Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Weid, Bedford and a future first round pick for Cerra

who says no?

Whsipers are Bedford is headed to freo and they have a strong interest in Weid.

says who? bedford has played what, one or two games for us? no trade value.. so the trade would basically be weid (worth maybe pick 20 at most?) and pick 14-18 for cerra..

i think i'd rather hold on to weid and our first rounder. tried to look at cerra's highlights and was a bit meh. happy if he comes real cheap, but not worth losing chips at the table for him. more than happy with who we have atm. would on the other hand, lose chips at the table for ben king.

I know what you're thinking.

But if you think about it long enough glek and Cerra have a lot in common.

I've had a squiz at that thead. FMD you'd be worried what Freo fans would value Cerra at if he had actually achieved anything yet.

Cerra is best mates with #positivelingers going by Jon Ralph, who thinks he will end up at Carlton, purely as Ralph thinks we can't get a deal done. Poor Adam.

Well at least we are in for a look in and it doesn't flow straight through to Carlton as always.

Can he nominate for the draft if a deal cannot be done between clubs , in which case Freo get nothing -  a situation that they would ultimately want to avoid?

If the rumors' around Sparrow are true, does he command a first rounder from Adelaide (presumably) ?

Would Something like below work:

Sparrow + 2022 First Rounder (14-18) + Pick 34 (2021) => Pick 4 (2021 => Pick 6 after F/S) + Pick 23 (2021)

We then trade Pick 4 (6) + 2nd Rounder (2022) for Cerra and pocked Pick 23 for Andrew Mac if he is still around.

I don't think the Sparrow rumours are anything but people on here throwing potential options up.

Certainly Neale going back to Freo will make a Cerra move more easily done but I would be extremely disappointed if I were a Brisbane fan. Am I being a bit cynical? Highly rated player goes to struggling unfashionable club on huge 5 year front loaded contact but wants to go back home after 3 years. Like he’s already eaten the caviar, steak and gravy for 3 seasons but now has to eat hamburger mince and beans for the next 2. Family reasons are stated with emphasis on wife pregnancy and lockdowns. Soon we will have 80% vaccine rates and lockdowns will almost certainly be a thing of the past and moot. If he reneges on final 2 years it is most likely he would earn more than a half million extra for those 2 years at another club. Reminds  me of the Ablett Jnr saga.

Jon Ralph in the Hun.

The Herald Sun understands Cerra is yet to officially choose Carlton as his home given his interest in the Demons.

If he had his way he would be more likely to want to join best mate Ed Langdon at the Demons but they have no first-round pick so could not get a trade done.

The Dockers would only have interest in off-limits stars like ruckman Luke Jackson, so Cerra will have to choose the Blues.

Hawthorn had some preliminary interest in Cerra but it has cooled, with Cerra told early on the priority was to return home rather than pick a club of choice.

Carlton’s No.6 draft pick will help and with Sydney free agent George Hewett a strong chance to join him at the Blues the midfield suddenly has a strong defensive focus.

Seems a bit simplistic for mine. Could always package together 2nd rounders & trade our future first.

There's no doubt we'd be able to provide at least a somewhat comparable offer as Carlton.

All depends how desperate we are for him.

Why is Cerra different to every other trade where a player nominates his preferred destination? If players only moved to clubs that had salary cap space and draft picks then North and Gold Coast would be trading stars in every year.

We have a future first and the ability to improve our currency as we have done nearly every year. We got pick 8 just two years ago by trading out a future first with 2nd and 3rd rounders.

If Cerra chooses us we'll get the deal done.

Edit: not questioning you dazzle, just the logic of Ralphs statement.

Yeah I am a but perplexed by Ralph's article. I get that Cerra wants Freo well compensated but at the end of the day he's gotta do what's best for his career.

If going to Melbourne will provide him with the right environment to reach his potential then he simply picks Melbourne.

The rest takes care of itself.

If the kids wants a stable playing environment, settled coaching staff and cares about his football development he will pick Melbourne.

If he is more worried about financial gains, boardroom unrest, a coachless club then he'll choose Carltank.

Neale is only concerned with his wallet. Will get a big money multi year deal at Freo. If he honoured his deal at the lions he’d have much less currency.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
