary cap can be used to reward our up and coming players IMO.

If he falls our way though i won't be disappointed.

I think it's a very difficult decision, but not based on games he will play. He is likely starting 18 in both sides, so that should not matter.

The difficulty lies with which team is most likely to have success. On current form, we are looking great, but it is bloody hard to keep backing up for multiple years at the top and even harder when you don't have a distinct home ground advantage (Brisbane, West Coast, Geelong)

Carlton have the players to rebound very quickly if Vossy and his coaching staff get things right. They have some very high end talent and there is no chance the tail will wag the dog in 2022 (watch out Saad, Williams, Martin)

I think there's appeal in going to Carlton with the opportunity to be part of turning the club around. Had we lost the flag I almost think we may have been a more attractive option, as he could've been part of the special team to break the drought.

He gets to try and forge his own path of success at Carlton, whereas he's walking into a ready made superstar team with us.

I don't think the pull of the reigning premiers tag is as strong as believed. Would love to have him though!

It's so lovely to be able to watch all the run arounds of trade week this year as teams fight to grab their 'missing piece[s]'. We don't have any! Any one who comes in is cream on top or depth!

Not so sure about Carlton rebounding. I don't think their list is at all balanced or as good as they or others think.

They have a good spine, but apart from Walsh, no mid-field to speak of; I think Cripps is cooked. Saad, Williams and Martin are not, and won't be, A graders.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
