Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The aesthetics of the game get a great run in the media. Attractive football and all that jazz.

Do you want to be a team that scores freely or a team that is hard to score against.

Answer: Just win baby.

Only concern for me is we had 15 scoring shots in the first half and only 7 in the second even though we were well on top.

Best 13 possession game I have ever seen

Gus is a talent, hanging back just a bit to read the play and then execute what we all know he can do on the ground, in the air, around the melees. No opponent is too good for him; he dismantles opposition reputations.

Funny when Harmes plays his best position as a tagger he kills it.
He wiped the floor against Libba while racking up 21 possies and kicks a goal.

Amazing what happens when you play players in their best position and to what their skills are suited to. Who would have thought that!!!

FMD took long enough.

Better late than never though.

Great effort from a side that finely looks like the penny has dropped

some of the fastest and cleanest use by hand I’ve seen

loved watching them sing the song after the game they look like a very happy TEAM - I’m desperate to see them have the ultimate success because they have clearly worked very very hard for a considerable period of time to get the chance

pity to lose Langdon for next week but it does give someone else a chance to step up - assume Sparrow

Well done Dees needed to make a statement and did

BT is a peanut but I agreed with his assessment that we weren’t over-the-top celebrating during the game.

Not sure if it was a conscious decision or not but it was the most clinical no fuss win from a Melbourne team in a long time.

I just love that we were in front for 100% of the game.

Ok so my first thought was tonights win makes last weeks loss even worse because we could have gone 2 games clear of top.

You can't win every game. Much prefer to beat the Dogs and lose in Adelaide than the other way around.

And besides, nothing like a bitter loss to instill some motivation and make sure we keep our feet on the ground and stay focused. We responded in style last night. Doggies had a cakewalk last week against the saints which was no preparation at all before playing us.

After watching the Dees beat the Dogs tonight, I have just calmed down just enough to be able to read and write. I do this after texting several of those closest to me sending messages of congratulations after tonight's's great Melbourne victory over Western Bulldogs. I have so many positive emotions going on right now. The first is my  absolute joy of watching the Dees maintain unrelenting pressure for 4 quarters during this evening's top or the table match against the Dogs, and watch them take down the temporary league leaders and reclaim it for us all!. Top of the Ladder. Earned it the hard way! The second is after 57 years of supporting the Melbourne Football Club, I, not for the first time, but for the most confident time, believe. A new whiff wafts and I like it. On so many occasions over the past weeks and months, whilst wearing my scarf with pride - not just to the footy but also in public and to work (like I have done for years), random strangers, old friends, and other unexpected people are now approaching me and having lengthy discussions with me about the MFC and how well we are doing. The third is I am so proud to be able to tell them I am a member of the MFC.  These discussions have all been positive and I continue to enjoy them very much. I believe I may well be the most elderly continuous supporter of the the Melbourne Football Club to have not been alive when Melbourne last won a premiership. Having been born in October of MCMLXIV I challenge any MFC supporter to knock me off my mantle.

By biological calculations, (and, more squiffily, according to my mother) I was conceived mere days after our last flag. I could debate your claim on purely materialist terms relating to ‘existence’, but I won’t. If being alive is ‘breathing’, you win. Love how a win leaves such room for the existential things. More please...

Our form has dropped off a little over the past few weeks so I was a little concerned about this match. Turns out we were just pacing ourselves.

As soon as I read the Michael Gleeson article in the Age about the genesis of our new selfless approach and role orientated mindset I just knew we would turn up last night and boy did we put on a performance.

No team in this competition holds any fear for us. We’ll respect them all but we have the gameplan, mentality and talent to beat all comers. The Lions are going to get a taste of it next week don’t anybody worry about that.

I just hope we can stay fit and healthy. If we’re picking 19-20 of our best 22 in September we’re going to be hard to stop.

Before the game I just hoped win or lose, we could play like we were worthy contenders.
With that clinical display on the red hot dogs the boys showed the footy world they are properly forken good.

I know it'll shut up the cocky bulldog supporter at work.
He was certain they'd just roll over us.
Told him their pretty boys they hadn't faced the heat.
Can't wait to see him.
Winning 9 games out've 10 sure makes marching into work monday morning alot easier.

Exposed as front runners the Bulldogs, love to play the fast free flowing footy but when we kept the heat on and smothered them they weren't up to the challenge.

How good is it to wake up Saturday morning, sitting prettying at the top of the ladder while all the other teams still have to battle for the minor placings?

Unbelievable actual, I thought the dogs would win. Obviously I know nothing.

We will look back and think of that loss last week as the best thing that could’ve happened to us. We didn’t play great footy and a loss was looking likely for a few weeks. It was the rocket we needed.

Last night was clinical. Doggies have been towelling teams up and we made them look very ordinary, similar to what The Tiges did to them in the 2nd half.

What excites me is how much improvement we’ve got in us. Lots of players dropped simple marks that would’ve lead to goals. Max dropped some sitters. Weed was getting to all the right places but just couldn’t clunk them. He will soon, that little 2 mins from him sealed the game and his confidence will be sky high as a result.

Absolutely stoked with how we dominated a premiership favourite. We need to back it up next week though otherwise we stay with the pack, if we win we are a serious threat and deserve outright favouritism for the flag.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
