Great team performance, will put my hand up as one who thought it was more important to tag the outsiders as opposed to cutting off the source.

Really good move cutting Libba out and anyone who uses Brayshaws stats to judge his performance doesn’t know what they are talking about

Shout out to Gus for his game. Epitome of sacrificing for the team. Only got it a dozen times but regularly won or halved 1 on 1s. Deserves votes

Controlled and hungry.
A beautiful thing.

Nice, continuous application of mongrel, too, delivered without animosity, just an attitude of a classy team.

It’s 12 days.

Still haven't beaten anyone above us on the ladder...

That's standard

Felt good bout this going in so plonked $50 on us at $2.35.....great night only marred by the fact we couldn’t be there

Time to start watching the replay

Awesome game. I tipped us by 10, they surpassed my wildest expectations

Best on ground, Harmes? Maybe, huge game. But geez, Gus aye. Selfless. So important tonight.

The lesser likes for me.
Harmes, Spargbol, ANB, Jordon. So clean and hard and don’t stop working. Really good from those 4 plus Brayshaw shutting down a wing.

Oliver is head and shoulders above their much lauded midfield.

Great win in a weird to watch game.

James Harmes best game in a long time

Agreed, for all the times i've critised him this season and last his game was brilliant tonight. I hope for more of it.

Lever B.O.G for me being mindful i missed the first quarter.

I'll be completely honest, I didn't see that coming. It looked weird seeing us play with no crowd and I think in a low of ways that helped us. The dogs looked unable to get "up" whereas I think we were always going to be up for a fight after the shock loss last week.

I'm not able to really do much rundown but Gus and Brayshaw deserve a lot of praise. Did great jobs this week.

Im convinced

We are the real deal.

So much for the "Medical" sub

Won't be long until the calls come for - "just make it a 5th Interchange"... and then a call for a 6th as Sub

Deja vous

Brayshaw had a cracker of a game. Best game of the season imo.

Best 13 possession game I have ever seen

Huge game.

They dominated the stats and had tonnes of the ball but the stats don't show you how much they were mucking around with it because of our pressure and defensive set up.

A massive team effort. Oliver was dominant but this was as much about the stars as it was about lesser lights, like Harmes tagging Libba, Jordon's midfield role, Weideman continuing to present despite having a poor first half, Spargo/ANB/Pickett gut running repeatedly to keep the pressure on, Brayshaw's amazing defensive game on the wing.

We had to match them in the middle and we did, winning CPs by 21. We had to dominate the air and we did, +5 marks inside 50, +9 contested marks and a lot more intercept marks (can't find that stat).

There will be those who qualify this win, noting that they were missing Treloar, Dunkley, Wood and Martin, and arguing the lack of a Dogs home crowd helped us. But [censored] them. We brought our defensive A-game and our pressure A-game and like Richmond, a top 4 contender couldn't go with us.

Some of us know Pennant. My only post on the game day thread was stop Libba and we are a chance and Harmes was the obvious one. Thought Harmes was great.

Gee I hope COVID doesn’t screw up this season.

This is the best chance of a flag in my lifetime (I’m 45).

One good thing about the lockdown.  While everyone thinks I am working from home, I will be watching the replay twice a day

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
